Pros: Nothing good.
Cons: Landfill now.
Summary: I too bought this shredder at Costco. Worked good for a while, but as time went on it seemed to get slower and jam with only a few sheets. Please understand - I do not have this thing in a office, it's just for personal use, maybe 10-15 sheets a day, as ... read more

Pros: Low cost - not "cheap"
Durable with care - know your tools.
Cons: Low Cost -thus requires some thought to use.
Summary: Purchased 2001 or -02. Loading 8 pgs could hear labor, so try not to, but it works with care for paper weights. Home use, pull it apart and clean the cutter heads from bottom as shred sticky labels one gets in mail that find ways to stick to the ... read more

Pros: it was cheap
Cons: it is cheap
Summary: I have never really fed mine more than 4 or 5 sheets at a time and after the first few months I cut that back to one page at a time. It always jams and you have to reverese it back and forth to get it to feed. it still works but just ... read more

Pros: worked well for a few years in light home use
Cons: broke down far sooner than it should have
Summary: Bought at costco, worked well for about three years although it got slower and slower, finally stopped working. Took it apart and found two of the nylon gears totally stripped of cogs - cannot find replacement. I will take it back to ... read more

Pros: cuts paper into small bits
Cons: very short life span even though I was using it at home with light usage
Summary: I was replacing another Fellowes shredder that just cut in strips but was a workhorse. I always have had trouble with it though it got very mild use. It is so frustrating. I turned it over to see what the problem was, and same as others ... read more

Pros: available every where
Cons: over priced junk ... plain and simple
Summary: This is the second of these Fellowes that I have bought. The first one permanently jammed a few weeks after the warranty expired. This time, after carefully oiling and never exceeding the paper maximum, it is headed to the dumpster after about the same ... read more

Pros: Works good with about 5 sheets.
Cons: Jams a lot, then breaks a cog in the (junk) plastic gear.
Summary: Bought at Costco about 4 years ago. worked fine, but jams a lot. It quit yesterday, took it apart and found that a nylon gear about the size of a 50 cent piece had 1 cog broken off. SO, alas, It is no more good, Fellows Customer Service said to throw ... read more

Pros: Worked well for six months.
Cons: Useless after six months.
Summary: I purchased one of these for my office. Seemed like it worked well, so I bought two more. None were used for more than 20-30 sheets a day. After about 6-8 months, they all started to break gears and now can do only 1-2 sheets at a time, and won't shred ... read more

Cons: note past tense of pros
Summary: This shredded well for one year in a very small office. Recently the little plastic pieces that hold the teeth caved in and were shredded. Now just a single sheet of paper jams the machine. In our throw-away culture this machine is not bad. I would ... read more

Pros: Gets the job done until it breaks. Auto feature is convenient.
Cons: Not durable, cannot repair.
Summary: Bought at Costco, now past warranty. Yes, it jams too often, but gets the job done. But the icing is that one of the plastic drive gears broke and IT CAN'T BE REPLACED!!! FELLOWES DOES NOT STOCK PARTS! (Gears don't seem to be readily available ... read more

Pros: Reasonable speed and volume, reliable, needs little intervention from user.
Cons: Limited to 9" paper in shorter dimension (true of most home shredders, in my experience).
Summary: I replaced an old wastepaper top shredder, constantly jamming and limited to a few pages at a time, with the DM8C last year and have no complaints at all. It's sufficiently powerful that I don't bother to take my large shredding jobs into the office to ... read more

Pros: None I can find.
Cons: Jams constantly; poor paper feed.
Summary: This shredder is one of the worst I've come across. It is supposed to handle 8 sheets, but it jams regularly with 2-4. I spend more time cleaning out the blades and unsticking jams than I do shredding. First, the paper feed is a pain. Paper must be ... read more

Pros: Powerful, quiet, great for cards, full size plug, nicely designed catch bin, large cutters.
Cons: Haven't encountered any yet.
Summary: Wanting a crosscut shredder, I researched a replacement for an old Fellowes PS 50 strip shredder. The problem was that there were so many choices with widely varying opinions, that I went on overload and shutdown. Then I went to Costco and was handed a ... read more

Pros: Performs as rated.
Summary: I am replacing a Royal 80x shredder, which just made it past the warranty period before breaking down. That is precision engineering for you. The Fellowes DM8C is much quieter than I had expected. I have run this machine at its rated capacity without ... read more
