Pros: Lightning-quick processor; ordering was a snap; superfast delivery; looks cool Cons: 'Value' hard drive; not sure i love Win XP; mouse could be better
It was time for a new computer. My last one, also a Dell, was about five years old, had a 500-mhz Pentium III, and was still working well. Yet it was showing its age. It was running out of hard drive space, had no network card for broadband access, and...
Pros: DDR SDRAM (finally), expandability, front USB ports, fast, affordable. Cons: Costly options, only 4 PCI slots, could use an extra memory slot, warranty, deteriorating support.
Until recently if you wanted the power of a Desktop Pentium 4 processor, you had to either use a Pentium 4 with RDRAM through the Intel 850 chipset or the Pentium 4 with SDRAM through the Intel 845 chipset. While they may have their own advantages, the...
Pros: Excellent product, great prices & deals. Cons: Customer service & sales staff is incompetent.
I bought my first Dell computer over 7 years ago. It was the best computer I have ever owned and it is still going strong today. However, technology has changed and I finally decided to upgrade. My first experience with Dell was excellent which is why...
Pros: Sharp looking, speedy, quality components. Cons: Wimpy speakers on base model, sketchy DVD+RW support
This is my second experience with Dell, and it's nearly as good as my first.
My main interest was preserving my home video on DVDs, and DVD burners had finally come down to a reasonable price (though the standard is still up in the air). After...
Pros: Lightning fast, tons of options, very convient and easy to use Cons: A little bit pricy, and it came with windows XP already loaded.
I recently purchased a Dell Dimension 4400 series, despite my utter contempt for their ads. I must say that I am impressed by what I recieved. I was hoping for something that blew away my old pieced together computer, and I got more than I...

Pros: Relatively inexpensive, very good case design, DDR ram, simple setup Cons: pricey options, only 2 dimm slots, flimsy front door and drive trim, black color
I'll start by letting you know this is my fourth Dell system so, in my opinion anyway, they are doing something right. Let's start with what we know Dell does well. Ordering is a snap and, unlike some bovine companies I know of, have never tried to...
I work in the computer field and we have used Dells at work for about 5 years now. They are reliable machines and have a low incidence of failure. Some machines, like Packard Bell, had around a 35% failure rate. Dell is one of the best, around 3%...
Pros: After 30 days, so far, so good. Cons: One box shipped with water damage, "hidden"(??) charge for surge protector.
Two of my good friends have Dells and have not had any problems. In Feb. of 2002, I ordered a Dell P4, 1.5 Ghz and so far, everything has been surprisingly smooth. Keep in mind that I purchased a Hewlett Packard pavilion a few years ago and had problems...
Pros: Fast delivery, good support, good price, trouble-free, no unwanted options. Cons: None that I've encountered yet
After 4 years of working on a mom and pop Pentium 166, I decided it was time to upgrade. Based on the positive reviews of the quality and after-sales support of Dell, I decided to go that route rather than some of the other brands. I also wanted to try...

I have puuches Dimension 4400 2.0 GHz for $612.00 without monitor nor speaker. I purchesed a 19" monitor at Costco for $200.00 and used a pair of old speaker. beside the color will not match, the rest are great. I am very happy with the system.

Dell continues to make great computers for a price at a very reasonable price. I found that picking the components online very easy and clear. Other manufacturers make the process more difficult. They shipped the computer very promptly and I found it...
Pros: fast computer Cons: poor quality CD-RW, poor support
I purchased a DELL Dimension 4400 about one month ago. The system I purchased has a 2.0Ghz Pentium 4, Windows XP Home Edition, 256MB RAM, a 40GB Maxtor HD, & a LITE-ON LTR-24102M CD-RW. Along with the computer I purchased a 3-year at-home support...
Pros: Fine price and nice look. Cons: Didn't work out of the box. Rebates are a scam.
In the three months that I have had my dell dimension 4400 there has been no end to my troubles. First off my dell came from the factory broken, the floppy drive didn't work. After trying the dell "service" department for a couple of weeks and getting...

Pros: Easy to upgrade hardware Cons: Add on memory still expensive;
Good all around basic computer. The Dell 4400 series desktop is a good value. As with all computers it works better with more memory. This computer is used as Photo import/editor, Digital Video recorder, and some gaming.
Pros: fast, reliable, multi-user interface Cons: doesn't automatically come with Microsoft Office
My fiance and I recenly purchased a Dell Dimension 4400 with an Intel Pentium 4 (2.0 Ghz). Since our previous computer had a Pentium 285, this was a big step up!
The Dimension 4400 has several useful features. First, settings can be changed...

Pros: Good customer service took care of my problem. Cons: The first computer I got was broken.
This review is more about the service I got from Dell rather than the computer itself. I like my Dimension 4400 very much and I feel that I got a good deal for it. Pentium 4 1.7 with 256MB RAM, a 17' monitor, optic mouse, NVidia Graphics card, and a...
Pros: Fast, lots of ram, good for normal use Cons: Too darn expensive!!!

Pros: Easy online ordering Cons: Bad first experience
Dude, I got a Dell! And the hard drive died less than a week after I received it. I understand that hardware problems are inevitable. Given that, Dell's customer support was less than stellar. After almost an hour on hold, I finally spoke to a...
Pros: None Cons: Computer never worked, customer service was unbelievably awful
My computer was shipped to me on March 12th. On March 14th I had begun to hook up the system and called out our network administrator to hook it up to the network - paying him $50 per hour mind you. The computer never loaded. It froze up each time I...
would be perfect without xp by shatterblu ,Feb 26 '04
Pros: great machine Cons: tower is a little big
I got a Diminsion 4400 in 2002 and I WAS fantastic it looks good even thought the plastic is kinda cheap but it is a pretty fast machine compared to the 94' Compaq I had but the only major problem with it is that it runs on XP, and I cant fix the paging file making normal use ungodly and the tech support is horrific and condencending.
Pros: Price Cons: Reliability Poor. High maintenance.
Bought a 4400 back in March 2002. I got the optional 85Gb hard drive. We use only Dells where I work and they had a promotion so i didnt shop around. I have had several PC's and have a mountain of legacy applications.
I have had 2 system crashes with the Dell that required a rebuild of the entire system. The most recent was required after upgrading to Windows XP service pack 2. I think the problem is the hard drive but repeated disc scans and diagnostics checks have turned up nothing of use. Tech support hasn't been very effective. I would only call them (in India) after exhausting all other possibilities.
Since the last crash, the system only starts properly every other time. I am now trying to decide if I should buy the new miniMac or a new hard drive...
I spend WAY too much time keeping Windows and my virus scanner up to date.
Pros: Runs great, no major malfunctions so far Cons: Customer service isn't the greatest
I love Dell computers. Its great to have a computer built to your specifications (although it is often much cheaper to do the upgrades yourself. This computer is very user friendly. Its very easy to fix minor errors, and to do basic maintenance on.
Pros: Apart from the computer arriving as promised can't think of a single pro. Cons: This computer will steal your life with endless maintenance and unending problems.
The computer from hell. 3 crashes in 3 1/2 years requiring a complete rebuild each time and taking approximately 40 hours each time!!
The Computer That Keeps On Working by kc8ukw ,Dec 23 '05
Pros: Customizable, Reliable, Opens Easily, Inexpensive Cons: Plastic case
I purchased this computer for my undergraduate university years, and have had it for four years now and it has worked wonderfully almost the entire time. I recently replaced the dying monitor with an LCD monitor and added a DVD RW /- drive, and the computer accepted both. I have also replaced the default Windows operating system with Fedora Core Linux, and all the hardware with the exception of the Zip drive was recognized by default. I did have a brief problem during which the computer would only turn on, but would not activate the mouse or monitor (or, as far as I could tell, any software.) I opened the computer up, unplugged all the hardware and plugged it back in, thus fixing the problem. Overall, this computer has worked very well and still works great after four years. It was an excellent purchase.
