Pros: Quiet, cleans well, flexible racks Cons: No delay start.
My 5 year old GE gave up the ghost so I needed a new unit. After much research, I decided on Kitchenaid for the way its made. Strengths *Stainless steel interior means no cracks or stains. *Very good insulation, basically a mastic applied to ...
Pros: Brushed Stainless interior, good control template, solid construction, spacious, quiet operation, hi temp wash, mini-disposer. Cons: No delayed start.
We're getting divorced and selling the house. There's not a lot that we agree on, but we're both keen on this. The stainless steel interior, KitchenAid reputation for quality, and simple design attracted us to this model. There are only a few ...
I know dishwashers and I am in love. This is the lowest price you are going to find for a stainless interior, which I think is the best thing you can do for yourself and your dishwasher if you are willing to put up the cash. First, it wont stain,...
Pros: Quiet, stainless interior, good value compared to the competition Cons: EXCESSIVE time to complete cycle, dishes not as 'sparkling' clean as desired.
Decided to spend a little more money this time so I would be happy with a longer lasting dishwasher. I owned a kitchenaid several models ago and was very happy. It finally expired after almost 20 years. I have to say that this Kitchenaid has me wondering ...
Pros: Stainless steel interior nice. energy saving dry good Cons: Noisy, bad service, company unresponsive
Less than a year ago I purchased the dishwasher. The stainless interior was turning black and everything was coming out terrible. The service rep came many hours after the time zone given (I brought this to the attention of KitchenAid). He could not ...
Pros: Easy to use, cleans very well, holds a lot of dishes and cutlery, quiet Cons: no delay timer but not too big a deal as it is very quiet
After looking at several different dishwashers and reading the reviews available (on the internet and in the Consumer Report guide), we decided to take our chances with this KitchenAid dishwasher. Our primary concerns were cleaning performance, loading capacity and quiet operation. This dishwasher has met all three requirements with flying colors. We had a glass baking pan with potato, cream of mushroom soup, sour cream and cheese baked in it and after sitting for a couple of days in the dishwasher with no pre-rinsing, it still came clean! Loading capacity is also very good. It has this "bull-nose" design which makes the bottom rack large enough to put two dinner plates side-by-side and a very spacious silverware holder. Lastly, it is really quiet.
A side note, we live in an area with very hard water and so we use the high-temp scour option every time (as recommended in the user manual). Apparently, it only costs an additional 2 cents per load to run this option. Definitely worth it.
We've only had this dishwasher for a couple of weeks so I am not too sure about the long-term quality of it but so far we have been very pleased.
I've had four or five dishwashers in the past, all of which worked so much better than this. It's loud and doesn't clean. You must rinse dishes first and forget about putting in anything that has a hint of butter or any kind of fat in without using soap on it first. What a piece of junk.
I'm going back to good old maytag or kenmore or ge.
It's OK but I miss my Maytag by jgoldenboy ,Jul 22 '04
Pros: Reasonably quiet, Stainless Steel Interior Cons: No delayed start, washing ability nowhere near my old Maytag's
Before my Kitchenaid I had a Maytag dishwasher that was wonderful. It had great features like delayed start, a digital display that counted down the time left, "Sanitized" setting, and an optional extra rinse. It also cleaned outstandingly well. When I relocated, I left the Maytag behind and inherited the KitchenAid. After 6 months, I can say that the Kitchenaid is just OK, but nowhere near as good as the Maytag was. The dishes seem to emerge "dull" from the unit while the Maytag left the dishes sparkling. More importantly, the Kitchenaid leaves egg and pancake mix on the dishes that the Maytag removed completely.
Pros: Great value, quiet, very clean dishes Cons: No delay start
We bought this dishwasher after extensive research. It is an outstanding purchase. We can run it any time day or night and not have to shout over its noise. It uses significantly less detergent than our old Kenmore, and gets dishes significantly cleaner. It does not have a delay start, however it is so quiet that a delay start is not necessary. We used to delay start our old Kenmore for about 2am and it would still wake us up. Not this one! I feel confident recommending this dishwasher. It is an excellent balance between price and performance.
Pros: Attractive, but so are many others Cons: Does not clean well enough, louder than expected
After reading some stellar reviews on this DW, I was excited to get it. Unfortunately, it does not clean nearly as well as my 20 year old DW did. I frequently will put silverware or dishes right back in to go through a second time.
And I'm amazed at how quiet others say it is. I won't run it when we're around because of the noise.
I expected much more from a KitchenAid...maybe I should stick with Kenmore and GE.
Pros: easy to use, QUIET, very effective, easy to install, removable silverware rack Cons: bottom shelf plastics may melt when drying, silverware may not be completely clean when overfilled
After researching (epinions included) and asking current dishwasher owners their recommendations, we opted for KA. We chose it over the BOSCH and have not been disappointed. I consider myself fairly handy and installed it with an off the shelf dishwasher installation kit. It is extremely quiet. During renovation of our kitchen, which is adjacent to our living area, we ran the dishwasher out in the open due to no cabinetry and we hardly noticed it when watching TV or talking on the phone. It has adequate cycles and are easy to understand. Energy saver dry is ideal for washing during sleeping time and emptying in the morning. Yet when entertaining, it proves effective and capable of performing on demand. We have a family of five and usually run it every other day. At times, we have wondered how long we have been running without the rinse agent.
Being the man of the house I rarely empty it, but when I do the drawbacks I noticed are some plastic items on the bottom shelf deform unless we use energy saver dry. And when the load is extremely full, some of the silverware has not been 100% clean.
Pros: Inexpensive, easy to service, solid, attractive, quiet, better tray layout and cleans well. Cons: Haven't found any (yet)
My 5 1/2 year old Bosch went down again for the 8th time, but no longer carries a parts warranty. I was not going to put any more money into that lemon, and opted to go with the Kitchen Aid. I was pulling for the more expensive models, but my supplier didn't have them in stock, so I decided to go with the "cheapo" KA model in black. Good move. My wife and I are very impressed with the features and the layout. First, it appears far more solid than the Bosch. The inner parts are far more accessible than the Bosch if I need to replace something. The cheaper model doesn't come with a silencer pad underneath the dishwasher. I made my own out of a thin backpacking foam pad. I was told it would be louder than the Bosch. Not so. We are loving it.
Pros: Uncommonly quiet, intuitive controls, efficient cleaning, good rack space. Beautiful to behold in stainless finish. Cons: Unusually prone to electrical malfunction - you will need the extended service warranty.
Yes, very quiet and very efficient - when it worked. Ours experienced electrical problems three times, necessitating the replacement of the entire panel of controls, and each time with 1-2 weeks downtime until service arrived. Never again Kitchenaid - we're replacing it with a Bosch.
Pros: Quiet, reliable, spacious & easy to load/unload, usually did a good job Cons: It gave out at 5.5 years - too early in my book.
I loved our Kitchenaid dishwasher and am very upset that the element corroded and the motor died just 6 months after the part warranty gave up. I bought the dishwasher new and am now faced with paying over $500 to get it repaired, or buy a new one. Five and a half years of use - isn't this a bit short??
