JVC HR-J82MS VHS VCR

Pros: Good quality, good price. Autosensing voltage.
Cons: Rather large compared to the US VCR's. Extra shipping due to oversized box.

I bought this on ebay for $115 plus shipping. My main purpose was to watch PAL tapes from Australia. You cannot watch PAL tapes with this VCR; you have to 1) have a PAL or Multisystem TV or 2) have a video converter. I bought a Shinybow SB-3960 video converter also on ebay ($149 + shipping). The quality isn't great but you get what you pay for. It's enough to let my kids watch Aussie "The Wiggles" tapes that we bought on our NTSC TV.
The VCR also came with a karaoke mic. Good, cheap, HiFi PAL vcr. Don't have any SECAM tapes to test. Came with plug adapter for U.S. and has autosensing voltage so you don't have to get an electrical adaptor.
