Pros: 12X optical zoom, hot shoe, Super fast, live histogram, combo switch finder is gone
Cons: Chromatic aberration, Minolta only Hot Shoe, small 1.5 LCD screen, high noise levels
The Long Zoom digicam market segment has long been dominated by Olympus and Fuji, but Konica-Minolta is quickly taking the lead in this rapidly growing and very popular marketing niche. The new Konica-Minolta DiMAGE Z3 has been completely re-designed to ...
Pros: Durable; great macro photography; easy on batteries Cons: Hard to use in low lighting situations even with external flash; lower resolution
Unless you're going to spend about $3,000 for a digital camera, just get ready to put up with something that's just almost as good as a quality film camera. That's just how it is, sadly, and the Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z3 digital camera produces pictures ...
Pros: Improved body, good menu displays. Cons: Disappointing photo quality on low-light images, very little lens protection.
I recently made the decision to try Konica-Minolta's Dimage Z3 digital camera. Up until now, I've been shooting with a FujiFilm S5000 and have generally been pleased, but have had some minor discontent with the photo quality. The grass seemed to be a ...
Pros: 12x optical zoom, AA batteries, good battery life Cons: Could have a better LCD display, focus problems with flash
I admit to having the expensive habit of wanting a new camera every 18 months or so. Considering how much digital cameras cost, this isn't the best of ideas - but I just had to have a camera with a good optical zoom and anti-shake technology. The Z3 ...
Pros: ZOOM, SD memory, 4x AA batts, effective menu utilities, appearance, returnability for repairs Cons: out-of-the-box experience, picture sharpness, website contact, flaws exchanged for minor one, not for big hands
Studies conclude that a single negative impression has five times the impact/residual effect as positive one. I decided on this unit after 2 weeks of reading comparing reviews of over 40 digital cameras: 39+ competitors! A recommendation from another ...
Pros: 12X anti-shake zoom Great exposure controls instantaneous exposure excellent pictures accurate Optical Viewer light weight Cons: SD card slot has no latch at ISO 50 objects can be overexposed somewhat.
I still have a Minolta F100, but I wanted a more powerful zoom and a faster response. The F100's 3X zoom and inordinately long delay from pressing shutter to exposure meant getting those pictures of the kids playing ball were impossible. The Optical ...
Pros: Extremely fast
Very easy to use
Great photo quality
Solid design
Mega zoom Cons: Weak flash
Shaky night pictures with zoom
Bulky for everyday use
Can devour your batteries
I bought my Minolta Z3 almost 6 months ago and have used it for a variety of settings. Being a college student, its large size makes it hard to carry around at night, although at times i still do and get some great pictures as well as videos. The flash ...
Pros: Excellent pictures, easy to use with or without my glasses, vast menu choices. Cons: Flimsy little door for the memory card compartment.
I bought this camera 10 days ago, and have spent most of my time reading the manual and trying each feature on the camera. I also tried taking and downloading about 100 pictures. I read the reviews on this and other sites prior to purchase, and was ...
Pros: Good quality pix, 12x optical zoom, anti-shake feature, very easy to use. Cons: Plastic body, non-locking memory card door, non-automatic flash.
I recently purchased the Minolta Z3 for it's high optical zoom (12x - which works great) and the anti-shake feature. It replaced a Nikon Coolpix 3200 which comparing pictures, the Minolta's are far better. The built-in anti-shake is a great feature ...
Pros: anti-shake, 12x zoom, supermacro and macro modes very nice. SLR lightning fast shutter speed. Cons: None worth mentioning
I got this camera last March. I wanted a digital camera that was SLR in quality, with zero shutter lag, and the Z3 has delivered par excellence. I have taken it on 8 road trips over the past year, many throughout the Southwest -- to White Sands, ...
Pros: Anti-Shake Technology. x12 optical zoom
full auto / full manual control Cons: Batteries: Size AA will need Ni-MH 2300mA and a fast charger. (not included)
Compare with what? (nothing on 4 mp camera) Full SHIFT ANTI-SHAKE "CX Process II" technology WARRANTIES NO SHAKEN pictures. "CX Proccess II" is a calculated method by CCD not a lens stabilization. If your hand is so shaken (Parkinson) machine ...
Pros: Good battery life, decent video capacity Cons: Poor auto-focus, low standard images.
My three year old 5 megapixel Pentax upped and died, forcing me back into the consumer market where a plethora of choices await.
The Pentax was my work-horse; I'm pretty rough on my equipment, so I figure a three year life-cycle for a digital camera is pretty good.
After reading exhaustive amounts of data on countless cameras, I settled on a Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z3 Digital Camera. This was chosen due to it's touted good zoom and clear image.
Was I ever disappointed! The camera has a comfortable, light design, but the auto-focus was a bad boy, unable to make up its mind as to what constituted a location to settle on, and when you did get an image - well, perhaps I'm spoiled by my Pentax, but the results were disappointing to say the least. Night images were substandard by any measure. Do yourself a favor. Stay away from this product and you will be a happier photographer.

Pros: Good macro mode and manual user controls. Cons: Alkaline bateries are a stated option - but they DO NOT WORK!
My main beef is with the battery recomendations by the manufacture. I specifically bought this camera for its use of disposable alkaline bateries. I wanted the convience of being able to put a fresh set of bateries at any time with out the hassle of recharging. Well, even though Konica Minolta advertises the Z3 as using both disposable and rechargabe (its even in the cameras user manual!) it is FALSE. After only ten minutes of use (or about a dozen pictures) the camera would shut down after displaying "Battery Exhausted" on the LCD. After my third set of alkalines came out of the camera and still tested as full on a batery tester I sent the camera to Konica for repair. They sent it back to me saying that they "could not replicate the problem" and that they "do not recomend alkaline batteries" be used. Sure enough, rechargable batteries work fine. THANKS FOR TRICKING ME KONICA!!!
As for the cameras fuctioning - Many of the pictues come out blury and the "anti-shake" seems to be non-existant. Macro mode works very well. Just bear in mind that this is no point and shoot camera. It is very fussy.
Pros: extremely fast shutter, great for action shots Cons: Flash is not automatic, have to raise it first.
We've been using a Coolpix 4300 for the past two years. Great pics BUT very slow shutter!! We gave up taking action pictures or indoor without flash. Otherwise, it's a good camera. Friends had the DiMage Z2 and showed up actions shots of their daughter running track. WOW!! It was like using a 35mm!! So we purchased a Z3 and couldn't be happier!! Soccer, volleyball, track, they're all captured with this great camera. Plus, it uses SD cards, has plenty of settings, and the DiMage Viewer software is a good basic photo editing program. We've only had it for a couple weeks but so far no complaints!
NEW - Took lots of action shots at my daughter's soccer game. Wow!!! They were all very clear, crisp, wonderful! I am very impressed with the shutter speed and the results. I could go on and on but you get the picture, I certainly did!!!
A very good camera for its price. Try it by dr_dally ,Jun 18 '05
Pros: Fastest focus, impressive X12 zoom, easy to use, compact and light weight.Effective Anti Shake system.Very recommended. Cons: Some focus problems in low light conditions.More than average noise at night shots.
The "Konika Minolta" Z3 Digital zoom camera is one of the best cameras available in the market in its class.I have it for about 3 months and i took more than 800 shots with it. Every day i discover a new feature. Its ease of use, compact size , light weight, perfect hand fitting and impressive looking make it worth every penny. The Z3 is very responder (from operating till the first shot and between shots). Its focus is the fastest in the class .The impressive X12 zoom combined with the high quality GT "minolta" lens and the highly effective anti shake system that is very helpful (especially in the high end of the zoom)will satisfy all beginner and most advanced photographer. The only cons. is the weakness focusing in low light conditions (lack of focus assist lamp)and more than average noise at night and in door shots. In day shots there is some tendency for over contrast and less vivid colors . Although its colors are very natural most users like more vivid colors. In the bottom line i love it and i recommend it without hesitation.
