Pros: Reasonably priced at its sale price, excellent, balanced sound. Cons: Push terminals, somewhat flimsy grill, could be more efficient, not magnetically shielded.
I have been looking around for new speakers to replace my 25 year old KLH 17 speakers. For $99 at BestBuy.com (purchased via store pickup), I ended up with speakers that are very satisfying. I had previously purchased Sony SS-MF550Hs and SS-MF750Hs, ...
Pros: Low price, loud volume levels with loads of bass. Cons: Bass is sloppy and not tight, needs upgrading, cheap construction.
My wife wanted a stereo system, but not a mini system or anything expensive. Just a basic 2 channel system for background to moderate listening. And it had to be less than $400.00. I've been into audio for years and I despise mass merchandisers like ...
Okay, first review. I have a limited budget and want bang for the buck like only Grado 'phones give, so I shopped around for the cheapest towers to A/B against my old home theater, and to my surprise they beat the life out of it, hands down. Lucky for ...
Pros: price, appearance, specifications Cons: sound quality could be better with improved design
The new look of the speaker at Bestbuy attracted me. But at beginning I was doubt about the sound quality. I listened at Bestbuy, and the sound seemed so so. When I later checked some comments on internet about this speaker, I decided to buy and try it ...
Pros: *Unbelievable sound, in highs, mids, and bass.
*Price
*Look great Cons: None since I've owned them.
I originally found these speakers at Best Buy. I was looking for a new set of front speakers for my surround system at home and I wanted something that was high quality. I actually started looking more at Sony bookshelf and floorstanding models as well ...
Pros: GREAT BASS, MIDS, AND HIGHS Cons: OVER LOOKED BECAUSE OF LOW PRICE
Do not be fooled by the brand or price of these speakers, I assure you the performance is top notch. At $100 a pair (BestBuy) there is no better deal to speak of. The sound is crisp, clean, and deep in a way high end speakers are. I bought these ...
The speakers themselves look professional, that is until you take off the grill. there you will find flashy silver plastic . the plastic distracts you from thinking you have a real quality product. the wood vinyl on the speakers looks nice, although ...
Nice sounding speakers at a budget price! I boght these from bestbuy in feb. 05 for $99 on sale, i needed some cheap floor speakers for music only and these looked good. Teamed with my onkyo tx8211 receiver and kenwood eq they sounded fine very good highs and mids but the bass was a bit boomy and hollow. So i took the advice of another reviewer here and added some more polyfill and bam no ore boominess. The bass is now tight and smooth, this cheap and simple mod works wonders folks. Overall i'm now very happy with these speakers. If your in need of some good speakers and dont wanna spend too much $ give them a try.
Garbage-Exactly what $100 gets you. by te802 ,Dec 21 '05
Pros: Cheap Cons: Made for taking up space.
They're great until you turn them up and can start to hear them. Then the tweeters go...Best buy takes 'em back - no questions asked. Save your money and get some quality gear instead. I knew they were junk by the price alone. I wasn't disappointed...
Pros: Decent treble Cons: Mushy, thumpy bass that sounds like a sub-woofer.
For ~$125 per pair I expected more. I have these hooked to a good stereo amplifier. The sound booms and has bass resonances. Also, the speaker has weak mid-frequencies.
I tried out my Shelly Mann Jazz collection which has some superb bass playing. The bass sound was just thumps and booms. None of the biting low end bass was discernible.
I have to lower the bass by 6 dB on my amplifies to get a tolerable sound that did not hurt my ears.
Pros: inexpensive, performance exceeds expectations Cons: Fragile, unsure of its reliability with hard use
If you are buying KLH speakers you obviously don't have much cash. Somehow through the magic of low priced chinese labor and "good enough" engineering, KLH manages to make a set of speakers that will give you good sound at a retail price that will make you do a double-take when you read the label.
The speaker box is very thin MDF with fake wood veneer, drivers generally look kind of cheap, the woofer magnet is very small, the internal wiring is 20 gauge, and the crossover system is a bunch of capacitors and a coil hot glued to the back of the plastic speaker jack pad. The inside has a small piece of plastic baffling which looks inadequate for the job, and the grille is mass-produced plastic and somewhat fragile.
Yet....this speaker sounds good. I don't really know how or why but it does. Its definitely more than the sum of its parts. I wouldn't recommend testing the limits of these speakers with your new 200 watt amplifier, but they are good for most listening environments that don't involve 12 year olds listening to heavy metal music.
