Pros: Extra freezer space, convenient water/ice dispenser, looks nice. Cons: Cramped refrigerator space.
This GE side by side is a nice looking refrigerator and would be great for a single person or a couple. It has plenty of room for leftovers and extra large freezer space for all those frozen dinners and desserts. The ice and water dispense from the ...

2 years old and going downhill
by nativeguy ,Feb 24 '08
Pros: Looks good, used to work great Cons: Doesn't work at all now
This refrigerator was bought in December 2005. I have since had it worked on for a howling noise and a frozen water line. The repair costs were almost $200.00. This was October 2007. December 2007, the water and ice dispenser quit working (didn't bother to get it fixed yet). February 24, 2008, the refrigerator and freezer are getting warmer by the minute. I read somewhere on the internet that for this particular model I should unplug, wait a bit, and plug back in. If this does not work and has to be replaced, it will be replaced by anything except a GE/Hotpoint.

too small
by elizloucen ,May 09 '05
Pros: none Cons: too many to list
these side by sides are ineffective at this size. The freezer is a joke - I use my old fridge in the basement to put larger items in, because this model doesn't fit much. If you ever entertain, don't bother with this. You can't fit a platter into the fridge - the shelves aren't wide enough. On mine, it takes forever for the ice to come out of the dispenser and the water flow is way too slow. If you are a family of two you can manage with the overall capacity, but for a family of four, it's way too small. If you can't fit a larger refrigerator in your space, get a regular top/bottom. You will otherwise be sorry.

Stay Away From GE
by sgalgoci ,May 29 '07
Pros: I have a refrigerator. Cons: Door slides down.
Makes a loud howling noise.
Poor quality.
This refrigerator is too small but that is not my major complaint. We had to pay to have someone come out when we first got it because the door kept sliding down so in turn the light would stay on and everything on the top shelf was warm. The problem has since reoccurred and my husband has to go back and keep adjusting it.
It's been making an annoying noise for quite a while, (like the wind howling loudly) and just this morning I got up to hear it making a new noise. I'm sure it's probably going to need to be fixed but I will be replacing it. Just like we did our GE stove top range that was only 2&1/2 yrs. old. The fridge is not quite 3 yrs. old. GE does not make appliances to last very long at all. I will never buy another GE appliance!! Don't waste your money!!
