Pergo Floors VS Hoover Stick....a perfect match!

by briandalsmom Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 100, Sep 03 '04
Pros: Under 10 pounds means I can carry it with one hand. Stairs are a breeze!
Cons: Short cord
DID WE NEED ANOTHER VACUUM? Not really, but the purple monster (here’s the review ht tp://www.epinions.com/content_ 90188123780) we own was great when we had wall to wall carpet but now that we’ve removed ...

Hmmmm. Sort of sucks I guess.

by coryandlaurel , Oct 04 '04
Pros: Compact stylish stick shape, bagless, quick release cord holder, hanging hole in handle
Cons: Poor suction, noisy, floor brush keeps popping, dirty to empty bagless system, cord too short
WHY DID WE PURCHASE THIS? We have 2 toddlers and a 200 sq ft tile kitchen floor that seems to be perpetually dirty as a result. Food crumbs and wet sticky spills. POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS? 1. Sweep with dustpan and mop - doesn't get ...

Just what I need for my new house!

by isthatsew101 , Dec 16 '05
Pros: Everything, I just love it, and it's FUN to use!
Cons: ?No hose on top, no attachments. $50 is a bit steep, but worth it.
I just moved into a new house with lots of hardwood and carpet. We have a very large, very messy parrot, and vacuuming daily is a fact of life. This is light enough to keep in the coat closet, and I can take it out and zoom it around the floor in a ...

Don't be cheap. Buy a better vacuum

by melzieroo , Feb 20 '09
Pros: Small, lightweight, inexpensive, long enough cord.
Cons: Overheats! Poor suction, doesn't last long.
My initial response to this vacuum cleaner was, “Big noise out of that little machine,” to which my husband curtly replied, “Shut up. It was on sale.” Fair enough. I got over the noise. The thing cost $30 so I didn't expect ...

flair - LESS

by lxw179 , Oct 26 '08
Pros: Quick release cord, Dust cup easy to empty.
Cons: Noisy, Poor suction, Won't stand up, Gets very hot!
I would not recommend this Hoover Flair to anybody who needs a stick vac that works on all floor types. This model only works on "hard" flooring and not on carpets, and even then only picks up things like hair and light sand-type dirt on the ...

Works until it doesn't...

by grnthumber , May 27 '08
Pros: Light, easy to maneuver, pleasing style
Cons: Gets hot and stops running, doesn't always stand upright
I'm pretty picky when it comes to vacuums. It has to be light and maneuverable, with decent suction and an easy to empty cup, and of course, it actually has to run! The Flair almost meets all my criteria...almost. I've owned 2 Flairs so far, and I ...

Fun but fragile

by jellosheriff , Sep 23 '06
Pros: maneuverable, good suction, 2-stage switch for floors/rugs, attractive
Cons: Fragile, top-heavy, short cord, messy dust cup
When I first got this vac, I loved it. It is very maneuverable and does a good job on bare floors and rugs. It is a little top heavy, so it's easy to drop or knock over, but it is very easy to use. The cons: The dust cup needs to be emptied ...

Just What I'd Been Searching for..

by katyc1980 , Feb 23 '08
Pros: Powerful suction, large dirt cup, gets all the way to the edge/up against baseboards
Cons: Can tip easily if not left in correct upright position
After struggling to keep our hardwoods and tile clean in our new house, I gave up sweeping and started searching for a great broom vac. Sweeping and then using a dustbuster on the dirt piles seemed to just push the dirt and hair around. I'd turn around ...

This Hoover has a "Flair" for cleaning

by mjdart , Aug 18 '06
Pros: Stylish, maneuverable , functional, larger rear rollers
Cons: Those with weaker wrists may find operation uncomfortable after extended use.
My trusted Hoover "Quik Broom" experienced a plastic malfunction which allowed the head continuously to fall off. I suspect it may have been dropped causing the premature faulure - whatever it needed replacing quickly. I went to the local Brandsmart ...

Suction Isn't Everything

by sootycat , Nov 11 '05
Pros: Sleek and pretty, does have good suction and edge cleaner.
Cons: Poor design for cord storage, terrible balance. On/off switch poor.
I bought this vac to replace a 15 year old Hoover Stic Vac, which I just loved. It had a motorized head, great suction, and was easy to whip out of the closet for quick cleanups. Reading all the reviews about the Flair, I figured it would be the best ...

I love this vacuum

by sherioflo , Jun 26 '07
Pros: Great suction Can vacuum under furniture because of pivoting system Lightweight Quiet
Cons: None!
I have never been excited about a vacuum until now. (Well, that's if you don't count the time my husband sucked the curtains right off their rings, then had to extract the mutilated fabric from the bottom of the vacuum--but that's another story.) I love ...

Vacuum Expert
by mikekathy ,Dec 07 '06
Pros: It's Red, that's a nice quality
Cons: Cord too short, top heavy, filter too little!!!
I have probably had every type of vacuum known to man! I have also returned more vacuums than most people have ever purchased. I thought i did my homework on this one but I was fooled by the positive reviews. It's awful!! The cord is too short..its power is good but what good is power when you can only vacuum for 3 minutes!!! The container gets all bogged down and to clean it you have to inhale all that dust!!! YUK!! I can't even return it because Amazon.com will charge postage both ways. What a rip off!!!

I love it but...
by str84wird ,Apr 19 '09
Pros: I love the weight. It moves and swivels and fits under things! Good power!
Cons: Power nozzle breaks after warranty expires. It squeals loud enough to hurt. Doesn't work anymore.
I've been working with my 3rd one!..and now it squeals too! For some reason, when they get to be about a year and a month old, they have a part in the power nozzle that starts squealing! We can't figure out why that it is!
I keep buying another one because it's the handiest thing on earth for a home with 5 cats. I can grab it and do a quick touch-up job every other day and use my Miele cannister once a week for a real deep cleaning.

I wish I could be a certified vacuum cleaner tester, because I give them a great workout and just can't find a decent one.
Obviously, new models are invented by people who don't use them in a practical way!!!

This Flair would be perfect if it lived a little longer without the ear-piercing squeal developing right after the warranty expires! Once it starts squealing, the power nozzle doesn't work right and the vacuum doesn't pick up anything on very low nap carpets.

Maneuverable but poor beater bar reliability
by docrings ,Nov 28 '05
Pros: lightweight, maneuverable, clear dirt cup, easy dumping cup.
Cons: low reliability, poor build quality of beater bar bearing...heat and melting are expected.
I am on epinions now because my search for "Hoover flair bagless parts" came up with this epinion page... My wife and I loved the little cute Flair for the two months it worked. It maneuvered beautifully, kind of like "flying" it around the floor with banking maneuvers to turn... kind of fun!
Then the beater bar stopped. Darn it!

I removed the lower end housing, and found out the beater bar just melted into itself from friction spinning around. Upon closer inspection the beater bar is plastic, spinning at high RPM inside a plastic cup with almost no bearing surface at all! The high temps eventually begin to heat the plastic surfaces and the beater bar will fuse solid... no more spinning; and the rubber belt strips out on the drive motor! Back to Wal-Mart.

I *wanted* to love this vacuum, but alas, poor engineering and cheap parts drove this relationship to an early end...

Be warned, it could be made more reliably for only a few pennies more, but it's not, and you, the consumer will pay.

Just my e-pinion,

Dr. Rings, MD

does not run very long
by bobmathews46 ,Feb 01 '07
Pros: Easy to manuver.
Cons: Can't clean large area without overheating
The vacuum is handy and light . The swivel head gets around and under things easily. This unit has the power brush in the head which can be switched on and off for carpet or bare floor. It is powerful enough for light cleaning. I got it mostly for bare floors and pet hair.

The bit problem is the clean has a sticker on it which says "the motor will turn off if overheating occurs. Allow 30 minutes to cool"!! This is how the thing works, after about 10 minutes of continuous operation it does shut down. It gets really hot at the air vents and won't restart for 20-30 minutes. The best way to use it is to clean for a few minutes and then shut it off for a minute, then clean some more.

Dust filter requires frequent washing, otherwise it overheats quicker.
