We purchased it couple years ago when we remodeled our kitchen. Refrigerator, Dishwasher, Stove, Microwave. All profile. About 6 months ago it would just stop running. It will run for 2 seconds and shut off and you have to reset everything. It did it a couple times at first, now it does it most of the time. We are very disappointed with this microwave. We will not buy another.

Pros: It looks great with the rest of my GE applicances.
Cons: It has had two major problems within four years and costs too much to repair.

I am with Tiff. I built a new home and it had all GE appliances. I had the fan stop and replaced it within a year. Now I cannot even start it due to the electronics. The microwave will not accept input. Nothing works. I am an 66 retiree so use it to reheat things. I have had other microwaves that lasted 15 years. This one is less than 4 years old and has been used only to reheat maybe a few times a week.

Pros: Nice design & features. Easy to clean. Good size   
Cons: Quality,durability not in this product.  Parts OVER-PRICED  

We purchased three GE appliances in August 2004 and have made great friends and given money to our local appliance repair company. Our JVM2070SH Microwave starting cutting off intermittently with no apparent pattern the first two months and continued over the next few years.  This is annoying because we thought we had electrical problems with circuit.  The overhead light had to be replaced numerous time. Now the glass has shattered in pieces behind the control panel.  In researching it appears that the part would be approximately $350 - $400 to replace.  We paid over $500 for the microwave. The design is great and the features but the most important part the electronics are worth nothing. Between the GE Refrigerator/Side by Side repairs and now getting error messages when I clean my GE drop in oven and now the microwave. I am definitely frustrated!  We will NEVER purchase GE products again.  GE customer service was unprofessional and uncaring to deal with; as well as the Marketing Department in responding to my complaint.  The former CEO, Jack Welch needs to return to GE and   FIX  their attitude and make GE a worthwhile appliance investment.  I hope I never win GE appliances on a gameshow, I definitely would tell them to keep them.

While in the middle of cooking it would simply shut itself off and would come back on prompting to reset the time. This would happen intermittently with no apparent pattern. We're very frustrated with this product and will definitely choose a different brand if we decide to replace it.

These complaints will not look good in GE's six sigma bottom line.

My last microwave lasted 20+ years and was working fine when I sold it with my last house 2 years ago!

We purchased our GE microwave February of 2004, prior to a big kitchen remodel. The remodel was finished June 2005, when the Microwave was put in service. This was three months ago. Our GE Profile (JVM2070SH001) died this week, after ONLY three months of use. The unit died while I was heating up a sausage for 2 minutes. Because we bought the microwave over a year ago (it is recommended that you have your appliances on hand and ready for the kitchen design and cabinet installation) we no longer have warranty. Paid about $470 for the unit that worked only three months.
Intelligence meets beauty? I DON'T THINK SO!!! This GE appliance is not a good investment! Now I'm worried about our GE Profile fridge, stove and dishwasher that replaced our old appliances which lasted 15-33 years without complaints.

Cons: Cost more to fix than new

Just bought house that had this over the range GE Profile 2.0 model and it died completely. Could not even use the vent-a-hood which meant limited cooking on the range. It was manufactured January 2005 so it was probably less than 2 years old since being installed. Just the part to fix it is $443 plus the ridiculous service labor making cost to repair well over $600 for something less than 2 years old. No more GE for me.

Cons: CHEAP...Breaks easy and the manufacture does not stand by their product!

I have this Microwave that came with my new home, and the first think to go was the push buttons to the Blower. Next was the retractable vent, and for the last straw, the key pad had a short with an error code F3. I called for service, and it would be $79.00 just to look at it. The replacement part control console is $400. The replacement part would come with a 5 year warranty, but the new microwave only comes with a 1 year warranty....It's cheaper to replace it with a new (Non-GE) Microwave.

Pros: I wouldn't even mention them here if I could think of any.
Cons: It breaks... duh.

I bought this product for my home in 2005 along with a GE oven, fridge, Dishwasher, Washer and Dryer. I liked the look of the microwave and the touch pad controls. The General Electric JVM2070SH 1100 Watts Convection / Microwave Oven is the only appliance of all that has failed me not once, but twice.  It seems like this thing has gotten pretty consistent bad reviews here.  I'm not paying another $200 to have a 4 year-old microwave fixed again. If I wanted a $1000 microwave, I would have bought one in the first place.

OMG, the same thing exactly started happening two weeks ago. The unit is only 2 years old and after running for 5 seconds or so will just cut off. I had an appliance guy come look at it and he called the help line that only techs have and they say its the magnetron ($98)
