It’s a nice camera. Good camera... Camera get's a treat!

by kfj001 , Apr 17 '06
Pros: Cheap, LCD display, good pictures, decently easy to use.
Cons: Cheap design, vulnerable LCD screen, questionable battery life
I came from a day & age when a camera’s biggest distinction was between 35mm and 110mm film cartages, fixed focal lengths and “zoom” was you moving closer to your subject. Well, not all that is true, but even my digital cameras were pretty ...

Not a good choice, very poor battery life, red-eye in flash pictures

by cnymike , Apr 13 '05
Pros: Intuitive operation. Buttons laid out nicely. Convenient size.
Cons: Terrible battery life. Poor audio quality in movies.
The HP M307 digital camera looked very promising. It had a nice compact size, the controls were laid out very well and I liked the fact that it used standard AA batteries rather than a proprietary battery pack. My enthusiasm began to wane as soon as I ...

Very Bad Choice

by yaserk , May 04 '07
Pros: Good price at the time I bought it
Cons: Dark photos, fragile LCD, short battery life; waste of money.
I bought it 2 years ago for only 99 Euros. The LCD screen was suddenly broken from inside, it was replaced by HP. Then the battery life in the replaced one became very short; HP had to replace it again. Now the LCD is broken again in the third camera and ...

I used to recommend HP.....but I will not anymore

by jnca42 , May 03 '07
Pros: Cheap. It was free for me, as a gift. An affordable camera
Cons: Batteries go fast, your shots are gone before the camera actually takes the shot
I am so disappointed in this camera. The picture quality is good at best, if you don't miss your shot waiting on the camera to actually take the shot. I can press the button and easily two seconds go by before it actually does something. I have two ...

Great photos, but at a price.

by robinsian , Sep 08 '06
Pros: Quality images, good lens, nice feel to the camera.
Cons: Battery cost, camera/computer interface needs improving.
I have had my Photosmart camera for about two years now and I have been amazed by the quality of product from a reasonably priced camera. The zoom lens and flash is excellent and the software gives good quality images. However, there is a frustrating ...

save your money!
by ebonyruffles ,Dec 18 '06
Pros: Excellent price, ease of use, good picture quality.
Cons: Batteries!!!!
Camera worked great the first year then I started having battery issues. A firmware update was supposed to address the problem of the batteries not holding a charge but I was still only getting about 20 pictures before having to load a fresh set. Now just today I tried to upload about 40 pictures onto my computer. That took an hour, 3 sets of batteries & countless "unspecified error" messages. Then when I viewed the pictures, 3 of them were just colored horizontal lines with a faint image of the person in the background.Never had that happen before. Right now the camera is totally dead with the lens stuck halfway open. I can't fix it until the batteries are charged again.
I didn't like the ImageZone or Director software either. It was complicated & hard to understand.
I've given up on this camera & am going to buy a Kodak. Cameras are all they do. HP is known for their printers, fax machines & computers. They shouldn't have expanded into the camera market.

HP let me down!
by royhaines ,Jan 05 '05
Pros: Inexpensive, easy to use software
Cons: Poor pictures, Red Eyes, Battery Drain, Poor Display
I purchased an Olympus 1.3 Megapixel SLR camera about 3-4 years ago for about $1200. I have had some difficulty getting replacement memory cards for it so I decided to replace it. I didn't have much cash to work with so I didn't look at the high end models. I figured anything I buy today is way beyond 1.3MP so how could I go wrong. I also have had a really good experience with HP products so I chose the M307 for price and Brand reputation.
I first noticed that the camera was a little clumsy to use. There is also a real lag in the LCD display. When you push the button to take a picture there is a pause before it actually takes a picture. The pictures are not as good as the ones I get with my old camera. I noticed that in almost every picture everybody has red eyes. Battery drain is also horrible. I got 36 pictures on Christmas Eve and it took 2 sets of batteries to do it.

Not a bad camera for the price
by newusertoday ,Apr 28 '05
Pros: Ease of use, takes standard AA batteries
Cons: Short battery life, difficult to use instruction manual
To me, as a user of strictly 35mm cameras in the past, this one took a bit of getting used to. If you are prepared to take your time, learn to use the camera, and get past the shutter-lag, it can take great pics. The attraction of this camera was the price, since this is my 1st digital, and I bought it to "see what a digital camera can do". This one has many features offered on the more expensive cameras, at a fraction of the price. A great entry level digital camera.

Great Camera
by whitney2217 ,Apr 24 '05
Pros: Good battery life, internal memory, sound videos
Cons: sometimes poor pics in dark areas (only when far away)
I was looking for a cheap camera when my old one died on me. I found this camera and fell in love with it. It takes great pics! And the battery life is excellent, I still have the batteries that were in there when I purchased it over a month ago, and have taken probably over 100 pictures (I have a son who I love taking pictures of)

My boyfriend purchased it for me (as a mothers day gift) and now wants to buy one for himself.

Pros: Easy to use, priced right style is great.
Cons: none so far.
My wife brought this camera for me, I have never had a camera or computer before this year, Instructions are clear, camera is a breeze to use, features are great. I would recommend this camera to anyone because of the ease of using it, the style , and the price for what it will do is very, very reasonable.

very sensitive LCD
by customer05 ,Mar 19 '05
Pros: good price and nice facilities if camera works! But how long?
Cons: you have to consult meteo prognosis before take pictures
After two days of using this camera LCD was broken inside.
A kind of implosion ! Seems that this was happened because I have dared to take a very fast picture in time of snow falling
After more 10 seconds I was inside of my car,but too late for a HP 307 !
LCD was Looking like nice "broken glass design" and cannot see anything while camera is still working but just without display!.So instead to take with me in another country as i planned, I was forced to make appeal for a SERVICE at HP in Bucharest Romania.what i got was just bad behaviour and no solution (comany is called Q NET (Buchrest ,Romania).Even i have warranty They will like to pay 200usd for a new LCD but that was the price of CAMERA!

Even the price is good, quality of camera is bad! so dont buy!

where's the warning label?
by afathippo ,Mar 07 '05
Pros: great pictures and videos for the price. small size.
Cons: bundled software can cause networking problems, proprietary USB cable and AC adapter (not included)
this is something everyone that is planning to buy or use this camera should know. do NOT install the HP bundled software on a computer connected to any form of local area network. it changes many settings which will give you varying problems depending on what you do on your network. for someone who is not a professional computer technician or network support specialist, it may mean paying an on-site technician to fix the problems or reformatting the computer. the camera also comes with an uncommon USB cable to transfer the files from the camera to the computer, so dont lose it. i definitely recommend getting a card reader and just copying and pasting the images and videos onto your computer.

this still is a great camera and i am happy i bought it. the pictures are good enough quality for most people. this camera records the best videos for any camera in the price range. the audio is good, fairly low resolution, but the 30 frames per second and the video clip length only being limited by the memory card size makes up for it. the camera is also very portable and compact, even pocket sized.

SWEETHEART OF A CAMERA
by paul56 ,Sep 10 '04
Pros: small size, two AA batteries for power, HP software
Cons: none!
What is there not to like about this camera for the average person. It is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand and slips into a pocket easily. Operates on two AA batteries and not the "proprietary batteries" found in most cameras this small. 3.2 mp's is plenty for most folks and the pictures they will be taking. Also, it comes with the HP software that is superb! I was looking at the R707 but stumbled on this beauty at half the price of the R707.

This camera comes without any extras. You will need to purchase a SD memory card. A 256mb card will give you about 165 pictures at 3.2 mp's. You will also want to purchase a set of NIMH rechargable batteries and charger. I got these items at Costco on deal at about $42 for the memory card and $15 for a set of batteries and a quick charger.

I've Had Better... Much Better
by alsteeleknows ,Sep 28 '04
Pros: Size, Price
Cons: LCD lag, Battery Drain, Terrible digital zoom, Bad picture quality
OK, I bought this camera because I wanted to come down in size and get some more zoom (previously had a Sony dsc-p52). So naturally this was a great choice especially because of the price. Sometimes you get what you pay for. This thing is really terrible when it comes to digital cameras. The LCD screen has so much lag it's unbelievable. When ever you move the camera the screen freezes up for a second. It also drains batteries like you wouldn't believe. 10 minutes of picture taking and my batteries had already been depleted. The digital zoom also leaves something to be desired. At full twelve times zoom, the pictures are so blocky everything might as well have been made of legos. Most of all, the picture quality is quite poor. Pictures are always kind of hazy and blocky, Especially objects in the background. They look a lot like pictures that you get back from a bad roll of film. When it comes down to it, all that really matters is what the pictures look like. These babies look terrible.
