Well my school has some of these and they are alright. They are not very fast and they are ugly. They freeze a lot. They are running windows 2000. They are slow on online games. My Gateway GT4024 blows this away. They are very heavy because i had to help ...
Pros: Great Machine, Easy to Upgrade. Cons: Case Intrusion Detection gets annoying if you don't reset it after opening the case.
The Dell Optiplex GX110 is a great PC. Its durable, dependable, and really easy to upgrade. I purchased mine used for $200 4 months ago, and have upgraded it. Mine is the mini-tower model, the GX100 comes in other case factors, but this is the most ...
Pros: Fast, reliable, and really good looking. Cons: Windows 98 doesn't have all the drivers
I got a Dell OptiPlex GX110 with a 600 MHz Pentium III processor, 64 MB RAM, a 9.51 GB HD, a 40x CD-ROM, and the case is exactly like the one pictured. The OS (Windows 98 SE) doesn't have all the drivers, but I'll figure that out when I can. It has a Socket 370 PIII, so I can easily upgrade it when I get the courage. I love it!
Pros: Boots without dramas. Cons: Difficult to setup(BIOS)
How does one review what has basically become a non-event?
Sure it boots when it should, but that's about all!!
No capacity for extra hard drives!
No capacity for Nvidia cards...regardless of what the description tells you.....Nvidia is TOO BIG to fit!!
Extreme difficulty in getting S3 Trio 64 to function.
Ditto for A drive and Optical CD Writer.
Yes we purchased this refurbished, but would still expect the basics.
Pros: extremely stable
almost zero hardware maintenance
attractive styling (for the time it was built) Cons: reached end of life, P3 cpu can't handle the work we now throw at them.
We have around 150 of these for our medical billing office and they have been the most stable pc's imaginable. They have been in use for over 4 years and we have only had to replace around 3 hard drives and a few cd-roms. We have mostly gx110 desktops, but we have a few gx110 ultra small desktop form factors. The ultra small has had a few more problems with the cd-roms going bad. they use a laptop cd-rom, and they haven't lasted as well as we would have liked.
