Pros: Great sound, Fantastic features and inputs, quality. Great deal now that it's older Cons: no video conversion, bulky
I bought this unit a couple of years back to replace an older JVC Unit that wasn't loud enough anymore (the place I was living changed, not the receiver, and the watts were too low.) I really have had a good time with this receiver. Plenty of digital ...

Pros: Excellent features and value. Cons: Remote control weak at best.
I've had my receiver for several months and I’m very happy. I ended up with a new projection TV, DVD Player, Satellite System and receiver all at once so the break-in for all this equipment was a little overwhelming. I honestly struggled a bit with the ...

Pros: Excellent sound Cons: Minor annoyances with the display, front panel and remote control. Poor customer support.
I've had this JVC unit for almost two months now, and am very happy with it. I have gotten used to its little quirks, and the sound is great and features are very good. Particularly is the speaker setup wizard. Makes setting up surround sound very easy ...

WOW!
by bfrook ,Apr 27 '04
Pros: Many, many inputs. Turntable support, full featured remote, and lots of options for each speaker. Cons: Quirky video input support. Primary ventilation is on top of unit.
I just installed this device to replace an older 5.1 receiver I had previously. It is quite a piece of hardware. All the bells and whistles are there along with a detailed manual to help you along the way. This device has everything I was looking for. 7.1 support, DTS & Dolby Digital EX/ES. There were a few bumps along the way while I was hooking everything up. For instance, If you use a combination of SVIDEO and Component Video inputs you must use both monitor outputs to get a picture. The unit will not convert the SVIDEO signals and send them down the Composite Video output to the TV. The remote control has more buttons than a Lear jet but is intuitive due to the LCD display at the top telling you what mode you are in. Most of the buttons have multiple values. The sound is clean and clear and the DTS output with "CC" compression compensation is superb. I recommend this unit to anyone thinking about an upgrade that doesn't want to drop a mint on a device.

JVC may mean quality but subpar planning

Pros: Great sound. Lots of hook ups in back. Attractive case. Cons: Hard instructions. Poor design on remote, nothing is intuitive : really makes no sense.
I've had this unit for a year and have no problems with performance. With 4 infinity speakers and a subwoofer it sounds great. The setup is fairly easy and running a DVD wired up to it sounds and looks great. Not a bad deal for the price.
I knew about the comments of a weak remote and unimaginable instructions. For the price though, the sound is great. FM radio reception is good and sounds good also. Get another remote. I think they are built by the town drunk in a small Japanese village that is blind in one eye and can't see out of the other.
