A Nice Big Dryer
by ramjetranch ,May 31 '05
Pros: Large capacity, SS drum, Humidity Sensor Cons: Somewhat cheap-looking control panel
This unit can really be stuffed with laundry. Yes, the items fall out when you open the door but the door is the correct height to accommodate the standard laundry basket, in front of it to catch the avalanche.
I thought that the stainless drum was just for looks but when something the kids leave in their pockets melts and sticks to the drum, there is no worry about damaging the paint when attacking it with abrasives and solvents (Goof Off).
I hate appliances with membrane pad push buttons. This machine has lots of big dials which make the settings very clear. This is the best equipped G.E. that does not have the membrane controls.
The humidity sensor actually works. This is the first dryer I've used where this is the case. That takes the guess work out of setting it.
I've had it about six months and my only complaint is that it makes a scraping noise until it heats up. On the other hand, I haven't bothered to call service on it either.
UPDATE: Unit is now 3.5 years old. Scraping noise gone. Working well. It's fairing better than my G.E. washer
