Don't even think about it!

by wirelessmonkey , Feb 07 '07
Pros: Can't come up with any.
Cons: Repeated issues with motherboard. Heavy. Overheated. Periodically ran very slow - no good reason.
I am angrily writing this on my 12 year old CTX desktop computer (yes, 12 years and still works fine). I bought the Dell 5150 based on previous reviews in the winter of 2005. It seemed like a good buy at the time. Now, three motherboards later, the ...

It sucks.

by rdbrewer , Nov 26 '05
Pros: Powerful when working.
Cons: Almost never works.
Worst computer I've ever owned. Be aware that Dhell sends shills to these sites to write glowing opinions. They're the ones who sound like Dhell advertisements. "Dyoude, you're gettin' a Dhell!" Not. As with so many others, the AC plug wouldn't ...

Pros: I can't think of any. Attractive paper weight?
Cons: Lying, poor quality product that will have to be replaced several times
I bought this model in September, 2003. During Thanksgiving weekend of that year, my processor fried. I got a replacement processor, but it fried 2 days later. I called again, and got another processor sent to me, however this time they told me it was ...

by madatdell , Jun 23 '05
Pros: Fast when it is working.
Cons: Very limited lifetime.
I was a Dell fan until after I purchased two Dell Inspiron 5150 laptops for home. During the first year Dell had to replace the motherboard on both computers, the sound card on one, the video card and the LCD screen on the other. Now that the warranty is ...

by zuzubar , Nov 19 '04
Pros: Fast, affordable, and GOOD battery life
Cons: Wireless problems and overheating
The Dell Inspiron 5150 is one top of the line notebook. It took a while to find the right computer but when I saw the 5150 I felt it was a perfect computer to fit my needs. I don’t really require much on a notebook, except word processing and ...

Backward Compatible Issues

by markd-uk , Aug 27 '04
Pros: Performance, sexy looks, brand name
Cons: Weight (heavy), no serial port, PS2 port, Wi-Fi, bluetooth or Infrared included.
Despite better value machines being on offer, my employer forced me down the route of the Dell Inspiron 5150 assuring me that Dell, being a world-renowned brand, would be able to suit my needs. Desperate for a machine with significant performance ...

Questionable DELL quality again...

by karma_929 , Jul 22 '04
Pros: Decent feature group
Cons: Wireless is useless, keyboard layout is poor, HEAVY laptop!, DELL support
I purchased this laptop through work to replace my 4150 which got farmed out to a junior. Not too pleased with what arrived. First off, I can't get over how heavy this unit is compared to the 4150... it's a TANK! My leather Samsonite case is literally ...

Good laptop, poor support

by jim56 , May 30 '04
Pros: Good value, nice looking.
Cons: Poor support.
I bought this laptop for my college age daughter. Price was good compared to local computer stores and the laptop is very nice for what you pay. Everything was fine for about a month and then I decided to buy her a wireless PCMCIA card. That's when the ...

by tim1967 , May 25 '04
Pros: Nice screen size? I can't get beyond that point
Cons: Terrible customer service.
Three weeks ago we received a Dell inspiron 5150. It seemed like a pretty good deal, a thousand bucks and a 2.6 GHZ CPU, plenty of RAM, and nice screen size. When it started up, the screen was large and crisp. Everything worked until we got to the ...

by rollypop , Nov 28 '03
Pros: Well-made, affordable, top notch system!
Cons: Too much pre-installed software, customer service lacking
