Dell - no gripes so far

by jjgittes , Mar 18 '02
Pros: After 30 days, so far, so good.
Cons: One box shipped with water damage, "hidden"(??) charge for surge protector.
Two of my good friends have Dells and have not had any problems. In Feb. of 2002, I ordered a Dell P4, 1.5 Ghz and so far, everything has been surprisingly smooth. Keep in mind that I purchased a Hewlett Packard pavilion a few years ago and had problems...

Cons: None that I've encountered yet
After 4 years of working on a mom and pop Pentium 166, I decided it was time to upgrade. Based on the positive reviews of the quality and after-sales support of Dell, I decided to go that route rather than some of the other brands. I also wanted to try...

Pros: Easy setup, great resources (CDs, online)
Cons: Case a little hard to get into for upgrades
As a network admin/tech support specialist, I've supported Dell Optiplex (corporate line) for over 7 years now between two organizations, and this is the first and only one I've bought a Dell for my personal use.

Dell is a BAD choice!

by jkoph , Jul 01 '02
Pros: I'm sure this Dell and all others will work reasonably well.
Cons: Tech support is non-existent; they ship defective systems and won't fix them.
I got snookered by Dell again! The first time was 5 years ago - a system with a bad floppy and then after 2 years the motherboard went bad.

This time I also ordered a new system, Pentium 4, 2 Ghz, with 3 year warranty. What I got was a system...

by joeyoyo , Apr 10 '02
Pros: Great PC for the price
Cons: took too long to built
I have puuches Dimension 4400 2.0 GHz for $612.00 without monitor nor speaker. I purchesed a 19" monitor at Costco for $200.00 and used a pair of old speaker. beside the color will not match, the rest are great. I am very happy with the system.

Pros: Powerful system, and the price was right!
Cons: Only one port for camera, pda etc.
My family was committed to another computer company for a long time, but I had used a Dell at work and never had any problems. My Daughter owns a computer repair company and had been telling me that from what she saw Dell was the way to go. So I did....

Dell continues to make great computers for a price at a very reasonable price. I found that picking the components online very easy and clear. Other manufacturers make the process more difficult. They shipped the computer very promptly and I found it...

Don't fall for the smooth pitch.

by dmunter , May 29 '02
Pros: Fine price and nice look.
Cons: Didn't work out of the box. Rebates are a scam.
In the three months that I have had my dell dimension 4400 there has been no end to my troubles. First off my dell came from the factory broken, the floppy drive didn't work. After trying the dell "service" department for a couple of weeks and getting...

Cons: Application switching from time to time is a little slow.
