Pros: Great Picture!
Auto Focus Feature.
Picture Outside of Picture Cons: Stretch-Mode on regular TV
Weak Cable Signal gives poor picture.
First of all, let me just say that with a Progressive Scan DVD player in Widescreen mode, THIS TV ROCKS! The colors are vibrant, the picture is sharp and clear. The number of inputs are great (2 antenna/cable, 5 video (1 DVI/Component, 1 Component, 3...

Pros: The awesome color even on non- hdtv channels+ the sound Cons: non-yet
We bought this 3 weeks ago, I did the home work, (mostly using Epinions.com and people who had one. The cable people said it was a good choicetoo. We narrowed it down to Hitachi- Sony-Pioneer. the salesman @ Pioneer was condiscending, and the remote was...

Pros: Great Picture Quality, price Cons: video 1 and 2 only allow component.
Got the TV from SEARS, no worries. The TV is absolutely amazing. I read reviews before my purchase, and people said the SWX series was worth the extra money. I disagree. I am not a pro, but I am extreamly picky. I went and had Conn's sit the two...

Awesome Television
by patunoff ,Feb 02 '04
Pros: Picture Quality, Split-Screen PIP, Plenty of inputs, Low-Glare, Great Viewing Angle Cons: Only 1 input for HD Component Cables
I picked up this television from Circuit City just in time for the Superbowl. It was a floor model, so I got a pretty good deal on it. The picture on the Hitachi's were awesome, so I was psyched to get 57" for the price of a crappy RCA 52"... Anyway I got this beast home and fired it up. The Comcast guy came out and hooked up the HDTV box, with pretty good componet cables, and we were good to go. Comcast has about 15 HDTV channels, including the network channels that broadcast their primetime in High Def. The HD channels are amazing, especially on the 57" screen. We only went with a S-video on the DVD player, since the TV only seems to have 1 available input for Componet Cables... (a rare downside). Even with the S-video cable, the DVD picture is awesome. You owe it to yourself to get a TV like this, and if you're shelling out something in the 1500 range for big projection TV, don't skimp on the quality. You need to get the best brand with the best picture or you won't be totally satisfied.

AWESOME TV!
by recppd ,Mar 16 '04
Pros: DVI, Component Video, S-Video, Composite Video inputs and AWESOME PICTURE!!! Cons: No complaints so far...
I have owned this TV for almost 2 years now and have NEVER had a problem. Almost all of my experience has been with DirecTV and my Toshiba progressive scan DVD player, since I quickly disconnected cable after a crappy picture.
I know this model is no longer available, but I had to add my $.02 since I added HDTV today, via DirecTV. The picture is absolutely phenomenal!!! A buddy of mine has one of the new Sony LCD projection TV's and his picture can't even come close in comparison! I am VERY happy with the set's ability to produce an awesome HDTV picture.
Currently, I have a Hughes HD-HTL HD receiver connected via the supplied DVI cable. A Monster Cable DVI-400 cable will be arriving in two days, and should add some additional clarity. I jumped on a $399 receiver/satellite dish/installation deal that DirecTV is offering, and couldn't be happier with the outcome! Once again, the picture is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!
Like I said, I know these sets are no longer available, but the Hitachi's always had the best picture in comparison to other HDTV's when I was looking.

BAD experience w/Hitachi
by bunnylee ,Oct 23 '03
Pros: Nice when it was in our home and working! Cons: Unreliable TV, to spend $2300.00 and have it work less than 1 year.
Loved this TV!! 11 months old- it went out and has been in the shop for 60 days so far. Hitachi customer service are horrible as far as any assistance in getting our TV back. One part can take up to 14 days to be shipped from factory. Our set needed 3 different parts, which were ordered and shipped one at a time. For good customer service relations, the factory should overnight the parts to the shop. We've had 2 calls in 60 days from the shop in Ft. Worth; both times the only information they told us was that they were waiting for parts. They should be able to give us an estimated return day, but they never have. We have always owned RCA's and have never had any problems with shops or the Manufacturer. We will never buy another Hitachi! Whether a consumer spends $50.00 or $2,300.00, we deserve better quality and certainly better response from the Manufacturer.

Great Television
by jefftrumble ,Sep 01 '04
Pros: Awesome Picture Cons: None
I've owned this HDTV for about 2 years and had nothing but pure viewing pleasure. The picture quality of this set was better than any other projection HDTV in the store hands down. Even sets that where a $1000 more. Viewing Dvd's using progressive scan are amazing. Very crisp and clear! Much better than the theater. Also, you have the option of 2 digital formats. 540 Progressive or 1080 interlaced. I can't tell the difference between the two. They both look awesome. Another good thing is the number of aspect ratios you have to choose from. The Magic focus feature is handy for quick digital convergence. So, no manual adjusting, although you do have the option if you want. The sound quality is not bad at all. Plenty sufficient for most anybody I would think. Of course, I use my home theater speakers so it doesn't matter anyway. All in all I have to say this is a great TV. No problems so far. Wow, what a great picture!
