Pros: Solid metal body, small size, good 1.5" LCD Cons: Inconsistent white balance & color, memory errors - Updated: See Fix!!
When I received an e-mail from Gateway offering me $100 dollars off the purchase price of the DC-T50, I was intrigued. I checked it out on their Web site and found that in addition to the coupon, there was a $50 rebate also available (without purchasing ...
Pros: small, great resolution, easy to use, good price Cons: battery could last a bit longer and shutter could snap a bit faster
After almost two years of digital camera hell (see my review of the Si

Pros: Better specs, construction and more gadgets for the money. Cons: None
If your looking for a quality entry level/ normal use camera this is a great buy. I have had this one for six months now and have loved it. I'm no photographer and this camera is very easy to use. The picture quality is great with 5.25 megapixels which I ...
Pros: Small size, many features. Cons: Slow focusing speed and intermittent compartment door contact.
My wife ordered the Gateway DC-T50 digital camera from Overstock.com. The price was very attractive for the amount of features and 5 megapixel resolution. PROS: Small size. It fits easily in a shirt or pants pocket. It is not very deep, so it doesn't ...
Pros: Low price, small size, 5-megapixels, movie mode, full features Cons: Slow auto focus, occasionally grainy preview, only 32MB card included
This is my first digital camera, so I won't be able to offer you a broad range of how each feature compares to the other top five models. I have borrowed a Kodak digital camera before, and when purchasing for myself chose the Gateway over the latest ...
Pros: Nice looks, Good pictures, movie mode. Cons: Battery life ,Doesn't work properly 90% of the time.
The Gateway DC-T50 Digital Camera gives you a nice introductory period where it takes excellent ,clear and vivid pictures and makes you feel like you made the best buy of your life. But when that period ends and you unknowingly carry your precious ...
Pros: Size, weight, price, features. Cons: extra batteries not yet available, no time lapse
I have been looking at purchasing a 5 mega pixel camera for a few weeks. I was looking mainly at either the Minolta F100 or the Cannon S50, but checked out the Gateway T50 when I saw an advertisement for it for only $399. I ended up purchasing the T50 c ...
Pros: Cheap, lightweight, small, takes good pictures Cons: Freezes, errors in all functions!
I bought this camera in July 2004 based on the high megapixel, to low cost ratio. It was new then, so there weren't any bad reviews, but on my first trip with it, the camera would freeze with the lens cap open...annoying but the pictures were great. In ...
Pros: small, compact size Cons: auto focus bad; you can only charge battery when it is in the camera.
I bought this camera mainly because of its small size so I could take it on vacation. It certainly is a good size, but the picture quality was less than desired, I expected better. Though I worked with it and worked with it, a majority of the shots ...
Pros: Nothing pros, cheaplemon, understand why so many Gateway incentives and rebates to unload DC-T50 Cons: Please stay away from it, no more Gateway trash fool me once.
Cheap.Junk stopped working after about 1 1/2 year of owning it, NOT using it.
In fact, used it for less than 40 days, all combined :(
Call Gateway,of course, warranty expired.
Protected card error made me miss birthday pix! by leekaye ,Jun 10 '07
Pros: Great price, good pics (when it works) Cons: Inadequate support; Random error msgs make camera unusable
This worked great for about 2 weeks then I started getting random "Protected Card" errors just as so many others are getting. Support has been less than helpful.
The size and ease of use had us thrilled with the quality for the price. But the bugs and random error messages (they sometimes disappear when you fiddle with the settings) appearing after only two weeks of use have caused us many missed shots.
The camera (for which we paid $450 inc. a memory card) is worthless now. Gateway support sends form email replies to our requests for service and the store tech has been unable to answer any of our questions.
This has been one of the worst experiences we have had with any purchase we have made.
Problems with my DC-T50 Digital Camera by carlisa ,Dec 22 '04
Pros: light weight, easy to operate, takes great pictures Cons: cannot repair with out the cost of a new camera
I only had my camera for a little over a year and I see that the warranty has expired. The problem is that I purchased the camera from Gateway and I was just told that the camera is no longer one they sell. I asked them if it was possible for me to send in the camera for repair and I was informed that it would cost $85 to send it in and the cost of another camera, because they would not repair it because it possibly couldn't be repaired. Now just last year, it was a hot item, and now one year later, it's not in their inventory and won't repair. This just doesn't seem right to me. I told them about the error code that I had and they can't repair it because they don't even have a code book for the camera.
As long as the camera worked, I was totally pleased. I had no regrets and still don't, just unsatisfied.
Camera is HORRIBLE-Customer Service is WORSE by all4snit ,Apr 09 '05
Pros: Small, Compact-great for taking along everywhere you go. Cons: Lithium Battery doesn't recharge after the initial time
I've had this camera for about 7 months. Actually I'm on my 2nd camera because the first one stopped charging. Gateway sent me a brand new camera, which took about 2 months to get. My 2nd camera has also stopped charging so once again I called Gateway and after getting the run around they told me they were sending me a new charger cord, that supposedly was the problem. I've received my new charger which also doesn't work. Basically I cannot get the camera to charge and therefore cannot use. Customer Service at Gateway told me there is basically nothing I can do as far as getting my money back because they've got a 15 day return policy.
Pros: Takes excellent pictures and the 45 second video feature is really great to have. Cons: All of the Card errors cost me a lot of great photographs.
I can't believe it- after over a year of problems with this camera I was finally able to get it to work right! (more often than not I would get error codes such as: "CARD READ ERROR" "NO CARD" "PROTECTED CARD") All I did was cut a small strip of heavy paper & put it between the memory card & door cover. I had to be careful no to break the cover but once I got it shut the camera worked fine on the first try. I wish I had come up with this solution a year ago!
Gateway Customer Service is TERRIBLE by worchie ,Nov 29 '04
Pros: The camera took great photos for a while. Cons: Since the camera stopped working, customer service has been a nightmare.
I've had the camera for almost a year, and even though it worked well, the night of MY ENGAGEMENT, the camera broke. (The zoom lens got stuck in the open position, and the camera wouldn't work.)
I promptly sent my camera to Gateway, after being told that it would be fixed and returned to me as soon as possible. Over two months later, I still don't have my camera. I've constantly called customer service, and I've been told something different each time. Apparently, my camera was lost after it was received. Then it was supposedly returned to the wrong address, even after I confirmed the correct address.
A condescending supervisor has now told me I should receive it "before Christmas," as if this is doing me a favor.
Since Gateway closed all its stores, there is no one to hold accountable. I would be wary before purchasing a camera from Gateway.
