Pros: Cheap, Feature Rich, Great Display, Plenty fast for just about everyone. Cons: The K-Mart brand name and the AMD cpu
This is probably my 5th laptop, and actually the second one I use currently. I have an IBM Thinkpad R40 laptop purchased by my company, and recently got the M5309 for personal use. I teach courses on computer programming, and need a laptop of my own ...

Pros: Wide screen display, big disk, solid feel, and pretty fast. Cons: Keyboard layout.
My path to this Emachines system was a diverse one. I started out with a reconditioned Dell 600M. The delivery person dropped the box just before giving it to me. This may have explained why the DVD writer didn't work. As I was also finding the ...

Pros: Screen; stability; speed; keyboard; touchpad; USB 2.0; firewire; 60GB Harrdive; Radeon 9600 video card Cons: 7.7lbs; USB ports on back instead of side; no integrated wireless card.
Ok....if you were like me, 2-4 years ago, you wouldn't have considered an emachines brand computer even if it was made of gold. Well....eMachines has certainly out did themselves on their notebooks. I first noticed them about a month ago at Best Buy ...

An excellent deal considering the price
by georgenieh ,Aug 05 '04
Pros: Great battery life considering the size of the screen Cons: A little bulky
Having bought an Emachines desktop when they first came out and having no end of trouble with it, I was a little skeptical about purchasing one of their laptops, but upon researching it, I found that Emachines was bought out by Gateway recently. So I decided to give it a try. And I was not disappointed in the least, for the price I paid ($899) I got a full featured, easy to use laptop that met my needs quite well. The widescreen is one of my favorite things about this laptop, it's excellent for watching DVD's, as well as playing games.

GREAT LAPTOP!! WIDESCREEN!!
by littlebit4 ,Apr 01 '04
Pros: WIDESCREEN, speakers, AMD, speed, CD-RW/DVD, FIREWALL, 512 mb, 60 GB, 3 2.0 USB PORTS Cons: USB in back, no ps2
This is a great laptop!!! (m5309) The screen has the best
clarity!!! E-machines notebooks deserve a second look!
Great fast AMD processor, nice keyboard for a notebook.
You HAVE to watch a movie on this screen!
Fast speed, GREAT customer support! You can instant
message and get help right on-line, so you can
instantly figure out the problem!! (wasn't an
actual problem either! :O)) No wireless built in,
but not a problem as you can buy cards anywhere
and I use dial up. The speakers are really
great for a notebook!!! I tried the Compaq and
the speakers did NOT sound good and also had
a dead pixel, I'm glad because I never
would have found this one!!
Just get to a store and check it out for yourself!!
You will be hooked on it!

Emachine has really done a good job on this notebook
by robdob ,Apr 14 '04
Pros: great battery life, easy up dates, great ram and video. Display is wonderful Cons: usb in back.
I got it for the cheep price and decent ram (512mb) I am glad I did not pay the extra cash for some other brand name. This little thing kicks but. It has great battery life and has all the little extras. The "BigFix" program really makes it easy to keep the system up to date.

Decent processing power, short battery life
by stonerabroad ,Jul 15 '06
Pros: Widescreen, integrated scrolling on touchpad, near full size keyboard. Cons: gets really hot, battery life limited, heavy, no integrated wireless
I've had this laptop for a couple years now and have found it to be a decent machine to work with. Got it from TD as a refurbished model and couldn't find a scratch on it.
Great machine for day to day office work. Not good for simple gaming.
