Pros: Beautiful graphics, excellent gameplay, totally open ended universe that's highly player driven. Cons: Very, very, very steep learning curve.
This is a review of CCP Games Eve Online, a PC MMORPG. Epinions screwed up the category, as The Second Genesis is actually a collectible card game based on the Eve universe, not a computer game. Overview: In a nutshell, EVE online is a ...
Pros: Always updating and becoming better Cons: Time consuming, sometimes buggy
While playing MechWarrior Dark Age at the local hobby store, I noticed the owner playing a rather interesting looking space game. After watching him play and asking certain question about it, I decided to stop by a games store and invest my $20 in ...
Pros: long term entertaining game, player content oriented, good customer service, can play for free Cons: lag, selling accounts is not allowed, newber unfriendly
EVE is a massively multiplayer online role playing game with sci-fi settings. It is a good getaway from typical fantasy MMO games since it doesn't feature dragons, spells, orcs and elves, but instead it has spaceships, stations, stars, and planets. EVE ...
Pros: Excellent graphics, fun gameplay, great playerbase, involved developers Cons: Slightly buggy, character development is slow, pay-by-month service
After having played EVE Online for a period of approximately six months (no...not straight) I have some very strong opinions about both the game and it's developers. First off, to the basics: EVE Online is an MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role ...
Pros: Open-ended, excellent graphic, variety of ships, economy Cons: CCP's questionable past behavior, not good for those who can't take a loss in stride
First, as others have said, this game is not in the right category (and what's with the Air War image?). This review is actually for Eve Online, the MMORPG set in space. Eve Online puts you into the middle of interstellar... well.. space. That's an ...
Flawed game that is going downhill by werlwkerjwlk ,May 24 '07
Pros: great graphics, large vitual universe,
option to exchange in game money for monthly game time Cons: Horrendous lag
numerous quirks and bugs,
rather harsh game that mirrors real life economics
This game has great potential but it never quite utilizes them. Currently the biggest problem facing this game is online lag which can be stupendously irritating to gamers. For example in some areas of the game where there are lots of players, it can take more than 10 seconds before something you do gets a response from the game. Click to change ships in your hanger? I have waited over 30 seconds before the game responds on some occassions!
The game is also plagued by numerous bugs and quirks.
You may wonder why I play this game at all? Well I actually play for free. There is an exchange system in place in this game where you can exchange in game money known as ISK for game time cards, thus allowing some players to play without paying a monthly subscription which this game otherwise would require.
Had this option not existed, I would have quit this game already with no hesitation.
Sorry Eve, you just are not keeping your game experience and quality of play good enough.
Pros: Graphics, Huge universe, Unrestricted PVP in null-security space, Various alliances/corporations, decent player population Cons: Sometimes boring, Skills take a very long time to train, ISK spammers/sellers
On the one hand: EVE-Online is a very interesting game to get into. On the one hand, you're flying a ship, performing tasks which suit you (you can PVP in null-security space, or do missions, or become an industrialist and miner). The universe is vast, and holds many opportunities. Joining a good alliance or corporation can further aid you in your ventures (some alliances/corporations mission run, some mine/produce, some PVP, and some do all). Its hard to sum up EVE in one review, but I'd have to say that its definitely worth the try.
On the other hand: The game can get fairly boring at times. When you're tired of doing missions, you'd like to PVP right? Well...unless you've been playing for a long time, or have really been training those skills right to get the right ship and setup, it'll be near impossible for you to do much accept hold down enemies while your corp/alliance mates kill them.
IF YOU BUY THIS: join a corporation or alliance, find some good friends. This will help tremendously. They will tell you what to train for, which is what is absolutely needed for un-guided new players
Nice But Char Progression Is Painful by sorril1 ,Aug 31 '08
Pros: Nice Graphics, Massive environment, lots of people. Cons:
Character progression takes YEARS!!! Not weeks, not months, YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not joking!!!! You Hear me?????YEEEEEEEEEAAAAARRRRSSSS!!!!!
Eve Online is a space simulation game, MMORPG type where you can go around and do things such as Mining, Pirating, or Mission Running. 'Leveling up' is based on skill points that are accumulated over real world time (months/Years) of time.
The graphics are awesome, the universe is expansive, and it would seem at first to be an excellent game.
However, it has been my experience that new players will find themselves fodder for much older chars. Pvp is primarily involuntary and heavily skewed (of course).
