HP PSC 2355 All-in-one InkJet Printer

by ddustyrose Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Sep 20 '05
Pros: Performance, appearance, reliability, sharp prints, user friendly
Cons: No USB cable
My old Lexmark X83 printer/scanner/copier needed replacing again so instead of fighting the idea, it was time to do something. Change is a not a word often used in my vocabulary, which is why the Lexmark brand was bought more than once. ...

Great replacement for previous printer and scanner!

by v908 , Jun 13 '05
Pros: Print quality, ease of use, memory card support, LCD display, size.
Cons: Scanner is a bit noisy and first page out is slow (warm-up?).
I gave my previous Deskjet to my son, who's heading off to college (perfectly functional printer for his needs), and wanted to get an all-in-one printer/scanner/copier replacement that would at least provide the same quality of 4x6 and 5x7 prints as my ...

This is really ALL IN ONE!

by shawnashopper , Oct 01 '05
Pros: Fast, quiet, sharp, and easy to use.
Cons: No fax machine.
When I first went to purchase an All-In-One printer, the salesperson told me to keep my scanner because the scanners on the all-in-one's are not very good quality. I ended up purchasing the HP 2355 because it was a good price and the test copies came ...

Only The Best!

by z28chic , Mar 11 '05
Pros: Almost everything about it!
Cons: A little big and can be a little loud.
I received my printer directly from HP. I received this before it was released on the market because I am a beta tester for HP. I got it from UPS and opened it and my first words were "Wow" It's a really nice looking printer. I took it out of the box ...

Serviceable but not impressive

by misskris28 , Dec 16 '07
Pros: Fast and easy to use once it's installed, has a memory card slot
Cons: Miserable to install on a Mac, print quality isn't great
I've been using this printer for about a year and a half. I bought it to replace a bulky printer and a bulky, outdated scanner. While it is much more compact, quite frankly, the outdated scanner did a much better job of scanning, and the year older ...

I think HP makes quality printers and I am quite pleased with my printer.

by zesty1 , Feb 24 '05
Pros: Very nice LCD display, text, color/print quality and copier.
Cons: Scanner gets the job done, not bad, could be better.
I have owned this printer for 5 months. I was using it as a photo printer and copier without a PC for the entire time until yesterday when I decided to install and use with my PC because I finally needed to use the scanner. I liked this printer as a ...

Big, Bulky and sucks Ink but it's a nice printer!

by joni4ta , Feb 19 '07
Pros: Memory card slots, easy to use interface
Cons: Heavy software, uses lots of ink, large footprint
I guess for an all-in-one I shouldn't complain about this printer being big and bulky. It's not too terribly huge, but it sure takes up a lot of space on my desk compared to other things, to include my desktop PC. The software was a pain in the rear ...

HP PSC 2355 printer

by sweetsap , Oct 27 '05
Pros: inexpensive price, and durability. This printer won’t just die on you.
Cons: grainy picture quality. It is not a lab-quality photo printer
It prints, it scans, and it copies! Three very useful features for the every- day life of a student. When it comes to printers, it is easy to judge print quality when it comes to printing a photograph. This HP PSC 2355 All-In-One may not be capable of ...

alright, not great
by mckeough ,Mar 13 '05
Pros: sleek look, compact size
Cons: loud scanner, grainy photos
bought this because i was retiring my old hp. when we scanned, it was loud and not quite as user friendly as my old hp4200. when printing, the photos were somewhat grainy (you could see dots, even on the 4x6's.) we print a lot of pictures, so that was a big issue. we tried to like it for a couple of days, but in the end ended up returning it for hp8450 and decided to wait a bit for the scanner.

Noisy, squeeky
by billmcf ,Jan 21 '07
Pros: Compact, nice printer, scanner, very concise and easy to use.
Cons: noisy rollers, burps when starting, and now very squeeky rollers.
Contacted customer no-service in India (I just hate the idea of America doing that) cleaned the rollers, took off the back panel, cleaned the rollers, unplugged the USB and power cable, wait 30 sec., repeat, repeat, yada yada, still squeeks. Was offer refurb models or service option. All in all it would have cost me an additional $150 to get the product working like it should. I would avoid this model all together, infact I will be looking at other vendors. I will put up with the squeek thru Tax Season, since I just bought new cartridges, but when there gone so will the printer.

Bad installation CD/Poor support help
by jam3f ,Jan 23 '05
Pros: copy quality and speed, ease of use
Cons: Faulty installation CD, inept support person
I followed the installations instructions exactly on the CD but had to leave it running overnight (over 18 hours total) because installation was so SLOW. There were no error messages-things were just installing VERY slowly. I spent 2 hours on the phone with HP support(India). The support person was very polite, but finally said it must be something with my computer and he suggested I reinstall the operating system. I said "no thanks."
Next day I had my local computer person come to my house. In 10 minutes he figured out that the Hewlett Packard CD that was included with the printer was defective. He then downloaded the installation software from the HP website (a 45 minute download) and everything went perfectly.
The printer is great, pretty small size, copies text and graphics fast and well. Haven't tried photos yet, though.

HP 2355
by ms_mimi ,Jun 23 '06
Pros: good print quality, easy to download software, user friendly
Cons: cartridges are expensive, small and frequent replacement needed, no legal size, frequent paper jams
Good printer for minimal use but I will need to purchase another for larger jobs. Photos are excellent quality. I love HP products and have had good success with HP help line when needed.

Think Hard before buying
by red_zone ,Jan 27 '05
Pros: Memory card printing options. Pop up colour screen
Cons: Loud, not smallest ink dots for multipurpose at this price, doesn't play well with Mac
Machine is loud when scanning or copying. Louder than it needs to be. Also, I find the scans to be dark. I can adjust them but I think white should be white not pale yellow.
I find the scanning to be buggy in that it sometimes crops images in ways that I didn't ask for. I have had to scan images larger than needed just to be sure that I got all I wanted.
There are some neat features as far as printing from a memory stick. I did find that when I popped in a memory stick I had the HP software competing with iPhoto software as to who would get to access the data.
Haven't printed photos but what colour stuff I did print I didn't find the ink dots to be small enough. I think Epson does a better job.
EDIT:
After more time I like it less. Does not work well colour wise with the Mac platform. With two separate jobs and various file formats I could not get the correct colour of green to print. A dark green was printing bright green. Being a designer I need things to be at least close.

Software Problems
by mkflack ,Feb 27 '06
Pros: compact
Cons: software, outsourced to India, poor customer service, large program, patches and updates not compatible
I have gone through 4 sets of print ink cartridges, and tried downloading the software patch for the color ink cartridge error. Customer service sent me out a new printer and told me it was a hardware problem. After spending 3 hours on the phone with customer service and too many hours of sitting in front of my computer trying to fix the problem, I am now back on the market for a new printer/scanner/copier. Product Rating 0/10.

Great printer
by jen4103 ,Dec 31 '07
Pros: Unbeleivable photos.
Cons: Expensive print cartridges.
This printer does things I never imagined. It prints professional quality photos and has lasted me along time. I average about 400 pages per black printer cartridge and about 50 full page photo sheets per color cartridge. Every time I do a picture project I seem to need to buy a cartridge. Still alot cheaper than the alternative options though.

I simply can not express the high quality it prints photos. I could copy a professional photo and hold them side by side and you could not tell the differance.

The software that comes with it is wonderful too. I have taken old photos 20-50 years old and played with the settings to enhance them and make them look like new. No more yellow or faded pictures. It really is amazing.
