Super Shredder

by meadgrl589 , Feb 26 '08
Pros: Works fine and minimal noise- not too pricy
Cons: none I can think of
This is a mighty fine shredder. It really gets the job done whatever the job is. I was very paranoid about my personal documents being stolen or looked at, so I decided to buy a shredder for the security it offers. I got this one because it fit in my ...

Fellowes confetti shredder 70cm - fabulous
by wandacook ,Mar 02 '05
Pros: Quiet, accepts staples, credit cards as well as 6-7 sheet capacity; Great! Inexpensive.
Cons: One minor thing is that you may see some paper dust because of mesh basket.
I love this shredder. Bought at Wal-mart for about $38. This is a confetti type shredder, much better than the strip cut types, I owned one of those prior to this and gave it away. This one has a black wire mesh basket so that you can see when it fills up with paper shreds. There is some paper dust because it is mesh, however, you can set it inside a box top or something if you want. I did not mind it; it is so worth it. I shredded for days and could not be happier. Motor runs only when it is shredding and is off the rest of the time. It is very quiet, not as noisy as my old one. It takes staples easily and I even put credit cards through it and had no problem. It does not advertise that it takes credit cards, but I will continue to use it for that, as necessary, or it stops. I would buy it again.

You get what you pay for
by pnwconsumer ,Oct 16 '06
Pros: price is right, quite operation, stylish
Cons: nylon gear strips when jammed, no replacement parts available
An overall good shredder for the price. I was able to use it carefully with no problems for about a month. I ran into a problem when I placed a whole closed envelope in the shredder and it stripped the gear.

In order to make the shredder quiet for home use Fellowes uses a nylon gear to connect the metal gear of the motor to the metal gears of the shredding teeth wheels. When jammed, the motor can strip out the nylon gear. This leaves you with a quietly spinning motor and motionless shredding teeth.

I called Fellowes for a replacement part, but they do not offer them for this shredder model. The guy on the phone knew what my problem was before I even told him. He then offered me a deal on a refurbished shredder instead of shipping me a part that would cost less than a dollar.

Wish mine worked.
by razingkane ,Jan 21 '07
Pros: It's quite.
Cons: Does not work.
Well my shredder does not work. Less than a month of shredding normal junk mail and it has pretty much given up. Most of the time it will not shred at all. The metal pin on the basket that pushes the safety switch does not actually push the switch. I have to push a pen against the safety switch to get it to work. I have to open most of the envelopes and feed a couple of pages at a time. Forget about getting one of the fake credit cards to feed through it.

Fellowes P70CM Shredder
by mollynona ,Apr 25 '08
Pros: Easy to use. Low Maintenance. Shreds staples and credit cards easily.
Cons: Overheats (shuts down) if used too long. Limited # of pages per shred.
This was my first Fellowes shredder. Previously owned Royals. This shredder is a significant improvement. I have used it to shred at least three or four thousand sheets of paper with no significant problems.

You have to be careful and not use it for too long at one time. It overheats and shuts down. Takes at least an hour to cool down.

Also, you have to be careful if you shred many documents that have stickly labels on them. They tend to clog up the shredding mechanism. Unfortunately, our pharmacy prints "info" sheets that are sticky. If I shred too many of them I have to open it up and clean off the gears. But, that happens with all shredders, this is not just a problem with Fellowes products.

Other than that, have had no problems. I do occasionally use "maintenance" sheets to keep it in good working order.

Decent shredder
by vincentyu781 ,Mar 16 '07
Pros: Compact. Durable.
Cons: Too compact. Jamming.
Shredders are shredders. The only differences are the size (big or small), how many sheets of paper it can shread (6-8), what kind of shred (strip or confetti), and how much sound it makes (soft or loud). This shredder does its job. It shreds and shreds. I feel like it is a bit on the small side, at least for me. I constantly shred stuff and this guy fills up fast. If you don't empty it and it reaches the top, it can start jamming. Not hard to unjam though. Shredder prices are all over the place. I say, if you are just shredding here and there, than this is fine.
