Pros: Easy to use, nice looking results Cons: Not as easy to use as a SLR.
This is another in the Kodak EasyShare line. And just like its predecessors it is a very easy camera to use. I feel it is designed for the masses. But even though it is designed for the average individual it is still a very powerful digital camera. ...
Pros: Clear crisp pictures, beautiful color, able to shoot black and white. Cons: manual could be better, small on and off button.
For Christmas this year, my husband bought me a camera. He knew I wanted a camera that had a zooming lens where I could take close-ups or long range pictures of the birds and boats outside our house on the lake. I couldnt have dreamed up the ...
Pros: Long Battery Life, takes pictures in low light, movies come out pretty good. Cons: Like a non-digital camera with all the fixings, this takes lots of getting used to.
This is only my second digital camera. The first one I bought was a nightmare. It was a Hewlett Packard, and although it took great pictures when the battery was fully charged, the battery only stayed charged for about one to two pictures, and then it ...
Pros: 10X Optical Zoom
Easy to use Cons: Lots of JPG artifacting at all image quality settings
I purchased my Kodak DX7590 a little over a year ago. For the most part the camera serves me well. I have learned to adjust for its quirks and am somewhat satisfied with the pictures it produces. The camera came very close to meeting my expectations but ...
Pros: 5.0mp, ease of use, 10x optical zoom, solid feel, lots of options. Cons: Flimsy battery door, high compression levels
I received this camera as a Christmas gift after I had done some research throughout the summer to choose the camera that was right for me. The Kodak DX7590, released in September, is an upgrade to the popular DX6490 model. The main differences ...
Pros: 10x zoom
great picture quality
awesome pre-set modes
best camera! Cons: on/off button slightly awkward
no manual focus - not an issue for me
This camera is amazing! I have had only Sony digital cameras before this - I had the DSCs30, s50, F717 and then the latest, the DSCV-1. All were good. I read the reviews on this new Kodak and just had to try it. I went to Best Buy, picked it up and used ...
Pros: Zoom, automatic settings, ease of use Cons: Brutal manual, poor lens cap
I bought this camera in February, and immediately used it on a 4+ month around-the-world trip that put it through its paces on Fijian seascapes, Kiwi alpscapes, Indonesian wildlife, Thai street scenes, Egyptian antiquities, and the varied delights of ...
Pros: Easy to use, good quality pics, Lots of shooting options Cons: Needs battery meter, lens adapter underexposes with built-in flash, needs image stabilization
I bought this camera in my quest to no longer use film. With a 1 GB SD card I can take over 600 5mb standard pics! I wanted a zoom and got a great one but at distance, you must hold the camera steady of course. That's where image stabilization would ...
Pros: 10x optical zoom, large display, many scene modes and user adjustable settings, good image quality. Cons: Power button is very small and in a recessed spot.
I owned a Kodak DX3900 for 3 years and enjoyed the ease of use of the Kodak software and dock for downloading pictures. I enjoyed 35mm photography for several years prior to beginning digital photography and now was looking for a digital camera with a ...
Pros: easy, camera/accessories grow with you, can print at home with printer dock, Cons: No Raw image, but otherwise, no complaints.
very consumer friendly, this Kodak camera really outdoes most of the competition, and when you include the low price and other features, there are no real competitors. kodak offers a 10x zoom and has 5 megapixels for super sharpness, even if you decide ...
Pros: 10 power zoom, 5MP, anti blur features, Cons: Darker pictures tend to turn out grainy or blurred.
I bought my Kodak a couple years ago. It has turned out to be a very good all around camera. I have bought a stand for my longer or darker shots. He helps to stabilize the camera from blurring. The camera is impressive the clear shots it takes at quite a ...
Pros: It looks impressive and it has easy to use controls Cons: BLURRY and inconsistent photo quality, plus bad flash problems
I have been taking photos semi-professionally for churches and organizations for 25+ years and digital photos for at least 7 years. I have never had a camera other than this one that has such bad focus problems. About 1 in 4 photos is blurry. Shots ...
Pros: Great 10X OPTICAL zoom, with 5 Megapixel resolution, made easy! Cons: The way the camera is designed, when you hold it, your finger blocks the auto-focus!
I feel like digital cameras have become akin to my cell phone. It seems every year or two, I am looking for a new, up to date model. Well this time, I had an older Kodak 2800, which is 2 Megapixels, and cost me $625 at Buy.com a few years ago! Wow, have ...
Pros: Good zoom range, large screen. Cons: SLOW, low image quality, annoying to use.

Pros: Great images at wide angles, overall user friendliness Cons: Long zoom, while enticing, does not come with image stabilizer feature
I purchased the Kodak DX7590 in January 2005 after doing what I thought was ample research. The decision to purchase this particular model was based on the long zoom features (up to equivalent 380 mm lens). Overall, this camera is pretty decent with ...
Pros: picture quality, ease of use, preset settings, zoom Cons: size, too big to fit in a pocket
I've had this camera for 1.5 years now.
I absolutely love it. the quality of pictures are great.
the ezshare software is very easy to use and you can email pictures to others via the kodak website (won't slow down email)
I've been taking pictures at some weddings that rival the professional photographers!!!
I also picked up a lens kit from ebay, screws right in, wide angle, extra zoom, filters, very cool stuff.
the ONLY drawback is that it doesn't fit in my pocket
Kodak EasyShare .....name itself says that it makes things easier! by pshefali ,Dec 15 '06

Finally worth printing the many digital pics I take! Yippee!! by anniem294 ,Jan 23 '05
Pros: Great quality photos, easy to use, nice selection of scenes. Cons: On off button is in a weird spot like everyone seems to complain about!
This is the best camera I've owned. Takes great photos and the print quality is excellent! I had a couple printed at CVS yesterday, they look better than any 35mm camera I've ever used. The good thing is you just pick the ones you want to print, and pay for only them! Also, you're not buying film and wasting getting them all printed when you only like one third of them to begin with!! Just great!!
I have 3 grandchildren and I play to capture every single bit of each ones life, so it was worth the $499.99 dollars - in the end I'll save plenty on film and developing charges!
Pros: Great pictures, Easy to use, Great video Cons: Biger then the smaller cameras out there wont fit in pocket
The camera is amazing. Kodak is really great product. Its now my 5th digital camera and this one is by far the best one yet. I have now had the camera for 4 months no problems at all. Very easy to understand and use. We got it for a great price brand new on sale. The pictures come out amazing compared to are other camera which was also a 5 megapixle. The video capture is amazing as well. I recomended it to a few people already and Two of are friends ended up buying it cause they loved it so much. I am sure the other kodak cameras work just as well. This is are first Kodak camera and we are staying with this brand name from now on. Thanks KODAK
Pros: excellent pictures, enough features for a pro, simple for a newbie. Cons: small on/off button, could use a better lens cover holder
When I was looking for a camera, I wanted at least a 4 MP camera with lots of optical zoom. I also didn't want a tiny camera; I have large hands. I initially looked at the DX6490, but at the same time the DX7590 came out. Amongst the reasons we chose the DX7590 was the 5 MP, and the 10X optical. A bonus was the unlimited movie size. We are currently using a 512mb SD card which gives us more pictures than I could label at one time. I really like the size of the camera, it's close to an SLR, but not too big, nor too small. I am really impressed with both the quality of the picture (I have set the default to 4.4MP which is 4 x 6 size); and the movie quality is unbelievable for a camera. Would I recommend this camera, you bet. It works seamlessly with my Mac as well.
Easy to use for novice and expert alike. Small on/off button only major drawback. by tromar1 ,May 02 '05
Pros: Very user friendly with many different modes, including video, black/white, etc. Cons: Small on/off button. Even with adequate lighting, DX7590 prompt to open flash.
Kodak's DX7590 is by far better than many of its competitor for the simple fact that it is really simply to use. A relative newcomer to the digital photo world (like me) will master the menu within minutes. It is self explanatory, and even provide a descriptive phrase for each setting on the large 2.2" LCD screen.
Pros: Easy to use Great value for the buck Long battery life huge memory cards Cons: Low light auto focusing has 20% failure. Even daylight has too many focus failures.
I wanted something more than my first digital camera. I wanted a LOT of optical zoom. I wanted various exposure modes and the ability to shoot in low light situations without flash. I have found that the controls and modes are easy to learn and relatively easy to use. The 10X Optical zoom is fantastic. Add the digital zoom and it's like a 500 mm lens on my SLR. It could use image stabilization, but for the price it is a great camera with one BIG problem. FOCUS FAILURES are way too common. I need to get in touch with customer support and find out if it is a problem. This camera definitely needs manual focus override.
Don't count on nice pictures by kingpenm3 ,Apr 26 '05
Pros: Looks good on paper (like communism) Cons: Have to use blind luck to get even decent pictures.
This camera has been a horrible experience for us. The features and press made this camera sound great and we couldn't be more excited until we tried to use it. This camera is awful. Don't even dream of doing any point and shoot picture taking. Only a few of the pictures will turn out. It is like playing the lottery for good pictures. If the picture turns out in focus it just seems too digital. The worst part is the zoom. Anything over half zoom is so blurry that you have to instantly delete it because of how bad it looks on the 2" screen! The ultimate catch 22 is with anything close up. I tried to take a picture of my wife's hand with a new ring. First the macro mode couldn't focus on anything closer than 24". Then when I backed up to focus in the picture was blurring with the zoom. I wouldn't recommend this camera to anyone, unless you like to take 20 minutes to try to catch a decent picture by luck every time.
Easy to Use - Right from the Box by vsionarium ,Dec 08 '05
Pros: Lots of useful features, take beautiful, high-quality photos Cons: Accompanying software is not so great
I got this camera as a gift and straight from the box I was taking pictures. I love all of the features - black and white and sepia options, a setting for taking action photos and even night ones too. The only thing that could be better about this camera really doesn't have anything to do with the camera itself - it's the software that comes with it. Sometimes I have issues getting Kodak's "Easyshare" program to upload my photos from the camera and I also find that this program is not as user friendly as it could be.
Pros: Ease of use. Quality of pictures. Ease of downloads. Cons: Clear pictures with movement are not possible.
For taking basic pictures of friends, family, landscapes, etc...this is a fantastic camera. But, and it is a big BUT, the auto focus does not react quick enough to get pictures of people that are moving.
With that said...the downloading of the memory into a computer is fast, efficient, and fairly well organized. The quality of pictures is wonderful and the printing of pics up 8X10 is extremely clear.
If you are looking for an everyday camera to take along on trips, family outings, holidays, or just to sit by the front door to take those spur of moment pics, then this is the camera for you. But if you want to take pictures with movement such as sporting events, you should look else where.
Camera great for Average user. by pasekmi ,Mar 19 '05
Pros: Quality pictures. Battery lasts a long time and charges quickly. Cons: None.
This camera fits nicely in the average hand, and appears to be built fairly solidly. I've dropped mine once and it keeps in ticking. It has a nice 10x optical zoom and owners have the option of manual settings.
Some folks have complained about the small on button. It's supposed to be small and recessed to prevent it from being turned on accidentally. Some previous Kodak models (e.g. DX3600) had a problem where the camera would turn on when you where putting it in a camera bag - you wouldn't realize it until later when the battery was dead.
I have the DX3900 and wanted to upgrade. I researched many cameras and kept going back to this one. As soon as I got it I loved it.
I have taken it to baseball games and get incredible pictures. I've also taken pictures of jewelry with ease. I usually get the picture I want within the first 2 shots.
It also takes great pictures in low lighting.
It is a camera that can be used for taking any kind of pictures
Pros: light,good for travel,good lens,nice pictures,easy camera.
fast but you need to turn of the preview. Cons: pictures can be better.
to muts compression,to high noise reduction.
Its an verry good camera.
not the best in low light but good.
no focus problems.
at the end of the zoom you need good light of high ISO to
get the picture sharp.
Exept if you have sun.
Can't say this is an bad camera it produce nice pictures.
A little on the red site but.you can twink thad with anny software.
macro is verry good.
But you can't use flash in macro.
you can get verry close to your macro but use the onboard flash is not possible.
the lens block the light.
at 38 MM
The Ev is verry good.
picture are verry good.
but not at 100% then you can see some bluring in the pictures coused by the havy compression.
Iso noise is verry good.
simple I can't see anny noise.
but on the other hand noise reduction is set to high.
It was better if you can turn on or off noise reduction.
Weak Main Selector Button by johnfmartin ,Aug 16 '06
Pros: Good value initially. Cons: Multifunction switch/button weak.
Lens adapter problems.
The function selector lever/joy stick/button seems to be a weak part in the DX7590 camera. I had noticed how flimsy the button felt in a demo unit at Staples before a purchase at another Staples, and sure enough, after one year, the button failed. Kodak wants $150 to fix the problem.
Whenever a lens adapter is screwed into the main body so that an external lens/filter can be used , all future pictures are much darker, even with no lens/filter attached.
I thought that buying a relatively expensive camera, I would avoid most cheap quality problems - my assumption was incorrect. I am sure I have purchased my last Kodak anything.
i had the 4.0 and now the 5.0 by tkhart ,May 09 '05
Pros: easy to use. great looking prints. great color. great close ups. Cons: to review pictures, the screen must be viewed at an angle.
both are great cameras. very similar. the 5.0 has more functions with the same ease of use. it is a great camera for beginners who want professional quality. everything is so easy to use. each setting tells you right on the screen what to use it for. it's a fairly no-brainer. at the same time, a more professional photographer would enjoy the more experienced seetings. this camera has everything. i love th super close ups as well as the 8x digital zoom. fantastic camera for the money.
BEWARE OF THIS CAMERA !!! by jerseychicmom ,Mar 12 '05
Pros: This is a nice "Looking" camera - Cons: HORRIBLE CRAFTSMANSHIP - CHOOSE ANOTHER BRAND !!!!
I WORK AT BEST BUY - KODAK CAMERAS - ALL THE 6400 - 7500 SERIES ALL COME BACK - I see at least 5 a day. There is a little plastic clip that cracks off of the battery compartment. No model is exluded. One day at work I witnessed 5 Kodak Digital Camera all come in for the same thing !!! (one of these models, two 7440's, two 7460's and one 7580) Don't fall for this. This is a nice "Looking" camera - BUT there are many more to choose from. Just to let you know. Some of the people had Best Buy "extended" service plans on their camera and were told this was "physical damage" and Best Buy would not honor repair.
Pros: Easy to use, not too large, great pictures. Cons: Cheap, breakable lens cover
Easy to use, not too large, great pictures. Overall, I'm very pleased, and I find reasons to constantly use the camera. However, I don't like the lens cover. It is cheap, breaks easily and is expensive to replace.
Pros: Outstanding optical zoom and outstanding lens quality. Excellent software. Cons: Somewhat complex for first time users. Focus function on automatic can be difficult.
As a semi-professional user of SLRs and medium format cameras, this camera comes as close to a SLR as a point and shoot camera can come. Outstanding Schneider lens. Excellent manual control flexibility as well as automatic functions. Kodak software is excellent and easy to use. Print service from Kodak is excellent. To fully utilize and understand all the functions the user needs to have some experience using film cameras, but the automatic functions will do well lacking that background. As with all digital cameras I would recommend using the optical zoom function over the camera's digital zoom. Only negative is a difficult to use focus system particularly for close up photography. Editing should be done on a good computer. I highly recommend this camera.
Great Camera, Great Pictures by missourigirl81 ,Aug 02 '05
Pros: Great camera for those looking for a more high-end camera without the cost. Cons: Small on/off button, no zoom in video mode.
Couldn't ask for a better camera. Takes great pictures that look good when printed. Video is really good, just can't zoom in. I've used mine for family portraits, snapshots, and video and haven't had any problems.
Pros: Pictures and Video are awesome. So User Friendly! Cons: Can't figure out burstmode-- pics are blurry. Can't set up Address Book for email.
We've only had this camera for 2 days but it I'm already "in" love with it! The pictures I have taken are incredible. I printed two with my HP Photosmart printer and they were amazing. Color and Clearness were exceptional. The images are so clear. All of the features are so user-friendly. I have always been a point and shoot kinda gal and this camera gives me lots of options to turn my freshman like attitude into a novice.
The software that comes with the camera is fantastic. No manual needed. It is very self-explanatory. Overall I would give this camera a 10. I am so happy. I think my scrapbooking will greatly improve because I have so much control over my photos. Way to go Kodak! We are for sure sold and will tell everyone I know how great the camera is.
Pros: Clear, crisp images. Cons: Small power button. Can't zoom in and out when using video feature.
I LOVE this camera. I agree with the others, the power button is a little awkward. My only other complaint would be that you can't zoom in and out when using the video feature. But the quality of the photos is unbelievable. You get clear and crisp images.
Out of the 5 digis I've had this is by far the best! by smcgillivray ,Feb 16 '06
Pros: shutter control, aperture control, flash intensity, slave flash capability. Cons: the adapter for extra lenses must be bought through kodak.com
I bought this from Wal-Mart about 1 year ago now and it is the best digital camera that I have ever had. I love that it has all the features that a decent professional camera would have. The only thing that I didn't like about it was that it had a pc sync cord and not a hot shoe for the slave flash but hey that works too. If you are looking for a camera that you can take anywhere at anytime and is lightweight this is not what you are looking for. But if you are looking for something that takes impeccable pictures that can be sold in gallery, like I have. Then this is the way to go especially for the price. I absolutely love it!
Pros: Compact size, great pic's, and ease of use. Cons: Tiny on/off button, no wrist strap. Otherwise, an awesome camera.
I've had this camera for three months now and I love it. It's easy to hold onto (I have fumbley hands), the LCD screen is easy to see (I'm supposed to wear my glasses, and don't), the zoom lens gets in close to the subject (again, the glasses thing) and the pictures turn out clean and crisp. I do wish it had come with a wrist strap, however ... made my own. I doubt I'll need to replace this camera for quite some time. Good job, Kodak.
Exactly What I have been waiting for! by sharic ,Sep 30 '04
Pros: Zoom
Feel of camera
Large LCD Cons: White balance controls, and on/off switch is a bit small.
This is my third digital camera, all Kodak. I had a DC210, then a DX 4330, I was getting ready to purchase 6490 and had read this was coming out. What a great camera! The LCD is huge and allows my eyes to see the picture clearly. The controls and easy to use and make sense. I love just about everything about this camera!!!
The only few things is that I wish I could adjust white balance in all settings and the silliest thing is the on/off switch, small and in an odd spot. I keep hitting the Icon button instead! Otherwise the wisest investment I have made in a long time! Love the zoom, can't wait to take it to my son's football game!
Pros: 10X Zoom, Multiple resolutions and compression settings, true to color exposures, easy menu system Cons: None
I've owned a few digital cameras, Olympus, Nikon, but this is my first Kodak brand. I must say I am absolutely delighted with the performance thus far. Some of my pictures have been almost life-like when viewed on my PC monitor. It's fast, easy to use for the beginner, and enough features for the advanced user. If you are film camera user looking for your first digital or a digital user looking to upgrade, then look no further. This camera should receive top considerations during your search.
Pros: Easy to use. Cons: Focus will ruin pictures.
I originally loved this camera for it's easy to use features, but soon found that no matter what I did moving objects would not focus more than 25% of the time. I have used cameras all of my life and never had a problem focusing a picture. Even if I am absolutely still and have the camera set to "Action" taking a picture of adults standing still it still does not focus 75% of the time. I have had this camera for 10 months and the focusing on the camera is getting worse and worse. I plan on returning the camera and getting one with image stabilization.
Pros: ease of use, wonderfully clear pictures, easy share feature is the greatest! Cons: None that I have found yet
I got this camera as an early Christmas present. I have already taken many pictures of my children and our tree with the presents under it, oh and an awesome night time picture of our house with the lights on. This camera is the best digital camera I have owned yet! The software is great and the dock that it comes with is awesome, no more hooking the camera up to the computer to download the pics...just set the camera on the dock and press a button! You can't go wrong with this camera, it is great for a beginner or an advanced user.
Pros: Great zoom and macro shots. Beautiful rich photos. Great software. Cons: No image stabilizer.
This camera is as easy to use as just point and shoot and will deliver great photos. It has a lot of modes programed in and are easy to select. It also gives you the capability to use manual controls with the exception of focus. The software is the best I have seen. I almost passed on this camera because of some issues raised by some of the expert reviews I had read and I am sure glad I did not. This is a real winner. The only con I see with this camera is the lack of an image stabilizer, so it is important to be steady when you snap the shutter. Way to go Kodak.
Pros: Picture quality is excellent. The zoom is awesome. Very adaptable camera. Cons: The on/off switch could be larger or placed differently. Only complaint so far.
This camera has an excellent feel to it, unlike most of the smaller digitals. Controls are easy to utilize. The LCD screen is super, as is the EVF control to adjust for your vision. After months of weighing the pros and cons of the many brands on the market, I feel I have made a terrific choice.
Pros: Camera Footprint,Screen size, Scene selection and the thumb wheel to switch between functions. Cons: Stronger Flash and automated release for popup flash
I bought this camera as an upgrade from an existing 3mp Kodak. Did quite a bit of homework and all of it was worth it. The camera has all the bells and whistles you'd expect and then there's the 10x optical zoom, just awesome!
Picture Quality:
Great quality, although at times the fast picture may come out blurry, however the preview (with 8x zoom on the 2.1in screen) will assist in preventing you taking a bad shot.
Features:
Some features I liked about the camera:
Scene Mode, pre-programed scene modes are great for taking speciality pictures. I used the fireworks scene and got some great time lapsed shots of my daughter playing with a sparkler.
Overall I'd recommend this camera to both beginners and intermediate users as it is very easy to use and yet has the (limited) manual controls.
