Pros: Great sound
AUX in
MP3 playback
CD changer control
not too flashy Cons: No midrange adjustment
Volume control too small & in wrong spot
I bought the KD-SX990 from Crutchfield in 2001 to install in a brand-new Jetta. The factory Monsoon sound system did sound great, but it didn't have AUX in nor did it play MP3 CDs. The 990 had the features I wanted at a very reasonable price, and it ...
Pros: remote, MP3 cd compatible, store up to 18 FM stations, removable face plate Cons: no animations, hard to manually tune stations, have to seek
I recieved this deck as a birthday present along with some polk audio DB series speakers already installed by great people at Circut City. so i can't really tell you about installing the deck, ive never seen the back of it. This deck features MP3 disc ...

I had this unit installed over the weekend in my Saturn SL. I wanted to be able to play MP3's in my new car which came with pretty good factory CD player. My portable wouldn't work without an FM tranmitter, Ive tried those before and they don't work very ...

I reads lots of reviews before installing the JVC KD-SX990 mp3 player. This player is Great! I burned some 15 albums into 1 CD. Put the CD in - The player took just seconds to read all the folders and up came the number of songs and was ready to play!...
great stereo, never skips, lots of nifty features by medfly ,Dec 03 '03
Pros: lots of great features. Never skips. Easy to navigate songs. Aux jack on the front. Cons: no way to pause mp3's, scroll speed is a bit too slow.
When my old stereo blew out (crappy aiwa), i listed my requirements for a new deck.
plays mp3 on cd format.
displays song title (aka id3 tag) during mp3 playback
easy to navigate a disk with 200 songs on it.
has an aux jack
skip very little or not at all.
no funky motorized display
(i've found that these tend to break WAY too easily)
the jvc does all of this, plus has a ton of cool features that should keep almost anyone happy. I havent run into any mp3's this thing wont play (mind you that i encode myself almost all the mp3's i have). And it never ever skips. Granted i have a fairly smooth riding car (1994 camry), but even during cross country trips of 1000+ miles, this thing has never skipped even once.
I only have two gripes, both minor, regarding the jvc. First there's no way to pause it outright during playback. Second, the song title display scrolls rather slowly and is not adjustable speed wise.
