***HOW TO QUIET LOUD FANS*** This is an amazing laptoP!
by jason206 ,Jan 17 '04
Pros: Speed, processor, RAM, Everything rocks!
Cons: I would've said loud fans, but with the bios update to fix them, there's NONE!!!
I bought this laptop even after reading all the reviews that the fans were loud. I had to agree, the fans were loud BEFORE the bios update. To EVERYONE out there, who's only complaint are the loud fans...well, u can almost stop the noise COMPLETELY with the new bios update. Simply go to the HP site and download the new BIOS. You will be simply amazed at the difference. Some might be worried that because of the sudden difference, the laptop is not being cooled as well, but that is FALSE. The laptop is outta this world now that I have updated the bios and got rid of the annoying noise. But besides all that, this laptop is loaded! I am completely happy with my purchase. It is very fast and powerful and HP tech support has been awesome.

Good stats for the money, lacks refinement
by slabrider ,May 27 '04
Pros: powerful, solid, wireless ready
Cons: loud, doesn't disperse heat that well, speaker quality poor
I like my hp, but I feel that if I had bought a sony vaio I would have ended up with a better product. The scroll thingee on the touchpad almost never works, it gets hot pretty quickly , and it is way too loud. I bought it fully knowing that it would be loud and hot because I was warned that this computer has a desktop processor and not a mobile one, I couldn't resist though, at the time 2.4 ghz for around 1200 dollars was a steal. It's faults are annoying but I own two loud cars so I'm used to stuff making noise. And I can attest that this is a well built product. I am horrible to my possesions. I start breaking things from the day I buy them. I can't tell you how many times I've dropped my computer, but it runs like a champ.
