Pros: The camera is easy to use and understand. Cons: No battery charger included; Shutter-lag time is a little slow
The HP Photosmart M407 is a 4.1 mega-pixels digital camera with a 3x optical zoom lens and a 6x digital zoom for a total zoom of 18x. This is a good entry level point and shoot camera for any user. This is a small digital camera that can easily fit ...
Pros: Simplistic to use; Good price for the resolution capabilities Cons: Zoom image tough to steady; Placement of video and picture buttons backward
Digital cameras are becoming more and more popular, quickly replacing film- operated cameras as the picture- taking device of choice. I have used a few different digital cameras and the first one I ever purchased was a camera from Hewlett- Packard. ...
Pros: Easy to use, lightweight. Cons: May require a lot of light.
Technology is great. The things that computers and electronic equipment can do today are just amazing. I am not computer-phobic by any means and considering we had a "home" computer in the 1970's, I have been exposed to them for years. However, for ...
Pros: Easy to use, inexpensive, great photos, options galore Cons: No docking station,
It has finally happened! Yes, the price on quality digital cameras has finally fallen enough so that the masses find them to be attractive options. It took a long time, but you can now buy a high quality digital camera for less than $200.00. Hallelujah! ...
Pros: Sharp pictures, ease of use, Hewlett Packard support/software/website Cons: Poor shutter lag, mediocre battery life, poor video quality
My wife takes a lot of pictures with her Advantix camera and wanted to "go digital". So I bought her a camera for her birthday. There were great deals out there on HP PhotoSmart M407 bundles that included a photo printer so I bought her that model (I ...

I have actually had 2 of these cameras. Both of them lasted less than 3 months. The first one was returned and replaced under warranty. The second on is sitting in a junk drawer!
The first unit had a short in it that would drain the batteries in minutes and cause them to get burning hot! Luckily, there was no fire. The second just locked up and would not take any pics no matter what we tried.
When it did work, the pictures were average. Nothing bad and nothing great. The lag time was very irritating! Nothing like trying to snap a pic and telling them to hold it for seconds on end while the camera finally made up its mind to take it!
Pros: This is a great camera that won't break the bank and produces quality pictures. Cons: The digital zoom lessens the quality and reduces the mega pixles.
I have been very pleased with this camera. I bought this camera both for business as well as for pleasure. I use it on a regular basis. I have been nothing but pleased with the results. The quality is very good.
The only thing that I tend not to use is the digital zoom as the pictures begin to loose clarity (it reduces the mega pixles).
However, the optical zoom I find to be great for everyday use.
Pros: Great pics, great software, easy to use. Cons: Eats batteries, Loooooong lag time.
Easy to use. I love the software! Produces really great pics providing everyone stay put for a lengthy amount of time while it finishes lagging. Holy Moly what a lag. Oh and the batteries! Wow! I go through batteries like there is no tomorrow. I highly recommend rechargables!

Pros: great pictures Cons: batteries and lag time
This camera produces great pictures, but there is a few very annoying problems. First, you will need to use rechargeable batteries, because regular AA won't work. Also, batteries don't last long. The biggest problem is that there is a lag time between pushing the button and taking the picture. You can't take the picture you want because of the lag time.
Skip this one, there are better out there by easleyna ,Oct 09 '06
Pros: Once you buy memory cards they can take a lot of 4 MP pics. Cons: Frustrating to use, blurry pics, dark pics, frequent need for service.
I have been really disappointed with the 4 M407 cameras we bought for work. People really struggle with them. They take blurry pictures unless you are ridiculously careful when shooting. They require setting adjustments to take indoor pictures. I could go on and on. Oh yeah, they needed a firmware update immediately, fresh out of the box!
Not worth it. There are much better cameras for the price. by pkwan88 ,Jun 26 '05
Pros: Price Cons: Image quality way below average. Battery life was terrible.
The body was large for a 4MP camera and it felt cheap and very plasticy with a hollow feel to it. The buttons were easy to understand and operate with a good menuing system that doesn't require a manual to fully operate. Assuming you've had some experience with digital cameras before.
Compared to the Nikon 5700, Canon SD400 and Olympus D-545, this camera's images were grainey, less sharp, less detail, and seemed foggy at times. The indoor flash pictures were very poor and appeared washed out when compared to the other cameras. The Olympus D-545 is almost the same price with superior image and battery life.
Pros: Easy to use, inexpensive for 4mp camera. Built in card readers. Cons: Poor quality of photos, dark, grainy, poor red-eye reduction
Bought this packaged w/ 4x6 photo printer model#240 for wife. Was looking for something easy to use, 4mp resolution.
Photos taken w/ flash were dark, dull color, and grainy on 4mp setting. Photos taken at same time on older 2mp camera were excellent. Downloaded photos to computer to print on 4x6 printer(from each camera) were significantly different. Originally thought printer was crappy. Turns out it was the camera. Must return complete package to Staples.
Wish I would have never bought it by albertly ,Feb 11 '08
Pros: It take a pretty nice picture Cons: Batteries!! It eats them. 2 new batteries = 1 picture
It can eat a battery in minutes, bought rechargeable and I get 1 pic per 2 batteries. It is just awful. My first and I guess last digital camera, just can't get over it being so bad and expensive to operate. $149, down the drain. Plus all those batteries. There is a online down load that they said would help but it didn't help with battery life. In fact I intend to never buy anything HP makes in the future.
Not Happy With Camera As Well by sgthomas1970 ,Apr 03 '05
Pros: Small, 4.1 MP, large LCD screen Cons: quality issues, slow shutter speed, and flash is useless
Bought camera and docking station for wife for Christmas. Worked well first couple of weeks (after the time I could return it to Circuit City). Camera started showing internal problems, shutting down for no reason, you take 8 pictures and only 5 download, multiple error readings on LCD screen. Luckily the 12 month warranty is still good.
Other weak areas, flash- pictures too dark unless you are up close, shutter too slow. I have an old 3.2 Sharp camera, this works better than the HP by far.
