Relatively good casement style air conditioner by yrly ,Jun 06 '08
Pros: Good cooling and performance for its size, quiet, simple operation Cons: one of the air diverters broke shortly after getting the air conditioner
I've had this air conditioner for several years. One must understand that a casement air conditioner is designed for crank out or slider windows, not standard double hung windows. That said here are the pros and cons of the 5000 BTU casement air conditioner from Emerson Quiet Kool. Installation is relatively easy if you've installed an air conditioner in the past. The filter is relatively easy to clean.
The air conditioner looks like a modern unit but feels more like an air conditioner made about 20 years ago in terms of design, this is not an advantage or drawback just an observation, perhaps it is a design carry over (which could account for the relatively low EER of this particular model). Again, its not something I can flaw the machine for, just a general observation.
Pros-
Works well for its size
Quiet
Cons-
One of the air diverters broke shortly after getting the AC. It doesn't hinder performance and could be chalked up to bad luck.
Despite the flaw I've owned this air conditioner for quite some time and never had any other problems with it.
