Pros: Easy easy easy!!! High quality drinks without much work! Cons: More expensive than my dishwasher, but pays for itself if you are a coffee drinker
Jura / Capresso Impressa E8 Espresso Machine & Coffee Maker Pays for itself quickly…………….: If you are a coffee drinker and tired of paying $3-6 for your favorite drink everyday, then this is the solution you have been ...
Pros: Good espresso; very convenient push button operation; user friendly. Cons: Frother; plastic body; value of the money; weak non-espresso drinks.
I purchased the e8 a couple of months ago from Williams-Sonoma. The intention was to be able to reproduce the drinks we can get in our favorite cafes especially now that we've moved away from the city. When we first got it home and tried it we ...
Pros: Great coffee! Cons: Price. Max coffee cup size is limited to 8oz
I've been very pleased with this coffee machine. For me, coffee is something that is enjoyed deeply on a daily basis. After struggling with justifying the cost, I asked myself, Why not pay the extra money to get a machine that will make something you ...
Pros: Versatile brewing selection, from brew strength to cup size Cons: Mildly warm coffee, but not hot
I bought this wonderful machine after our fabulous grind and brew Krups could not be fixed anymore due to the fact that they no longer supply the parts. The Jura was very quiet but the coffee was drinkable from the very first sip. If you were planning ...
Pros: Stainless steel boiler, self-cleans, great tasting coffee Cons: frother is difficult to master, black plastic only choice
We moved to Jura from Saeco after our Saeco Vienna Deluxe quit for the 2nd time in 3 1/2 years. What convinced me to move to Jura was the fact that it has a stainless boiler (vs stainless steel lined aluminum) and that Jura's customer service stories were encouraging -i.e. quick turnaournd vs several weeks or more for Saeco.
I agree with the other reviews that making a good creamy foam was easier with the Saeco and have yet to produce a similar result with the Jura, also the nozzle is a bit cumbersome to use when frothing milk.
The quality of the coffee has been great and I enjoy the fact that is self cleans and has a bypass doser. All in all, worth the money.
Pros: Nice product when it is working correctly Cons: Terrible and rude after sale service
I called Capresso Customer Service. I needed to buy a $0.50 "O" ring. They refused to discuss supplying a part and insisted that I send the machine in for repair. When I asked to speak with the Customer Service Manager, they hung up on me.
My suggestion is to buy products from reputable vendors who value their customers, and ones who do not try to gouge customers who have spent hundreds of dollars on their products.

Pros: Fast and EXTREMELY simple to use with excellent results. Cons: Price
I've been using the Jura E8 for about a year. It is a replacement for an earlier Jura super-automatic that needed repair after 5 years of daily use. Jura/Capresso customer service offered to repair the old one or replace it with this one at a discounted price. I chose to go ahead with the E8.
I generally drink simple espresso. I have done some fancy coffee drinks, but those really aren't my thing.
Now that I have the E8 dialed in to my preferences, nothing could be more simple. I have a great cup of espresso available at the touch of a button.
This is a huge improvement over making a pot of coffee. Each cup is literally fresh made.
I admit that an espresso maker like this is an expensive luxury, but I get top notch espresso at pennies per serving.
I always keep the hopper loaded with regular coffee, but my wife likes to use the bypass chute to load ground decaf. This is one product that I'm really delighted with.
Pros: Convenient. Cons: Bad coffee is the price of convenience.
Bottom line: weak coffee. A watery brew with no character.
The Capresso was my only experience with a fully automatic machine and it performed as I'd feared. It's essentially a black-box that offers very little control, and none at all that will produce superior coffee.
All semi-autos have self-pressurizing brew stages. There is no tamping of the grounds which greatly simplifies the process, but produces watery java.
If you're goal is flavor in a cup of coffee or espresso then look elsewhere. A french press will give you much better coffee for cheap, and if you're set on a classic espresso, go for a semi-automatic machine and a burr grinder. What it costs in hassle (and a semi requires practice in both the art and science of pulling a shot) it will give back in control and in the quality of the brew.
Pros: Extremely reliable and easy to clean and operate. Cons: Would like it to hold more water, and more coffee.
This machine makes every morning wonderful! The previous model had a few flaws, but this one is easy to clean and the usability is extremely high. Buy good beans which aren't too oily for best results.
Pros: Good cappuccinos at home for you and your guests Cons: Somewhat labor-intensive. Frother an accident waiting to happen.
We purchased this machine so we wouldn't have to go out every day and spend $$ per cup in the store. It is not as easy as having someone else make the drink, as the process is somewhat labor-intensive, but I don't have to leave the house, either. Plus, when people come over its a treat with dessert! I found the frother especially difficult to master - I find that leaving it in the 'down' position works well enough for me. I almost burned myself several times trying to change the mechinism according to the directions.
However, that said, we are quite happy with the machine and its product. The black plastic model was cheaper than the stainless steel model, and works exactly the same. Plus, as has been mentioned, is much easier to keep clean. The electronics on the machine are very easy to use to make the drink, and tell you when to add water, empty the used coffee grounds, or clean the machine.
Pros: Truly delicious espresso. Seems well-made and sturdy. It is easy to use. Cons: Haven't been able to produce really good foam. The manual is a bit confusing.
Our high end espresso machine died and we bought this one to replace it. With the new machine using the exact same beans our espresso came out sweeter, richer, and had much more crema. This machine makes the best tasting espresso we've had in a very long time. We've only had the machine a couple of weeks so we are still learning to use it. So far we have not been able to make really good foam with it. This could be our learning curve but I do think our old one was easier to use for making cappuccino. Even though I miss the creamy foam our old machine made, I'd trade up to this one any day for the taste of the coffee.
Pros: Appearance and convenience Cons: Weak, Weak, Weak coffee
We just can't get a decent cup of coffee from this expensive machine. We thought we had the wrong settings, wrong type of coffee, etc. Now over a year later I am so ready to ditch this machine for one that makes a strong cup of coffee. The black coffee comes out for only one second, the other 7 oz. is light brown water, which the rep says is the "la crema". Well I like La Crema, but only as a topper not as the main product in my cup. No way to make Exresso. You would think for $1,000 you would be able to make a cup of expresso.
