We did a lot of research and added this system to our registry because it got great safety reviews and because of the smooth riding air tires. We received it as a gift on our registry and after our baby was born took her for about 5 short trips in the str ...
Great car seat, tough navigation by sdstewart ,May 11 '05
Pros: Fabric washes well, lightweight, exceptional car seat Cons: Rubber wheels, wide base make difficult to maneuver on some surfaces
We chose this travel system over the others because it seemed to be easier to push for tall parents. Others we tested we tended to kick the wheels. The Car seat is great...We have a base in each of our vehicles. The fabric washes up nicely on both the stroller seat and the car seat. The fabric on the stroller hood gets soiled easily and can not be laundered, though.
Originally we thought the rubber wheels would be great since we do a lot of walking around our neighborhood sidewalks. The rubber wheels do make for a smooth ride. However, we found that we use the stroller in stores more often. The rubber makes it difficult to maneuver on carpeted surfaces in stores. The wheel base seems a bit wider than other models, too. I find myself pushing the handle down to get the front wheels off the floor to get them aligned straight. One of the tires developed a small leak, so I am constantly having to pump it.
I would buy a GRACO again, especially with the Snugride travel seat, but would NOT buy a model with rubber wheels.
Pros: -Car seat among the best
-Stroller collapses easily Cons: -Heavy
-Front tray gets scraped up easily
-Hard to navigate sometimes
-Storage bin small
I received this stroller as a shower gift, so I didn't pay for the travel system.
There is a great divide amongst parents as to whether travel systems are the way to go. I believe for the first few months, they are indispensible!! I like the ability to move the infant carrier from the stroller to the base - babies are certainly disturbed much less.
The carseat is outstanding - Graco's SnugRide carseats are consistently rated well in Consumer Reports and among parents. However, the handle is not ergonomic and it can be uncomfortable to carry a little one for long stretches.
As for the stroller, it is OK. I find it hard to navigate on carpet sometimes and it is on the heavy side. It collapses easily, but I find when it does collapse, the plastic tray out front touches the ground and get beat up pretty fast.
The tires are rubber inflatable tires and does have a much smoother ride than old plastic tires. It also comes with its own air pump, which is nice.
