Pros: Smooth, aromatic, and comforting Cons: Expensive
My tastes in spirits are demanding. Im only an occasional drinker, but when I do imbibe, I like spirits that are characterized by distinctive taste and by their contribution to an overall mood of relaxation. Jameson falls well within these ...
Pros: Pleasant, great balance of sweet and bitter, sherry notes Cons: Cost twice as much as the original, but twice as pleasant
Jamesons 12 Year (known as Jameson 1780) is better than its Jameson Irish Whiskey brother, but is it worth the money? You can get a bottle of Jameson regular for about 1/2 the price. I do not own a ...
Pros: Smooth like liquid caramel Cons: smooth like liquid caramel
This is, without a doubt, one of the smoothest, easiest to drink whiskies I have ever tasted. I was always a big fan of Jameson, and when my liqour store started stocking the 1780 I knew I had to try it. The whisky is warm and silky, with heavy (very,...
Ok, we are talking about the crem de la crem here. Irish whiskey is one of my favorite beverages, and Jameson stands above them all, at least in terms of mass produced spirits. It is a full flavored whiskey with all the benefits of Jameson's original...
I love this whisky! I know that it isn't very proper for a girl to like whisky, but I can't help it I love this stuff. I first tried this brand a few months ago and have not been able to try another since. It is very smooth and easy to drink. To me...
Pros: Well, it's just stunning. Cons: Can't think of any really, except the bottle is a bit stuffy looking.
Jameson 1780 has been redesigned and given a new bottle and label. Jameson claims the whiskey hasn't been changed, but it seems that this is not the general feeling on the ground.
So now there are two versions - the 12 yr old and the 1780 (both 12 yr olds). This doesn't have the sherry of the standard Jameson and seems to have plenty more pot still, and a pretty heavy pot still at that, I'd say. The quality of the casks is evident in the taste.
All in all, an absolute beauty. Deliciously warming with chocolate and coffee notes - and great value too.
This is what Irish Whiskey is about! by irishgeezer ,Feb 04 '05
Pros: No words to describe - this is great Irish Whiskey Cons: My local store seldom has it!
When I was young (and poor) I did not care for Irish Whiskey or scotch. As I matured (and, thank God) my bank account grew, I developed a more refined taste. Jameson 1780 is what Irish Whiskey is all about - If I can only afford half as much, that is OK - it is more than twice as good!
Pros: fancy bottle Cons: more than you can imagine
I have tasted better blended scotch that had probably been in the cask for less than 2 years that was better than this hyped-up gimmick passing for Irish Whiskey. I mean, even the regular Jameson tastes better. I don't know what it is exactly that makes me not want to ever down a shot of this stuff, but the list is legion.
I guess perhaps, I am not a true whiskey lover afterall. I have not had the taste for the stuff for quite some time now. However, after seeing a bottle on the shelf in a place I vacationed to, I decided to test the reviews of this product. I was sadly dissapointed. Afterall I wasted my money on something that will most like eventually end up in the sewers. Oh well, at least I have Jagermeister!
