Pros: Audiophile Quality Sound Reproduction, Extensive Feature Set, 7 Channel Amplification, Styling Cons: A Few Additional Inputs Would Have Been A Bonus
Pre-Purchase Considerations I have been purchasing Kenwood receivers for years, as I always felt that they provided good sound quality and features at a reasonable price point. I had most recently purchased the VR-510 THX Select model back in ...
Pros: Wonderful sound quality with punch and detail, exhaustive feature list, well thought out machine Cons: Odd tuner design, reliability?
SOUND: The 525 has a beautiful sound, with tight detailed bass, a neutral and detailed midrange, and perhaps a slightly laid back top end. imaging and openness are excellent - much better than my previous Technics receiver or even my Hill Audio ...
Pros: Attractive
Clean and Powerful
Cons: Heavy
Speaker terminals too close together
Im on my second HK AVR525; the first one was factory reconditioned and suffered from a sort of electronic convulsion symptoms it was strange to watch it react as if it were possessed. As interesting as that seems, it is ultimately unusable. ...
Pros: EZset, durable chassis, powerful processor, many connections. Cons: Gold connections would be nice--an LCD remote too for a receiver so expensive
I've had this AVR525 for the past 6 months, and i can tell you that it is AMAZING. 1) EZset The EZset system uses a microphone on the end of the receiver remote to be able to automatically sense all the sound pressure levels of all the speakers in ...
As with all my stuff, I got this one from ebay with one channel blown up for $202.50 US Build Quality: Unlike the previous "0" series (AVR 120, 320, 520...), this one was exceptionally free from quality control issues (connectors 1/2 on, bad ...
Retail price is 1299. i got it for 649. Harman Kardon is the best company out there for receivers. I reccomend this to all people seeking a great sound system. It is awesome with my bose acoustomass 6 speakers. They do not lie about the wattage rating....

I bought this reciever to replace an older Pioneer that started having problems. I am getting a new surround and wanted something that would power it well, with exceptional sound quality. Hooking it up wasnt too bad, except the weight of the unit made it a little tough to get behind it and hook up my stuff, but its not that big of a deal. Vmax is a nice feature with just my 2 speakers hooked up right now. Sound quality is crystal clear, even on my 7 year old Pioneer speakers. My only complaint is that I wish it had one more fiber optic input in the back. It has two in the back and one in the front. I already have one occupied in the back from my Xbox and I am saving the other for my DVD player. I was just wanting more for my other video game systems...but oh well. All and all I am very happy with the unit and would recommend it to you.

Purchased this unit to replace an older Carver unit (Dolby Pro), with the hopes of doing it right. Brought the unit home and set it up. Setup was user friendly. This unit has a good feature set. However once the unit was up and running, I discovered that the sound was very brassy, tinny, hollow sounding, not at all what I had expected from a HK product, after all they invented the receiver. I was very disapointed, the video properties were quite good, but I simply could not stand the audio. I returned the receiver and picked up an Onkyo TXSR800, which the salesperson had advised me to get instead of th HK. He let me know, "I Told You So"! But any way if you like brassy , tinny sound perhaps this is for you, but it is definitely not for me.
