Pros: Excellent battery life (3+ hours with normal usage), inexpensive for what you get. Cons: No floppy drive, slow 4200RPM Hard Drive, Single battery bay, not the lightest.

Don't Buy this Laptop

Pros: Great customer service. Beautiful widescreen. Long battery life. Cheap. Cons: It keeps breaking.
I bought this laptop in the summer of 2003 before I went to college. Quite possible one of my worst purchases. I only got the standard 1 year warranty because I had never had a problem with computers before. 10 months later, I had to get HP/Compaq to fix the fan because it made a very very loud sound everytime it turned on. Great customer support. Fixed the problem fast and for free. Then, 4 months later, the backlight on my monitor died. I had to get that repaired (out of pocket) 250 dollars. Current problem, the PC Beep is constantly on. I think it's a sound card problem. I thought it was only a problem with my laptop. Nope. I have 3 friends at college who have the same laptop and have had problems. One kid had something get fried internally. He just had to get a new laptop because it would be too expensive to fix. Another kid had his his hard drive break (the components that make it spin broke and damaged his hard drive) He can't recover any of his data. Luckily he got the extended warranty. The third student hasn't had any problems. Yet...
