Pros: None, unless you like the smell of ozone Cons: This device deliberately generates ozone which is a toxic gas and a major air pollutant
I don't write a review of a product on epinions unless I feel strongly about a product. Since I feel very strongly in the negative direction against the so-called "Living Air Classic" this review will reflect that. WHY I WROTE THIS REVIEW Like ...
Pros: High quality, well built, worth the money. Cons: Sometimes noisy when set on high. Purifier control is more coarse than I would like.
I thought I might let you know that I had a severe sinus problem that plagued me for a decade. I tried everything, saw doctors in multiple states, all said it was part of getting on in years. I had a particularly bad attack while visiting family in FL ...
Pros: Good for the bank accounts of the manufacturer and distributors. Cons: Does not eliminate dust. Requires cleaning. Potentially hazardous.
I bought my Living Air Classic two years ago after recovering from a bout with walking pneumonia. I believed the advertising claims that it would clean and sanitize the air in my home, and that it would be good for my health. I have run it 24/7 on the ...
Pros: Removes odors well, leaves fabric items smelling clean and fresh. Cons: If set incorrectly, it WILL generate an ozone smell. Does not reduce dust.
On the good side, I've had my Living Air Purifier for 2 years now and have had good luck with it cleaning smells out of my house. Before I got it, I had 3 cats and a basement with a mildew problem (although not severe, it is smelly and annoying). The ...

My wife's brother had an Ecoquest Breeze that he let us borrow. He swore by it and said that it took away his coughs and he was never sick when he had it around. My wife often wakes in the middle of the night coughing and sneezing due to allergies. We ...
Pros: If it was cleaning the air, that would be a pro Cons: Easily busted, high maintenance, INEPT customer service
My grandparents bought the Classic unit in 1999. It was used maybe 6 months to a year until my grandpa died and my grandma moved away, leaving it in a closet for years. I picked it up in summer 2006, thinking it might help my boyfriend's cat allergies. ...
Pros: Superb at odor/smoke elimination, good at relieving some allergic reactions, inexpensive to use Cons: Expensive (from manufacturer), The automatic detector/sensor is inconsistent.
I bought the XL-15 air purifier back in 1997 and have used ever since. I was amazed at how it could 'clean' the air, destroy odors, and help me in my allergies. I found that I didn't sneeze nearly as much and whenever I took it to friends/family ...
Pros: generates money for people who really don't care about your health. A big SCAM Cons: Low setting does little to clean air.
High setting is dangerous to your health.
I purchased a Living Air purifier hoping that it would clear my indoor air from pet dander and any other particles big enough to see. In my experience It did not work. 1st because the air purifier was not designed to filter air. 2nd What it does is ...
Pros: Best investment I've made in 12 years. Cons: Pricy but cheaper than medical bills.

Pros: It Works! Filter-less. Quiet. Uses very little electricity. Cleans the air in the whole house. Cons: Some people misuse the equipment and then write hypocritical reviews.
I have tried the Living Air Classic and love it. I used to wake up all stuffed up and miserable. Now I can breathe again. I am not breathing all of the toxins released by other things in my home (carpet, plastic, chemical cleaners, mold, etc.). I am breathing clean air. Ozone is nature's way of cleaning the outdoor air. It is beneficial in the proper amounts. If you get too much ozone, it is not good for you. Just like, if you get too much oxygen, it is not good for you. Too much food is not good for you. Too many vitamins are not good for you. But, they are all necessary for healthy living! Ozone is not a pollutant. Ozone cleans the air of pollutants. You will hear ozone warnings on the news when the POLLUTION level gets high. That is because nature is using the ozone to combat the pollution.
Pros: It really seems work. I tried it for free. Cons: $700 each, ouch!
WOW, that first review was crazy. She put a lot of work into that considering she doesn't own the machine. Mine seems to work quite well. If you turn it up too high, it smells like a pool, just turn it down.
I usually need a inhaler for asthma on a daily basis. I've had this machine for three weeks now, and I haven't used my inhaler in over a week. I don't have scientific proof this works, I only know I haven't needed my inhaler recently. Odors seem to disappear also.
I bought my parents a machine, they have two dogs & a cat. They have a beautiful home that smelled terrible. I must say that it doesn't smell now, at all. I don't have scientific proof of this either, but the smell of the dogs is gone.
When I met the salesman of these machines, I had never heard of this company. He gave me TWO of these machines to try, one for me, one for my parents. Try it for a couple of days and see if you like it. I bought both of them.
Clean Air - Just what we needed!!! by sbi-epinions ,Oct 02 '04
Pros: Breathing better, clean smelling like the ocean air. No more cigarette smells. Cons: I have found no cons to my Ecoquest!!!!!
My family could not be happier. Not only has our Ecoquest given us the clean air our bodies require but our neighbors come over and compliment us on how clean our house smells. My son no longer has asthma attacks at night and my nose is not stuffed up in the morning.
My mother is a smoker, she purchased one and what a difference. No longer can we smell smoke in the house or in our clothes. Spending the night over there is a dream.
Thank you Ecoquest for improving my families Living Lifestyle.
I Love my Living Air Purifier, it Works! by harleyman7 ,Oct 15 '05
Pros: My family loves it. The bottom line, it works! Cons: My older model is a little noisy. The newer models are almost silent.
I have owned the Living Air Purifier for over 10 years. It has provided my family with clean fresh air and has dramatically helped my wife who is a serious suffer of allergies and asthma. Since having the product in our home she has only had a few minor flair ups over the years, where prior to the product she had them almost daily!
My children also love the product and wonder why all of our neighbors who have stinky houses don't buy one too. I recommend this product to anyone looking for clean fresh air in their home.
Ecoquest Living Air Classic Air Purifier. by successcwfh ,Sep 03 '04
Pros: Clean air, relief from allergens, ease of operation for those capable of following the instructions. Cons: None, if directions are followed.
There is obviously a severe misunderstanding on the part of the first author of how the Living Air Classic works. Failure on the part of the individual to follow instructions can drastically diminish the effectiveness of Living Air Products. In short, if there is an odor of ozone from use of the Classic it is because the user did not follow simple instructions.
Not having been required to pay anything for the Classic, it appears that such a tirade is simply the author's personal ax to grind.
EcoQuest Living Air, Living Water and other fine products have helped millions to live better, healthier lives.
My own experience has been a dramatic reduction in the normal household dust, a reduction in allergy symptoms and the need for medication for asthma. This amazing technology has been in my home for over a year and I am nothing short of thrilled with its performance.
Accurate documentation is available for testing conducted to prove all claims made by EcoQuest.
Pros: Great odor reducer
Great particle reducer Cons: None
The Living Air Fresh Air purifier is the best air purifier that I have ever experienced! Period. And I've tried just about all of them to get relief.
At first I was skeptical, but I can't believe how well the purifier has reduced/eliminated the pet and smoke odors that were driving us out of our home.
An awesome product, at a fair price!
About the ozone issue:
Ozone is how Mother Nature purifies the air outdoors... Good enough for her, good enough for me. No one has been able to find a better purification process than Mother Nature uses.
The Air DOES smell cleaner, but your whole house will be STICKY! by davehuth ,Oct 03 '06
Pros: The air did smell cleaner. Cons: Sticky film on EVERYTHING. Seriously. (And your toys will fall apart!!!)
A lot of reviews for this product mention the sticky residue that settles all over the house when using it. This is TRUE. Your windows will fog up, and the sticky residue will be everywhere. Another damaging side effect is this machine's effect on rubber/plastic. I'm a toy collector, and have noticed a rapid deterioration of soft rubber parts on some of my collectibles. First was an expensive Halloween mask I had put on display. I picked it up after a few months and it literally fell apart in my hands. (At the time, I thought it must have been made with cheap material.) Then some action figures that were held together internally with rubber pieces started to fall apart on the shelf. In another room, the rubber handgrips on a 4 month old exercise machine have started to fall apart. (I wish I could say this was from using the machine too much, but sadly that's not the case!!!) And now, as a homeowner, I have to wonder what effect this might have on the insulation of the electrical wiring within my walls!!! My living air "classic" is now sitting in my trash can.
Pros: Quiet, cheap to run, easy to clean, no filters to buy Cons: Price.
I have a Classic that is about 9 years old. I love it. So far all I have had to do was replace a plate that broke. Now they came out with replacement plates that are unbreakable.
Very effective and I have 9 dogs, with half of them usually running around the house, jumping on and off the bed and couch, putting all kinds of particles in the air. Not to worry, particles and odors disappear.
I would recommend it to anyone who wants clean air in their home.
Living Air Classic Air Purifiers by scrappylady ,Feb 02 '05
Pros: I don't know if there are any pros honestly. Cons: Very expensive and I'm concerned it maybe causing the film on everything.
I purchased a living air classic for a pricey $700 after hearing it advertised on my local talk radio. At first it smelled wonderful and the air was so crisp and beautiful, BUT, I'm wondering if it's a bunch of hogwash or there is some truth to the job it claims to perform. I'm having a very very bad time with a white film on EVERYTHING...Any crystal vases, windows, mirrors, you name it, is always covered. I can clean everything and a week later, the film is back again. I contacted the representative that sold it to me and of course he said he never heard of such a thing, no one else has complained and guaranteed that my household dust would be eliminated also. Guess what? That was definately hogwash. I have a gas forced hot air heating system with floor and ceiling vents (new 1 yr old house) and the dust is incredible. I've had my ductwork cleaned (found nothing), had a humidifier just installed on the furnace, and the problem continues. I'm wondering if anyone else has the same white film problem?
Ecoquest Living Air Classic makes my belly & headache by ynewsome ,Feb 07 '05
Pros: This idea of clean air was good Cons: I feel duped by this products claims. I also feel it's unsafe to our health.
When I have this set on anything but low and the purifier set no higher than 60, I get a headache and stomach ache. This can't be good for me, can it? My nose runs more with this on than off? This feels like fraud given the cost of this unit.
Pros: Removes bad smells quickly Cons: Difficult to find where to order replacement parts.
I've had my classic air for a year or so now. With 5 dogs and 6 cats, my home was not a nice place to visit. The classic air removed those dogs smells easily. I keep it on low and have had no health problems. Sometimes if I burn something, I will put the machine on a higher level and the burnt smell leaves quickly. Then you'll get that ozone smell, but turning it back to low takes care of that problem. I love not having to buy filters. FYI: I am not a dealer.
Works great !( got rid of a dead mouse smell in 15 min.) by tparty2 ,Feb 03 '06
Pros: Works great !( got rid of a dead mouse smell in 15 min.) Cons: none
If mold and germs are the concern then the only thing that will work is an ozone generating machine. That is why the professionals use ozone generating machines to clean up a crime scene. These ozone machines are getting a bad rap because people don't use them as they were intended to be used. Most of them are intended for a house 2,500 - 3,000 sq/ft.
Placement is also important. It should be put up high on top of a bookcase. It also should not run 24/7. Hepa filter machines are for dust and ozone generating machines are for mold and germs. I have been using mine for 4 years and I feel great.
living air 4 year experience by jjrel113 ,Feb 17 '05
Pros: machine works great, it does a great job. unbelievable. Cons: way to difficult to keep clean just not worth the price due to this problem
The living air is a unique and very powerful air cleaner. I can always tell when it isn't on because the air is not fresh, it has a stale smell, so the system works well, however the rear carbon filter along with the inside of the machine get dirty really fast. I am constantly cleaning the carbon filters which is no problem . The big problem I have is, I am constantly cleaning the fan blades they get completely dusty in a matter of just days, along with the inside of the machine the ozone plate and all the components this is a huge task to do a 1/2 hour every week.I like the machine but there has to be a way to keep the inside cleaner. the work is almost not worth it especially at the price. I received a second machine in exchange three years ago the carbon filter in the back is tighter but now they are falling apart due to being so tight when they are taken off to clean.
Pros: Really works. Fully adjustable levels. Cons: Just be careful not to turn it up too high.
Over a period of 5-6 years, roughly around Thanksgiving, I would get a bronchial allergy that lasted through the whole winter. The coughing was terrible and persisted to the extent that it caused vomiting 2-3 times a day. Dr.s said there was no infection or virus. It was probably an allergy. I found that it was worsened by a rust colored mold that grew on the underside the leaves of my wife's rose bushes, but cutting them back only helped a little. I decided to try the Living Air Breeze LT. Within weeks, all of my symptoms were gone. I have had the unit now for 4 years. This year I noticed the symptoms coming back. I realized that I forgot to clean the internal plate and that it was not producing ozone any longer. I cleaned it and within 2 days all symptoms were gone again. I keep the unit generating at a level that is hardly detectable by smell. Gets rid of pet and cooking odors too. People comment on how fresh the house smells.
Pros: iar smells good/rids home of odors Cons: dry air/ dry mucous membranes /coughs
I have owned a Living Air classic for over 2 1/2 years. I developed a cough around 3 mos after using it in my home, but thought nothing of it. I have had several medical work ups to ascertain the casde of my chronic cough, but nothing definitive came up. Just recently I began to wonder if the air purifier was the culprit. Have turned it off for now and am distressed to learn all the negatives that ozone in our living spaces can produce. If you have developed respiratory symptoms, consider these units as a possible cause. I am hopeful that my cough will clear up as a result of discontinuing use of the Living Air classic
Pros: Either it helped my asthma significantly or it was an amazing coincidence. Cons: Really not so easy to clean out.
I bought the unit in October of 2004 right about the time when my seasonal asthma starts acting up. That winter I needed my inhaler a tiny fraction of what I normally would in a winter. After a little over a year a dealer came out and helped me clean my unit and it seems to be working better than ever. Although I had cleaned out the plate a few times, we had to unscrew the front cover and take apart the fan to clean a lot of caked on dust.
I hope you don't have problems by number0006 ,Aug 10 '05
Pros: It's fine when it's working. Cons: No customer or technical support whatsoever.
It worked for awhile. It does eliminate odors. But when my XL-15 quit working, I got absolutely no help from the company. Not one word of response to three emails describing the problem.
I would never again buy anything from this company, because when you're paying top buck for an item, you expect it to work, or at least a little customer support if it quits working.
Pros: Nice looking, old world, wood design. Cons: The product will damage your health! (In my opinion the most relevant con possible)
My girlfriend's family has one of these pollution boxes in their home. After house sitting for one day I began to have difficulty breathing, marked by sharp pains when I attempted to breathe deeply. I turned the purifier off, opened all of the doors and windows, and allowed fresh air to fill the home. Within 1 hour the symptoms were gone.
The amazing thing about this experience is that I am a world class athlete with no allergies nor asthma. I came across this Epinions review while researching the Living Air Machine and felt the need to let others know my experience.
The Beginning of the End by ohmyallergies ,Nov 03 '09
Pros: Great for odor removal Cons: Ozone is produced which can be harmful, particularly those with sensitive respiratory systems.
As you can see in other reviews the Ecoquest Living Air is an ozone generator and not an air purifier that will remove allergens from the air. If you are looking to remove gases such as odors from a room this could be a good product for you. Some hotels use similar products to shock rooms to make them smell fresher. If you are looking for an air purifier to clean the air of dust, pollen, etc then you should get a HEPA air purifier. The California Air Resources Board (CARB) is moving forward with banning ozone generators for sale in California beginning in Oct 2010. In our opinion this could be the beginning of the end for these ozone generating units that can do more harm than good if run constantly in an enclosed living area. http://www.air-purifier-ratings.org/
