Pros: The cool factor, functionality, performance, ease of use Cons: Pricey, mediocre software
Is it me or are scanners kind of out of fashion? They seem to have served their purpose and now we have so many other technological options available to us that you just do not often see a scanner these days. However, there are those like me, who need ...
Pros: Great looks, awesome styling. Easy setup. Small footprint. Cons: SLLLOOOOWWWW. Horrible software. Less than stellar images. High price.
I purchased this at Fry's as kind of an impulse buy. I had always wanted a scanner, but hadn't done any research recently. I saw this, and remembered reading about it, but couldn't remember what the reviews said. So, I bought it. This was the first ...
Pros: Interesting design concept and easy alignment of the original Cons: Poor software and set up; single voltage power supply inappropriate for a portable unit
I have owned an HP Scanjet 4670 for about a year. Because I travel a lot I was attracted to this scanner for three reasons: it is relatively compact, the "glass" is polycarbonate and therefore could travel in a suitcase, and the scanner can be used to ...
Pros: Portability, ability to scan items other than pictures, negative and documents. Cons: Software is quirky.
I have owned this scanner for about 1 1/2 years. This scanner has the ability to be folded and put away, rather than sitting and taking up room on my desk. It scans pictures, slides, 35mm negatives (using an included transparent materials adapter) and ...
Pros: Snazzy hardware that worked for me Cons: Unprofessional software
I bought this nifty looking scanner on a impulse at Staples today. The software took a while to install, and the first scan was faulty, but after that the 4670 produced nice enough scans --- if you are only doing one. If you want to do multiple scans, ...
This is by far the best scanner I have ever used. The vertical design makes it extremely easy to scan large numbers of pictures or documents very quickly. Just drop them in and hit the scan button. With my old traditional flat bed scanner pictures ...
Pros: Stunning design. Fast preview time. Mobile scanner unit makes it more versatile. Cons: Only one frame of film at a time. Unknown scratch-resistance of polycarbonate "glass" platen.
I don't actually own this scanner, but here are some first impressions after playing with one at my local CompUSA. The scanner has a striking and elegant design, suggestive of titanium and glass (when it is actually metal-colored plastic and polycarbon ...
I recently bought the HP Scanjet 4600 scanner to replace my Epson Perfection 1250 scanner. I fell in love with the scanner's looks and features. With a resolution of 2400x2400 dpi and reasonable price I just had to have it. Setup: The setup of ...
Pros: Cool design, potential versatility Cons: Software, TMA, small construction flaw
I was looking for a scanner to digitize our old photos, mostly B&W, and for my daughter to scan her drawings and cards. 4670 caught my eye immediately as I saw it, and it was on sale in future shop for 250 and I could 150% price-match it in Staples for ...
Pros: Design, features, ease of use, practicality, looks. Cons: It's not being made anymore.
I bought this several years ago, and it leaves most flatbed scanners for dead. The ability to see exactly what you're scanning, and particularly the ability to separate the scanner from the 'lid' so that it will work just about anywhere. And it's a ...
Pros: scanjet 4670 is easy to hold, and use. Like ALMOST everything Cons: ArcSoft's software Panorama maker does not put together oversized scaned items
The scanjet is easy to use. The design is beautiful and modern. However, I have had a problem with the bundled software. I am concerned that HP's name is going to suffer because it has aligned itself with ArcSoft. I am an artist and purchased the ...
In spite of some of the reviews I have read online, we purchased the HP 4670 for use in our home/business. We purchased it from NewEgg.com at a great price, and it arrived in the original retail box with no damage, and three days early, thanks to FedEx ...
Great scanner but poor depth of field. by asyn42 ,Jan 02 '05
Pros: Great versatility, good scans, good resolution. Cons: Poor depth of field results in blurry scans of negatives and slides.
I shopped around, and really like the versatility of this scanner. I am using it with Win2K and have not seen any of the lockup problems some people reported. Also the lines through the images are not present on any of my scans so I would say those are defective units that should be returned.
The one problem area I have, is that the scanning has a very short depth of field. It works great on things right up against the glass. But get any distance away, even 1/16" inch, and you can start to blur the image at higher resolutions.
This was most obvious with the negative scanner. If you use the adapter they provide, the negative is about 1/16" away from the glass, and the scanned image comes out a little blurry. When I placed the negative outside the adapter and right up against the glass, it worked very well. But it's a crummy way to hold negatives.
Pros: Small footprint, high resolution options Cons: Horrendous software, long warm up time.
Like many others I saw this scanner on the shelf and said Oh I gotta have it. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE. If you are looking for a scanner with a minute plus lamp warm up time that takes forever to scan anything over 200 DPI, quirky software, and has compatibility issues with XP Pro than this is for you. To anyone getting device not recognized errors when connecting this scanner, I have 8 USB ports on my computer and my PC only recognizes the scanner on two of them, so try swapping some devices around. Thankfully I got the 2 year Best Buy warranty on this piece of junk so I will be getting it replaced when it is no longer on the shelf.
Pros: Looks cool on my desktop Cons: bad quality of slide scan and and copies
I have had this scanner for about a year now and keep hoping that I have overlooked something to make this scanner work better. It looks so great, but performs so average for the money. Was hoping to do decent slide scans, but all of them have streaks. The photo scans are OK, but I don't like the software that comes with it. And copies are slow and of poor quality. Slow is also the keyword for pictures scanned at high resolution. Plus HP has not answered any of my email questions. Setup was easy though, and I have no issues with Windows XP Home Edition compatibility. Buttons on side of scanner, though, have never worked. I am so disappointed and ready to claim my losses and sell this scanner.
