Pros: CDs sound like DVD-A and SACD discs!, Multiformat Player, Build Quality and Appearance Cons: Mediocre Video Quality, Slow response time, Possible SACD problem, Doesn't play DIVX discs
I have to say, this is perhaps one of the oddest DVD players I have ever owned...as inspiring as it is frustrating. Thinking of buying it, then read on. AUDIO First, lets take the audio performance. DVD / CD / DVD-A / ...
Pros: Does everything so right. Cons: Complicated for the casual user. Seem's pricey until you use it and see why.
Unlike the first reviewer, I only have good things to say about this unit. My first universal was Samsung's DVD-HD841. Now that did have problems. The picture quality was ok but DVD-Audio discs and SACDs kept cutting out while playing. I didn't really ...
Pros: Great picture. Cons: Possible sound sync problem - 200mS delay. Aspect ratio control buried.

Solid Video features. Plays almost all formats.
Cons: So far none.

Pros: Does it all, with no real problems. Cons: Very Honda-like. Nothing bad, and everything fine, but nothing excellent, except maybe the DVD Audio.
Video: Agree with the other reviewer that the DVD picture is very uninspiring. No better than my Technics DVD-A10 or Sony NS700. I was VERY disappointed that the DVI to DVI picture was no better than the component connection, and worst of all, ...
Pros: Impressive sound quality in 2 channel Cons: Problem w/ playing SACD.
I purchased a DVD-2910 a couple of months ago. I was impressed w/ the build and the audio quality of the unit as noted by the other reviewers. However, I was disappointed at the SACD performance of the unit. I connected the player to a Denon AVR-3807 via ...
Pros: none Cons: My last experience with Denon or DBUYS.
New Denon 2910 DVD player defective out of the box. Plays all DVDs for 10-90 seconds and skips back to the opening menu. Purchased from DBUYS who will not replace. Outrageous!
Pros: Sensational pictures, top quality build, nice sound. Cons: None as yet, but its early days.
I had spent nearly 6 months monitoring the market for audio visual equipment for a new home cinema system. After viewing a number of DVD players I took the plunge for the Denon 2910. I had it up a running for 2 weeks now and I'm delighted with my choice. I've only used the player for movies. The picture quality is stunning, coming very close to the quality of certain other players retailing at £1,200. For some reason the picture quality and sound was better once set up at home than in the demonstration room I tested it. I suspect this was because of the HDMI cable I invested in and the dynamics of my lounge. The clarity of picture in Return of the King was simply sensational, both in action sequences and dark surroundings.
One word of warning. This DVD player is so accurate that poor quality DVDs will be found out. That is a positive in my eyes.
I can't offer any opinions on music reproduction as I haven't tested it yet.
sacd fanciers should audition carefully by poule ,Jan 10 '05
Pros: I could have lived with the picture I got (component output) Cons: Two samples had noise on sacd
I wanted a dvd player that could also function as a back-up sacd player for my older high end Sony player. The Denon produced a very smooth and subtle image from dvds, and at first seemed to do audio well in all formats. But I soon started to note that all sacds seemed to have hiss, not unlike the tape hiss of old. When played on the Sony via the same equipment the hiss was absent, the background dead quiet as it is supposed to be. I attributed this to a failure in the noise shaping filter, and got another sample - same problem. This problem may be ignored in casual listening - but that is not the ultimate purpose of sacd. I got a refund.
