I have had my Emerson EWD2203 dvd/vcr combo for almost 4 years and it has always worked perfectly. It has never given me problems. One of the best things that I have bought so far. I love it!

We have had it for about 10 months now and it works great.Plays everything it is suppose to play and remote works fine.We buy Emerson most of the time and hardly ever have a problem.

I bought the Emerson 2203 dvd/vcr combo in May 2003. I've had it for almost a year now, and there's never been any problems with either the dvd or the vcr functions. It also plays cds and mp3s just fine. I've read other reviews which stated there were problems within a few weeks of purchase. Maybe I just lucked out.

Pros: relatively inexpensive, VHS part is OK.
Cons: DVD player is completely defective, sound is horrible, warranty horrible

DVD player on this unit stopped working after 3 months (as soon as labor warranty expired, oddly enough). The VHS part is decent, but recording menu is time consuming and complicated.

Everything on the Emerson works except it will not record from the TV. Only had it a couple of months. Even the 1st time I tried to record from the TV it didn't work right. Called Wal-Mart & they said bring it in & they would exchange it. Maybe this time the new one will work.

It works great for the first few months, then the dvd tray decided to just stop working. It keeps opening and refuses to play anything. We haven't contacted customer service yet and after reading reviews here, we may not bother. We did learn though that Wal-mart does not do product testing on their merchandise, which is why ours probably doesn't work.

I bought this DVD player for my parents to bring them into the 21st century. I didn't want to spend a ton of money, so when I saw the Emerson for $99 - I jumped on it. Unfortunately, you get what you pay for. I bought it last year, and the prices have already gone down so much - that I could have a good one now for the same price.

Pros

It works OK as a basic vcr and dvd player. It does record and play vcr tapes, and it does play dvd (I guess I've been lucky that is hasn't broken yet - we don't play DVDs on it very much).

Cons

I don't like that it doesn't have a clock on it. The DVD player is pretty cheap - bare minimum. The remote control sucks. The placing of the buttons, and some of the buttons themselves, make not sense. It is almost impossible to learn how to set it to record - and once you figure it out, most of the time it doesn't record.

Pros: Machine itself works
Cons: Remote died after less than 10 uses!

OK, I also purchased this 2203 Model! The machine currently is working, however the remote does not work at all, so the use of this machine is limited. If ANYONE with a JUNK machine has the remote laying around, I'd love to get one that will work!

I have had the Emerson EWD2203 for about 3 months i only watched about 5 DVDs and a few VHS tapes and it worked fine. I went to play a DVD on day and it wont work it keeps sayin "DISK ERROR" "MAY NOT BE A READABLE DISK" so i tried some more disks and they dont work either!! This thing in a piece of crap just like everyone else says Walmart and other stores need to check their products before letting people buy them! DONT BUY!

Pros: Appears to be of good quality,and worked ok with a very short life.
Cons: VCR worked for one week ,and DVD worked for three month. Big rip-off .

Appears to be a quality product,but only lasted a short time. The vcr only lasted one week and started destroying tapes and could not be used. Contacted Emerson and was told that they only cover the parts and not labor. The labor would probably would be almost the cost of the unit.
Stopped using the VCR and played the DVD which lasted about three month .and stopped reading .
