Pros: Price, stability, speed. Cons: Flashing blue light while on hibernate is annoying. Otherwise, no cons.
I have been suffering with an older Compaq desktop (see my previous review) since 2000 and decided it was time to upgrade. I figured there'd be some good sales post-Christmas, so I perused the Best Buy listings and found this computer. I needed to get ...

Pros: Inexpensive. More memory and speed than others in this price range. eMachines great reliability. Cons: Non-eMachines optical drives difficult to mount and make look right but can be done.
Since PC technology changes so fast, I think it's foolish to spend a ton of money on a PC that will be obsolete in a year or two. eMachines PCs are inexpensive and deliver a lot for the money. I purchased a factory refurbished T-2984 from ...

Great deal for a good computer
by bashleyf ,May 17 '05
Pros: Small size, built in memory card slots, built in CD burner, quiet Cons: None so far...some people might find it a bit too basic.
So far I love this computer. My old one was ancient compared to this one. I like that it has the digital camera memory card slots built in. I also like that it has a DVD-rom and CD-burner built it. The computer is very easy to use. I even managed to take out the CD burner and install a DVD burner. This is a good computer for a great price. The only possible gripe is that it's very basic. I don't care because all I use is AOL and Microsoft Works, but for someone looking for a bit more in a computer, this one might not be the best choice.

Great little system
by defiant7734 ,Dec 19 '04
Pros: Inexpensive and fast for the price. Cons: No AGP, just PCI.
I got this system and it is great out of the box. I have added more RAM and a good video card. I have not run into any problems running any programs. There was a problem with Outlook Express retaining my password but I found the solution at the Microsoft website, here is the link: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;264672 . Another problem was Service Pack 2 for Win XP from Microsoft caused problems of it's own, I do not recommend SP2 to anyone. SP2 has caused problems on my other systems as well. I have a printer and a scanner on this system and all is well. I recommend this to anyone who is wanting to move up to a newer system and don't want to spend an arm and a leg.

solid machine, great price
by desilo ,Jan 07 '05
Pros: great price, perfect for the web browers, solid system response very quickly. Cons: for movies or gaming need video card for PCI slot.
This machine is solid. After initial setup I would reccommend a video card for the pci slot because it does not have a AGP slot. I notice that the DVD's I were playing were a little grainy. After rebate I paid 329 for the system and I think it is sweet. The system does respond quickly and for anyone who just surfs the web, and does homework will find this system suitable.
