Pros: heavy duty. reliable. well designed. a workhorse Cons: none
The kitchen at our place is our playground. We love to cook, to bake and to create wonderful, edible experiments. When you play hard with your toys, sometimes they need fixing or replacing. My food processor finally got past the point of being fixable at ...
Pros: Quiet, powerful, elegant. Seriously well thought out. Kudos to Kitchen Aid. Cons: Can only fill large feed tube halfway or the machine won't run.
BackgroundFirst I have to make a confession. I gave up on "food processors" after a a rather middling experience with a Braun Kitchen Machine many years ago. While that machine was a reliable workhorse, it was only good for making cat food ...
Pros: Very versatile, can do almost anything Cons: Clean up annoying if not done immediately, citrus press doesn't work well
I have owned the KFPW760 for almost a year, and by this point I can't imagine living without it. Over the past year I have made all of the following in it: pizza dough, pie crusts, salad dressing, falafel, coleslaw, veggie burgers, and an assortment of ...
I have owned this machine for about a week now and have only used it twice, but so far so GREAT! First Try I was headed to a party at the last minute and had to bring something. I decided to make hummus because I had all the ingredients and was ...
Pros: Super quiet for what it gets done. Cons: On the heavy side. Lockout switch could cause future trouble.
KitchenAid KFPW760 12 Cups Food Processor Design: The simple three button design really works well into my design theme in my house. The buttons are large and easy to clean. They are thin film buttons like you will find on my appliances ...
Pros: Power, quietness, wide feed tube, accessories Cons: dough blade extremely hard to remove after use
I bought this to replace a 25-year-old Cuisinart (bought when Cuisinart was its own company). Friends had always commented on how noisy their machines were compared to my Cuisinart so I decided to make quietness, power, and a large feed tube my top ...
Pros: Powerful, easy to use, makes jobs quick, Service Center, dishwasher safe Cons: Slicing disk stuck, food stuck under handle that can't be cleaned
Love my standing mixer so decided to give the Food Processor a try. My Cuisinart was over 25 years old and need a new one.
My first few uses were great. Made potato pancakes in less than a minute. Shredding and slicing disks worked like a charm. Now after only 3 months, the disk holder is stuck. Called the service center and they asked me pour hot water in the bowl to try and loosen. No luck. When I called back, they were great! I will have a brand new machine in 7 days and will take back the broken machine with no shipping charges. I now hope this was just a fluke and my new machine will work flawlessly.
One other drawback is that there is one tiny area under the handle that can't be cleaned and food does get stuck there.
Everything else is dishwasher safe unlike Cuisinart which is hand wash only.
Pros: Powerful unit with sharp blades Cons: Safety features are irritating. Instructions with machine are inadequate.
I was using the large slicing blade disk to slice veggies, into the 12 cup work bowl. All of a sudden I heard a strange grinding noise. I stopped the machine, and unplugged it.
Close inspection revealed that the slicing disk had become dislodged, and had actually cut into the plastic feeding tube. Shards of plastic were present in the food.
I was able to get the top off of the machine, but was unable to remove the work bowl and bottom from the base of the machine.
A search on the internet revealed that KitchenAid had problems with food processors a few years ago, and actually recalled several of their models after 30 reported incidents of the cap on the blade unit becoming dislodged during use.
I am not impressed with the design of their current product, and would not recommend it.
Pros: Quiet, powerful, great price Cons: Heavy so don't plan on hiding it in the cupboard.
I have the onyx black color of this machine and am sooo impressed with it. I give it all stars. It isn't loud, it is quick, it is powerful. I use it to make bread every couple days. It does the kneading for me! It turns out excellent loaves of bread.
I haven't used the discs much, but they work fine for me. I mainly use the stainless steel blade and the dough blade. Oh, and cookie dough is wonderful with this machine. All you do is dump everything in it and turn it on for less than a minute and it is all ready to scoop onto the cookie sheets and bake. You have to preheat the oven BEFORE you even assemble the ingredients, this is so fast.
Great Machine; Terrible design flaw with disks and spindle by MS_Dayton,_Oh_dt1 ,Mar 19 '07
Pros: Heavy duty motor and that's about it! Cons: Customer "no service". Shreds plastic into food. Would never buy again! Cuisinart MP14
High quality machine. However, when using the disks, they can shred the plastic cover on the bowl and shred sharp plastic shards into the food. Mine did just that and the disk shaft got stuck on the motor spindle. It was impossible to remove rendering the machine useless. I called KitchenAid "customer no service" to explain the situation as I had read this occurs quite frequently. The machine was out of warranty and they would not provide any help or adjustment. Granted, the warranty expired 6 months ago, but this problem is a DESIGN flaw not a quality of materials issue. My guess is that this is a fine machine if you only use the chopper blade. Otherwise, I will never buy KitchenAid/Whirlpool again due to the lack of understanding from the customer service department. My cash will go to the upscale Cuisinart MP-14.
Pros: Powerful, easy to clean and use. Outstanding value, a must for any avid cook. Cons: Would like to see more in the manual, suggestions and instructions.
This is my first heavy duty food processor. I had a little cheap one, and this one is head and shoulders above my first. I has a lot of power and it was easy to assemble and use right out of the box. Mine came with a chef's box to store the accessories which is a great feature. I also bought mine from QVC and got a great deal on it. On my first try I shredded potatoes and cheddar cheese, it was amazing how fast and easy it was. We will be buying in bulk now and shredding or slicing at home. My only downside was I wish they put more suggestions or ideas in the manual for ways to use it.
My processor is about 3 years old and not used very often so imagine my surprise when I was slicing potatoes with the medium slicing disc and the machine ground to a halt. Upon closer examination the corner of the blade had dug into the work bowl cover and sliced some of the plastic off and into the potatoes. The disc stem is jammed onto the machine and will not come off. I called the service center and they said it will probably cost more to fix than it is worth! This is an expensive machine that has been used 20-25 times. Looking around for consumer reports I found I am not the only person to have this same problem. I am very disappointed in Kitchen aid for selling this low quality product. Definately not worth the money!
