Pros: Littleness, well designed, good pictures, folded optics, fast startup Cons: Propriety battery/charger, no internal memory, no manual shutter, Noise
Update: Noise alert I bought this camera to replace my Nikon E2200 which some idiot robbed off me in Amsterdam (probably so he/she/it could sell it and buy weed??). I wanted something with a bit more than 2 mega pixels, and manual shutter. ...
Pros: small, lightweight, great pictures, easy to use Cons: Can't think of anything I don't like about it.
I bought this camera to replace my Dimage X, which I've had for a few years and it was a great camera. I wanted to get the newer version with more features, more pixels, larger LCD screen, and basically the latest Dimage version. I am very happy with ...
Pros: small, 5MP, fast, user friendly, voice recorder, gd pics Cons: bad nite movies, no carrying case
The x50 is made in korea and built quality is gd. It comes in 3 colors (silver, black and red) i got the black one, which in my opinion is one of the best looking sub compacts around. It uses both SD and MMC cards and as high speed SD cards are quite ...
The 5mp revolution is a farce. The quality of CCD and optics contained in this tiny camera produce poorer end results then my very first Fuji MX1200 1.3mp digital camera. It seems each upgrade I make has such high hopes, but fails to deliver. The ...
Easy Point and Shoot Compact by buckeye6838 ,May 02 '05
Pros: Camera Size, view screen, Ease of use, SD card Cons: Picture Quality only good
Bought two - one for my wife and one for me so she would not complain about me taking the camera on boating excursions. Compact fits nicely in inside jacket pocket Large front lens cover turns on camera so you do not miss those rare shots trying to find some micro mini on/off switch. Picture quality is good - not great! Overall a good choice for someone who does not want to lug around a lunch size box just for a camera.
very small pictures arent that great by mjo172 ,Mar 04 '05
Pros: -great buttons
-no drivers needed
-small
-very nice to look at Cons: -poor picture quality
-easy to scratch
Ive wanted this camera since it came out...and now i have it. I have the red one and its very pretty. It's always a conversation piece when i take it out at parties and everyone wants to play with it. I got a 512mb stick for and i can take almost 30min of video. I loe some of the different picture options that you can take. Even thought its obscenely small it fits well in the hand and the buttons are very well laid out. The lens is too small for any greta pictures. It doesnt matter that its 5mp, it still takes lousy pictures. If the lens were bigger i would completely recommend it. Otherwise only use this as a backup camera.
Pros: size, user friendly Cons: terrible image quality
Image quality is unacceptably poor in both still and video mode. All images were taken indoors, but what good is a 5 mega pixel camera that won't take decent pictures indoors?
The small size of this camera is nice and the design of its controls and interfaces is very friendly. Poor image quality makes these strengths moot, however.
Pros: small. fast. decent LCD. Cons: bad photos. scratches. short battery life.
Even at the best setting the photo quality is poor. Very grainy. Bad JPG compression and a lot of legacies. I've sent it to Minolta three times thinking there was a problem. Or at least a firmware update. They've sent it back each time saying there was no problem.
Pros: Size Cons: If you have big hands, it could be a problem.
I've gotten many compliments about the size of this compact digital camera. I've had other camera, and when I put it in my pocket. What a hassle! With this camera, it neatly fits in any pocket... No bulkiness.
Great camera for little money by et5554 ,Apr 22 '05
Pros: Size, simple to operate, battery charge time, underwater case as genuine accessory Cons: high noise at ISO 400
Bought it in April 2005 due to the good experience with the previous model Dimage Xt, which got stolen as well as the availability of an underwater case as genuine accessory.
The quality of pictures with ISO manually set to 400 is not worth mentioning (the manufacturer should have worked a bit harder on this).
Otherwise a great camera. Would recommend to buy it.
Pros: Size! Good pictures, incredibly fast to startup, very friendly user controls. Cons: Not good pictures in bad light, autofocus suffers with lens dirt, movies in Quicktime, battery
I bought this as a replacement for a 3 MP Olympus with 8x optical zoom. I chose this for size, megapixels, boot time, and the 3x optical zoom. It's been good so far but I still wish the pictures under bad light were slightly better. I use it with a standard-speed 512mb card and it is quite fast.
I bought another battery on ebay - a MUST since after a full day of taking pictures the battery goes dead. It charges pretty fast (45 min ..1h) so if you are travelling you can plug it in any place you are hanging out at (the charger takes 110 to 240 v). Not recommended for trips where you won't have access to an outlet for a week :)
I seem to manage OK with 2 batteries so far.
Pros: Fast, small, 5MP, lots of shooting options Cons: Only JPEG format (no tiff), noisy indoors or in low light.
I like everything about this camera except it's indoor/low light behavior. Apparently all compact cameras have the same problem of increased noise when taking indoor/low light pictures. Outdoor pictures look great. There are plenty of options, and the camera is fast. But indoor pics usually show up very noisy, especially when the flash is on. I've reduced the problem by changing the exposure to its shortest interval, but its impossible to reduce altogether. If you reduce picture size to put on web or print 4x6, it probably doesn't matter.
