Pros: I always thought Electrolux prided themselves on quality engineering. Cons: Apparently, they had a paradigm shift in policy about the quality/safety of their products.
My girl friend bought this and was quite happy with it for about four months. While using it, all of a sudden she was flat on the floor with burns on her hand. She had been shocked after a short in the connection with between the handle and the wand ...

Pros: These vacuums have fair suction, but nothing more. Cons: Wheels fall off, switches are faulty, and shorts in the handle, wands, and power nozzle.
Let me clarify why these new Electrolux Oxygen canister vacuums aren't the same as the old tank models your mother and grandmother had. Those old well built vacuums were actually manufactured by a company called Aerus, which leased the Electrolux ...

Worst Vacuum Cleaner in 20 Years
by billmtn ,Jan 27 '07
Pros: Light weight, easy to use Cons: Price, Poor Durability, Poor Service
This is by far the worst vacuum cleaner I have ever had. New it cost almost $700 - 3 times the price I paid for Kenmore cleaners that last 10+ more years. Within the first month the handle broke. Within 8 months the electrical system failed. Supposedly no recourse with Electrolux

A Total Lemon!!!
by wilsoncrew ,Dec 14 '07
Pros: The cord retractor has not yet broken Cons: Almost Everything else has!
We owned our previous Electrolux for 17 years with almost no problems. We felt loyal to the brand so we purchased this unit spending over $350 for it. It has broken down on us countless times since we owned it. Don't expect to get parts like a belt from a local store either. We had to order on line. We have had problems with the belt (replaced several), roller (froze up and had to be replaced), Nozzle (Very cheap, several small parts broke prompting us to take it in for service after we got it back it broke again). I am extremely disappointed.

Follow up on the Electrolux Oxygen Ultra Model EL6989AZ
by brians69 ,Jul 01 '08
Pros: Light, Greatest suction power Cons: Mostly made of plastic.
After a year of usage, we are still very pleased with this product. But 13 months later the power head became loose which caused it to go on/off which moving the head back and forth on the carpet. Upon examination, it appeared that the wand for the carpet was causing a short and the plastic was melted at the connection point. (To me this is very dangerous and could cause a shock/fire.) I contacted the Manf. and they were very nice about it and said to just return it back to the store or they could send me a part. (I elected to take it back to the store and exchanged it for another.) The unit warranty on this is 2 years. Very good warranty compared to others.

Good for carpets only
by krisztoforo ,Feb 10 '06
Pros: - small
- easy to handle
- good on carpets Cons: - not good on tiled floor
- no telescopic wand
Nice little package and does really well on carpets, has adjustable pile height, suction strength control. Doesn't do nearly as well on hard floors though especially on tiled floor. It didn't have the suction strength to pick up dirt from the tile grouts no matter what. Eventually I returned it because of this.

Follow up Electrolux Oxygen Ultra Model EL6989AZ
by bpiranha ,May 23 '07
Pros: Very Light weight quiet and good suction power Cons: Mostly made of plastic and lacks a tool caddy for all attachments
After a year of usage, we are still very pleased with this product. A small note however, after 13 months of usage the power head became loose which caused it to go off/on while doing the carpets. Upon close examination, it appeared that the wand piece of the floor section was causing a short and the plastic had melted at the connection joint. (To me this is very dangerous and could have caused a potential shock and/or fire.) I contacted the manufacturer and they were very helpful and even offered to exchange it or send a replacement part, whichever I choose. I elected to just return the entire item back to Costco and exchanged it for another same exact unit. The warranty on this is 2 years which is very good in comparison to others I reviewed.
