Pros: Full power Pentium 4 not a mobile processor, 1024 MB memory and DVD burner. Cons: A bit heavy to carry around
My desktop PC at work started acting up and Windows XP was crashing on a regular basis. I figured since it was an under powered 1.7 GHz Pentium 4 it was in need of upgrading. I convinced my boss that what I really needed was a much more powerful laptop ...
Pros: Powerful, very powerful Cons: Gets hot, is heavy, fans are loud.
I've owned this Notebook for over a year and am very happy with it. Why? This machine is powerful. There's no doubt about it. Below is a list of some of the tasks I have used it for. Games (Enter the Matrix, Halo, Painkiller, Splinter ...
Pros: POWER. PERFORMANCE. Does anything a Desktop model can do. Cons: THIS THING IS HEAVY! Becareful about dropping it. 1 drop I fear will kill it.
This is a very powerful machine. I have mine spec for P4 3.2 running 1 gig of ram, 60 gig 7200RPM hard drive, 4x DVD Burnner and 128 Meg ATI Radeon 9700 Mobility. Where to begin. I am a computer professional, during the day I program applications and ...
Pros: Super Fast, unbelievable performance, superb on apps, multimedia. Dell tech support great! Cons: Battery Life (but remember, this is not a Centrino machine), Mainboard failed after 11 months.
I don't understand people who do not research their buys - this computer rocks but isn't suitable for certain tasks. If you can't carry a few pounds then go to the gym and work out ! If you want 3 hours or more from the computer then go buy a cute ...
Pros: Great desktop relacement for work, powerful, greate graphic card Cons: Overheat on non-OpenGL 3D-intense games, overheat on WinDVD sometimes, and very heavy.
In an essence, Dell 9100 is a great desktop replacement notebook. It's the fastest and the heaviest out of the 6 laptops I own. First of all, the good things about this computer are its performance and screen. It packs a Intel P4 HT 3.0 (can be ...
Pros: Large screen, sharp graphics Cons: Too big, runs too hot, terrible durability, very little added value for the size
I consider myself relatively experienced and knowledgeable when it comes to computer technology, systems and components. In the past decade or so, I've personally owned about 5 different computers. In the past 15 years, I've worked on a regular basis ...
Pros: The screen was nice and large. Cons: Poor product components and terrible service support.
When I was getting ready to write my doctoral dissertation, I carefully compared laptops. I had had several Dells in the past and had been pleased with them. We purchased a Dell Inspiron 9100 with an 80 gb hard drive, CD burner, DVD player. The CD ...
Pros: Performance, screen, HD capacity, versitility Cons: Warranty essentially unavailable for service members stationed overseas
I purchased the Inspriron 9100 as a desktop replacement in April 2004. Here's the good, the bad, and the ugly. The good. The display is sharp with great viewability and graphics display. The Pentium 4 HT processor and 512MB RAM packs plenty of ...
Pros: Fast, Quick, and Speedy Cons: It wants to do more than it can sometimes
I don't write reviews for things I do not own. So once again I must speak the truth. I have owned this laptop since around April '04 and I have noticed this much. Don't F*ck with the configurations of this computer. I am a tweeker. When it comes to ...
Excellent desktop replacement! by caityloo ,Aug 13 '04
Pros: Powerful, fast, good value for the money. Cons: Very heavy for a laptop PC.
I purchased the 9100 to replace an aging Gateway desktop system, and have been consistently impressed with its performance. The Pentium 4 processor delivers incredible power and speed, the display is crystal clear, and the full-sized keyboard is easy to use. It is VERY heavy for a laptop, so if easy portability is crucial to you, you may want to look at something a little lighter. The dimensions are also bigger than most laptops - the first carry case that I purchased to use with it wasn't big enough! Overall, it's a marvelous PC, and I couldn't be more pleased.
The best laptop and its portable. by webzila ,Sep 05 '04
Pros: Extremely fast, crystal clear display, very quite and runs cool for such a powerful machine. Cons: The AC adapter is a little bigger than usual but its still good.
This laptop puts most of the desktop systems to shame. I dont think that there is any other laptop that comes close to matching Inspiron 9100 in its price range. The laptop is NOT that heavy, my grandma picked it up with 1 hand. Other laptops are only a little bit lighter.
Pros: Radeon My favorite video processor
Construction is SOLID.
Availability of service manual Cons: Weight
Battery life
Size (Hard to find a good carrying case)
This is very heavy. It is truly a portable desktop rather than a laptop or notebook. It has all the features of the best desktops except for the keyboard and sound being limited to the the package. Battery life for the standard 12 cell battery is two hours using the built-in wireless, which is, all-in-all, not too bad. I would definitely opt for more than the stock 512mb of ram and the 64meg Radeon. I have since upgraded to a 128meg card and 1 gig ram. One big downside is the lack of parallel or serial ports. This has only 4 USB2.0. Overall I am VERY pleased with the performance of this machine.
Dell 9100, more than a laptop by denimblue ,May 10 '05
Pros: fast, fast, and great feel to the keyboard, clear screen Cons: heavy
What a machine, fast, fun and ready for anything. I am not a computer geek. I just wanted something that was easy for me and yet could handle my sons fastest online games. This computer never slows down and keeps up with the best of them. Yes it is heavy, but I would rather heavy than flimsy and cheap. I loved my Dell desktop, and this does everything and more. I bought it refurbished, so the price was great. Check out the refurbished models, but they can be gone in seconds, honestly. And they usually run deals, free shipping, or free printer, etc.
Hope that you get a good one by gransport65 ,Aug 26 '04
Pros: It promised to be a great desktop replacement. Cons: DELL SUCKS!
Buy a Dell 9100 if you enjoy getting jerked around by Dell. If you think that it is a good thing to give Dell your $2500. for a computer that they cant seem to fix, well its your money. If you enjoy holding 40 to 60 minutes to talk to someone in India who you can barely understand, who will lie to you about your service ship date, or "accidently" disconnect you. they will string you along until you can no longer return it and then you are hosed.
Dell has had the computer for repair for much longer than I have been able to use it.
Dell Inspiron 9100-good for school but big! by wagirl17 ,Oct 10 '04
Pros: Multiple USB ports, CD burner, large screen, Cons: Big, Heavy
I bought this notebook originally for school. This computer has allowed me to do everything I need to do at school including downloading a program to write java programs, burn cds, watch movies, listen to music, write papers, and more. However, I don't like the size of the notebook. It is a lot larger and heavier than I thought it would be.
