Pros: Familiar action, Dynasty Mode for those who enjoy management sims Cons: Boring presentation, awkward control, choppy framerate
As recently as five years ago, if you wanted a good hockey game, Electronic Arts NHL series was the only place to go. It was easily one of the most venerated sports series in console history, second only to Madden in terms of overall quality. Of co ...
Pros: Superbly realistic adaptation of NHL hockey. Solid franchise mode and extraordinary replay value. Cons: Still feels underdeveloped in some areas. The new Elite Leagues is a worthless addition.
With the always entertaining NHL playoffs already underway, I figured it was now or never to put out my review of "NHL 2004". After last year's severely mediocre experience both on and off the ice, EA Sports' NHL returns with a chip on its shoulder and a ...
Pros: Graphics, NHL Depot for PC Players, Dynasty Mode is great, Steep Learning Curve(Hardcore) Cons: Pretty Boring Presentation, Steep Learning Curve(Casual)
Note: This is a Review for the PC Version Let Me start off by saying this. I hadn't gotten an NHL game since 2002. In other words I skiped over 2003. My interest in EA's NHL games series was renewed while looking at an NBA Live 2004 forum. Yes t ...
Pros: Better "extras" than previous years, with somewhat improved gameplay. Cons: Pretty expensive, for a poor graduate student, at 49.99
This game is by far better than any other NHL game released by EA Sports. I have to admit, i was a little dissapointed in NHL 2003, and its "improvements" that I did not even buy it. However, upon trying the demo for NHL 2004, I felt that EA Sports had ...
Pros: Old Hockey Jerseys, GM Mode Cons: Everything else!!
Okay...Perhaps, I was little harsh with the previous review, but honestly and not to sound redundant, but this game IS slow. I guess this problem is such that the game, to me, is HORRIBLE. The plus side of this game is in the GM mode, which allows you ...
Pros: As real as watching it on TV, Amazingly fun! Cons: Complicated controls, Funner with a multitap!
The crowd is roaring, the players are ready. It's hockey night tonight.
I purchased this game because I am a huge fan of sims, especially business sims. They Dynasty mode is ultra fun. You can trade players, you can sign free agents. You can upgrade your staff and facilities to help your players do better!
Possibly my favorite thing about this and all the other hockey games is the ability to multitap! Having 8 friends with the penalties turned off is amazing. You will all get so into it. You will yell to your friends to get open! It is quite the experience!
If you are looking for a great game, or just a sports game. I totally recommend NHL 2004, with 2005 coming out soon 2004 will be cheaper for as good, if not better game!
Pros: Hard hits, great gameplay, dynasty mode. Cons: None
If you love hockey, you'll love NHL 2004. With up to eight players all of your friends could get involved. You'll love the bone crushing hits and spectacular shots. A new dynasty mode where you play twenty years as the general manager.
Pros: more realistic gameplay, better graphics Cons: hard to learn, slower gameplay
This game finally puts an end to the arcade like NHL games from 2000 on. This game is a hockey simulator and it does a good job of it. Everything in the game has been improved from fighting which before looked awful, to the puck control and hitting. The gameplay however is a little slow and lacks some of the punch of previous versions of the game although the graphics have improved. The best part of this game however is franchise mode where you are given full rain over a team for 20 years and have to make it work on the ice and financially. This part of the game rocks! Something which is a little hard to get used to is the extra controls such as bruise control and shooting on the deak. Once you learn it though it is well worth it. the NHL series has always been the premier hockey game out there and it solidify's that position with this game. Good work EA.
