Pros: Good software, ink cartridges included, easy installation, low price. Cons: Bad text and photo printing quality, horrible cartridge lifespan, even paper jams!
Sometimes I think we're cursed. In the six years we've been married, we've gone through many different printers, and after being disappointed by so many, we've learned not to really commit to an emotional bond with any of them. I'm glad we didn't, ...
Pros: Epson color printing quality is still top dog. Cons: The build quality is poor, and it just doesn't last. Ink is still very expensive.
I am writing this review, before I sit down and write a review about the C88. I will be writing a review on the C88 because after about a year or so, my Epson Stylus C86 quit. Installation: The C86 was a breeze to set up, and comes with inputs for ...
Pros: Excellent print quality, 5760x1440dpi (optimized). Sleek design, fast printing speed and individual ink cartridges. Cons: Expensive ink, consumes a lot of ink, requires constant usage.
This will not be an in-depth review of the c86 epson inkjet printer as others have an done an excellent job on reviewing so far... Needless to say, i will talk about the epson c8x line, and then the c86. I previously owned the c82 epson inkjet ...
Pros: Good quality color prints Cons: They stop working after 12-18 months.
If you had asked me 2 months ago I would have given you rave reviews on the Epson C86. I had purchased one for myself and one for my parents. I figured it would make trouble shooting easier. I bought both printers in December of 2004. The print quality ...
Pros: Sleek and stylish, great price. Nice color and text prints. Cons: Not built to last a long time.
In December 2004 I realized I needed to buy a new inkjet printer. I had a HP DeskJet 648C which served me faithfully for 6 years. However it began going the way of the dinosaur. Therefore I decided to buy a new printer. I was aware of ...
Pros: Cheap purchase price; small footprint. Cons: Short lifespan; uses color ink even if you set it for black only.
I bought an Epson C86 on 12/10/04 to replace a C80 that died after about 2 years. The C86 is easy to set up and use. The system it's connected to is a Dell Dimension 4400 running Windows XP Professional (SP2 installed.) The connection to the ...
Pros: Price, price of consumables, quiet Cons: ink consumption
I bought this printer in a bundle with an Olympus C-725UZ digicam and 64MB xD memory card for $200. I've had them for 5 months now and I'm very happy with my purchases. This printer replaced an HP Desk Jet that was getting up there in years. (I ...
Pros: Decent quality prints. Cons: Clogged nozzles. Defaults to color mode. No black printing when any color is empty.
I usually look at the reviews before purchasing electronics but I needed a printer fast and this one came with a rebate that reduced the cost so much, I just grabbed it. It has good quality prints when it works. I printed a few pictures to test it, ...
Pros: Tech support replaced printer when they couldn't fix it. Cons: Two identical printers have "died" after light use.
We purchased the c86 about 2-3 years ago when we were in the market for a capable printer that would also be able to print pictures. Epson came highly recommended by a few different individuals (who shall remain nameless) so we thought we'd try it. 2 ...
Pros: Sleek and stylish, beautiful prints, convenient warranty service Cons: Print heads clog, other durability issues
I purchased this printer over a year ago, used it for many months without problems. Due to the cost of ink I was purchasing cheaper replacements from eBay. The print quality lasted for about 6 months or more and began to diminish slightly. Before it ...
I have burned up a number of printers outputting reports at work. My last printer was an Epson C82, which lasted about ten months. Because of a replacement policy I ended up with a C86. I absolutely hate this printer. I output thirty to forty page ...
Pros: There are no pros about this printer. It is not worth the hassle for cost. Cons: It prints bad pictures, alot of paper jams, and uses ink fast. i regret buying.
I first bought my Epson stylus C86 because I got such a good deal it was unbeatable. Many of us has once in their life took a deal because of the price and wasn't exactly sure of what we getting ourselves into. Well, that's what happened alright. I ...
Worked for about a week, then stopped printing black (not even the slightest bit). Cartridge obviously had ink left because I could hear it sloshing around and the meter on the computer still said 3/4 full. Epson service was 0 help...it was printing color just fine so it was not printer communication, etc as they repeatedly had me check. Bought a new black cartridge...still same result. I gave up. Frustration that's not worht the savings. Get a quality product.
Pros: It was free and easy to install Cons: Clogged ink nozzles
Won't run unless all ink cartridges show as having ink in them!
I've had two Epson printers now and both died from LACK OF USE.
It is impossible to clean the nozzles and get the Epsons working again if you don't use them constantly.
I will never buy another Epson product, I must admit this one was a freebie with a Camera, but what good is free garbage! Geez We have to pay to have it hauled away. Let Epson throw it out themselves.
I'm going back to HP. I have a dinosaur HP 540 that only holds one cartridge, you have to switch back and forth for color. It sat for 4 years in the basement not hooked up or plugged in. I plugged it in and ran a test page and it works perfect! It is now on my sons computer on the 4+ year old ink cartridge!
The C86 won't run unless all cartridges show as having ink, It won't print black and white text unless the color cartridges have ink!
Malfunctioning Hardware by cruzinpattis ,Mar 08 '07
Pros: Lasts for a year than dies. That's what you get for a cheap printer Cons: Heads dry up which are not repairable.
Today, my Epson C86 stopped printing. It sounded like it was printing but without any print.
I did the following steps-
Cleaned Head Several Times
Nozzle Check
Print Head Alignment
New Ink Cartridges
Shut Down Printer Test - did not print so it''s not the software or driver
Checked Port
Device Manager
Online Troubleshooting Guide - Could not help need to contact technical
assistance
Printer on Flat Surface
Solid Green light
Turned on and off printer - Turned on and off PC still would not print
This is my third Epson printer. I was extremely pleased with this product until this happened. I went online to research what else I could to do to get my C86 printer to print. What I found was astonishing, site after site,
complaint after compliant on how common this problem is. Including, how Epson is aware that the heads clog up because of the small hardware used and does not fess up to it.
Wrote Epson and their response was that it appears as though the printer hardware itself is malfunctioning and will require service. Even though they are aware of C86 issues.
Save your money on this printer....Won't last....
