Pros: Inexpensive, it works, easy to use Cons: Eats tapes, very light
Our son is a TV nut. He loves Blues Clues, The Wiggles, Dora the Explorer and occasionally Little Bear. While he will watch these shows on Disney, he usually loves to watch his movies over and over and over and over and over again. No, that isn't review ...

Pros: It's a cheap VCR Cons: screws up tv recption, picture screws up, and it eats tapes.
Ok I don't if this is the correct Emerson model or not, but I do know that A that it's an Emerson, B that it's a 4 head VCR, and C that it looks like the picture above. But rather then called it the Emerson EWV603 VHS VCR, I'll call it what it really is ...

Pros: Cheap, front A/V inputs, simple. Cons: Disturbingly light, flimsy, only the basic RCA and coaxial outputs.
I bought the Emerson EWV603 because it was one of cheapest VCRs that I could find. With VHS on the way out, I did not see any need to spend any more money as necessary for a VCR. However, I also wanted more features than just a play and stop button. ...

Wish I'd spent a little more on another brand
by diyeni ,Jul 29 '04
Pros: Good quality picture and sound, when it works. Cons: Headed for the trash after only seven months.
We've had this VCR for seven months of daily use to play children's tapes. After four months, we permanently took the screws off the top panel to access the tape more easily when it failed to eject. It was too much of a hassle to screw and unscrew the top panel in order to lift the tape off the roller it would get hung on. This last month, the tape would play audio just fine but periodically, for seemingly no reason, it would not show any video.
My last VCR lasted for six years without a hitch. This Emerson was recommended as a reliable brand, but after only seven months, I really need to buy a new one. Both of these were low-end cheap four-head VCRs. I just wish I could remember the brand I had previously, so I could buy it again. I wish I had chosen a different brand, even if it had cost a little more.

Cheap

Pros: Cheap Cons: Noisy operation, small remote keys
I only use a VCR about three times per year when the nieces & nephews visit with their kiddie movies. The Emerson model is quick to set up and records TV programs easily. The drawbacks include somewhat noisy operation, a remote with absolutely miniature keys, and a very short RF cable that comes with it. You get what you pay for with this model, however, so for those that have minimal use for a VCR I'd save your money and buy this model.
