Pros: Fast, light, compact, excellent display resolution and quality, daylight readable, dual-mode (marine/automotive), long battery life Cons: Loss of screen real-estate to directions, engineering of the vehicular mount, proprietary memory system.
The last time I updated this review was July 2007, I am revisiting it to announce that effective yesterday the 376c was officially discontinued by Garmin . . . after more than 4 years in distribution, I STILL consider this series to ...

Pros: High res transreflective screen, battery powered, huge tracklog Cons: Proprietary memory card, software is extra cost item
The GPSMap 276C is a great GPS for motorcycles and cars. Main advantages over the Garmin 2610: battery power and a 3x higher resolution screen that's transreflective and viewable in direct sunlight with no backlight. Battery is proprietary removable ...

Best Multi Purpose GPS so far...
by m0m0 ,May 22 '06
Pros: Garmin Quality and software (also Google Earth) Cons: The extra road kit. Expensive
After using many other types of GPS receivers, I finally ended up with the GPSMap276C. The choice for this machine came after lots of reading and studying what was available. Garmin made it very clear that for car use, you need the (extra) road pack. The road kit I have includes all software, 256MB card, Car dash mount, Ram mount (for the bike) and all the remaining things like car power supply etc. And this combination works without any problem. The reason of the 276C over other units is that it combines everything a GPS has to do. Locating where you are, Multi Route and Track options, Turn by Turn routing, independent power supply, reachargeble battery. Great color screen and easy to use (if you know how GPS units works. I use it mainly on my motorbike but also in the car and for my work.

Extremely dissatisfied
by customerzxcv ,Jan 26 '05
Pros: None that I can describe so far Cons: Everything
Received a 276C for Christmas. Expected to use it for auto navigation. Unit contained no software and memory - had to contact company. Installed "Trip & waypoint manager" - useless. Had to recontact company to obtain "City select" software and 256 Data Card for an additional $325.92. Have not yet received this order, but at the rate I am going I will probably throw this unit out and buy another brand.
