Pros: A very different flavor Cons: An incredibly bad taste
I once related, in a previous review (of Grand Marnier), the tale of how I received a present one Christmas of some small samples of spirits, along with a book of recipes to make with them. I further noted that I never actually made any of the recipes,...

Fernet with coke like in Argentina, Truth
by armenio70 ,Sep 14 '05
Pros: High alcohol level, great mix
Does not give you a strong hangover Cons: It might take time to get used to the flavor, but it is worth it
Fernet is a typical Italian "amari", itīs a digestive and it was born to his means. But Argentina, a country were Italian immigrants are a majority gave a new sense to Fernet. When I say fernet I mean Branca, despite there are other wannabes: International: Fernet Cinzano, Martini & Rossi, and Argentinean: Vitone, Otone, Lusera, Stock, Capri, Porta, etc.)
According to reliable statistics Argentina produces and consumes up to 70% of world Fernet, and Cordoba, Argentinaīs second city consumes almost 50% by itself.
Where is the explanation to so much fernet? Fernet in Argentina is no longer a digestive or old men beverage, young people drinks it at discos, bars and pubs mixed with coke and ice, just like in a Cuba Libre.
I have to accept first times with Fernet can be tough for some people, but when you drink it with coke, itīs a matter of adding just a bit of Fernet and increase it in time.
Ideal proportion does not exist, but I can say you have to have at least three large ice cubes, and range or proportion of fernet/coke varies from 10%/90% to 50%/50% (that last one just for very brave people)

The Adult version of Jagermeister
by imnarwhal ,Jun 01 '05
Pros: Interesting flavor, healthy, no sugar, cures an upset stomach...and a hangover. Cons: None
I consider Fernet Branca the Jager for adults. Folks either love it or hate it. I loved it. It has all the henefits of herbs, minerals and other good things, but without the sugar you find in Jager.
I get an upset stomach quite often & one shot of this makes me feel all better. It is the best digestive tonic I have ever tried.
Do a shot with a gingerale chaser, try some in a shot of expresso....or just take a sip to see if you like it. I tried it at a recent art showing...and bought a bottle the next day.
