Pros: Very detailed sound even at low volumes. Low price comparing to higher series. Cons: none
I've been reading a lot about focal speakers. I wanted pro sound but my budget was limited. I knew utopia and k series were next to perfect but I wasn't sure about the cheaper polyglass series. Got'em anyway. I'm using Alpine MRV-F407 amplifier. And ...
Awesome speakers for money by focalboy ,Aug 29 '05
Pros: - crystal clear with smooth midrange
- value Cons: - tweeters may sound harsh if not properly installed/tuned.
Absolutely amazing speakers, especially for the money. Vocals coming from these Focals are absolutely wonderful, especially female vocals. Very powerful yet detailed. I'm running them passively off the included crossover with -6db for the tweeters.
You do not need to crank the volume to get the detail. Everything is balanced and crisp. However, installation is very important. Like any good component set, the placement of the tweeters is key to getting the optimal imaging and sound quality. Spend time on the installation and you will not dissapointed.
Bottom line is that you get a very good intro to audiophile grade equipment for a very reasonable price. Just make sure to match these up with a good amplifier and subwoofer. I use the Audison SRx3 and Focal SB33V2 subwoofer.
Best Sound I have Ever Heard by joelw55 ,Jul 31 '06
Pros: Great bass and accuracy, good rich sound and good SPL Cons: Mounting depth
I Bought this set of splits a while ago after reading all the reviews on how Awesome they are. AND THEY ARE FANTASTIC.
Great bass, even though my doors are not sound deadened. I love the clarity, and the longer you have them the deeper sound they get. When i first put them in I thought they where a bit sharp, but now they are correctly tuned and worn in they sound beautiful. Their accuracy is good, now i know a bad recording when i hear one. When it comes to speakers, Focal is the way to go.
