Pros: Slim design, 5 year limited warranty, night light feature, fan speed control, low maintenance. Cons: Makes some noise, depends on fan speed and how close you're sitting next to it.
I purchased this Care Free Humidifier Plus Evaporative Humidifier by Hunter because I was tired of purchasing two to three filters every winter for our Kaz Humidifier. At around $4 a filter, every year it was getting more and more expensive to own it. ...
Pros: Light weight, easily use any water faucet, cleans in dishwasher. Cons: Doesn't feel any more humid in the air, a bit pricey compared to others.
Perhaps the fact it's 'made in China' should have been a clue, but after a week of use, I am not only disappointed, but I'm willing to stand in lines built up since Christmas to return it! Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against China, ...
Pros: no filters to buy, night light is nice when it works. Cons: hard to clean, things seem to break on it.
I have had this humidifier over a year so I can attest to its durability. The first humidifier lasted about 4 months then died. Hunter gives a 5 year warranty on the product, and it must be costing them a lot, especially on this unit. The big ...
Pros: Do not have to replace the filters Cons: Noisy, leaks, high maintenance
I purchased two of these units a year ago for the "low maintenance" feature and the PermaWick filters. From day one I have had nothing but problems with these units. I had to exchange one after the first night, because it made a horrible vibrating ...
Pros: Never have to replace the filter.
Antibactierial plastic used Cons: LOUD
Doesn't humidify
Spills water
I bought this humidifier because of the PermaWick feature - the idea of buying 2 or 3 filters each season does not appeal to me. The procedure for setting up the humidifier once I got it home was needlessly complex. There is an assembly of the ...
Pros: 1. Easy to clean
2. Cool blue night light
3. PermaWick permanent filter system Cons: 1. noise, Noise, NOISE
2. Cannot set the desired humidity
Hello kind readers. My wife and I were in search of a humidifier and saw this model at one of the "Big Box" retail stores. We carefully compared the features of the Hunter 33202 against those of Vicks and comparable models. Some of the features that ...
Pros: pretty blue night light Cons: it does not work and it's loud
Ok, so I bought this humidifier before checking any reviews or asking any questions (I have learned my lesson). I am now sorry, very sorry for that. I bought this humidifier to humidify my basement (how about that, a basement that needs humidification!) ...
Pros: None really Cons: Noisy, doesn't work for very long
I bought this humidifier as a Christmas present for my husband. Our apartment is very dry and really needs the assistance. I bought this particular model because of the "carefree" element. It was carefree, because it doesn't work long enough to require care! We ran the first one as instructed in the manual, by the end of the night it had died. I returned that one to the store and exchanged it for a new, assuming we had gotten a lemon. The second one worked for a little while, but was quite noisy. Then it began to leak (ruining our hard wood floor!). Since we had been using it for a few months, I do not feel comfortable returning it to the store. I would suggest trying another model. We are still looking for a new one!
I'll give it time to prove itself. by dustenw ,Dec 09 '03
Pros: Looks good. Isn't unsightly like most. Easy maintenance. Cons: Noisier than expected, Made a scratchy noise when starting up one time (hasn't since).
Overall it's great because it's care-free. And though this is my first humidifier, I expected it to be a lot quieter. Mind you it is at my bedside.
This scratchy noise I speak of happened after having it for about a month or so. I refilled the tank and turned it on. the thing sounded like a car that had overheated. If it happens again i'll be calling Hunter directly. But until then i'm happy with the machine.
Also, I should mention that I have quite a large room that I'm trying to humidify, so I might not be getting as much efficiency out of it as I might in a regular sized bedroom.
Noisy Fan Plus Loud Vibration by markd301 ,Jan 04 '04
Pros: Doesn't require costly filer replacement, easy to fill. Cons: Way too much noise.
I just got this humidifier yesterday and used it in my bedroom for the first night. I was able to sleep over the sound of the fan, but then at 6:00 AM I was awakened by a strange sound. At first I thought that the neighbors were playing the stereo. Then, I thought that someone was warming up a Harley in the parking lot. It turned out to be the humidifier. It was making a very loud vibration noise, which was even worse in the room below. I put it on a milk crate to get it off the carpet and put some padding underneath it. That helped, but it still made too much noise. I took it back to Sears a few days later for a full refund.
I wish I had looked on epinions before buying it. The only reason I picked this one was that it didn't have a filter. They were charging $15 for most of the replacement filters at Sears. I wasn't expecting any problems, but have learned my lesson.
I now have a Bionaire CP2550 from Bed Bath and Beyond (for $10 cheaper) and I am very happy with it.
Carefree? - Try High Maintenance! by erk39 ,Dec 20 '03
Pros: It didn't explode when I plugged it in! Cons: High cost, high maintenance, false advertising, bad customer service.
I bought this model because of the "care-free" claims on the package. I was willing to pay the extra cost (twice the cost of other humidifiers I looked at) because it was a brand I trust and because of the low maintenance claims.
Boy, was I disappointed! Within one day of operation the inside was yellow with some sort of growth in it- I've had to scrub it out every day since I've owned it. Plus the awkward design actually makes it harder to clean than the really cheap models!
Also, I don't think the 1175 sq ft rating is realistic at all. My whole condo is only 1100 sq ft and this doesn't even do a good job in the largest room (it is okay for a medium size bedroom, though).
Also the unit has a very harsh noise to it while operating.
Add to that poor customer service, and you have one truly disappointing purchase.
Leaky Unit, Great Customer Service! by nycnik ,Jan 10 '05
Pros: The best customer service I have ever dealt with! Cons: Leaky humidifier.
Our #33202 humidifier that we received as a gift last year leaked, so I called the company and they sent me a new one, no questions asked, which was great, but that one leaked too. So I just called the company to let them know, and they are sending me the #33257, which is a huge upgrade! How's that for customer service? They were so accommodating and nice, too. This is how customer service should be.
Pros: Not bad price Cons: Leaks everywhere, Noisy!
Ok I really wish I would have read the reviews here first because I never would have bought this humidifier. Any problem that is mentioned here I've had. It's very noisy, I've heard the squeaking noise of the motor a few times which makes it even noisier. And the topper it leaked water all over our floor! It's going back to the store as soon as I find the receipt, and Hunter products are off my list.
Just like Hunter fans: CHEAP, POOR DESIGN AND LOUD!!! by clemmo ,Dec 23 '04
Pros: cheap Cons: cheap, loud, poor design.
This thing is so loud, we moved it out of our room after one week. Why do these companies keep designing humidifiers that require me to carry an oddly shaped hopper to the bathtub once a day to fill, instead of having an open top where I can simply pour water into it from an easy to carry pitcher, or even easyer, fill it directly from the sink hose?
But, it's got a built in night light! This would come in handy for the hearing impared. It's not bright enough for kids. And if it's turned on, you will not forget that it's there.
Buy something else.
