Pros: Excellent sound, intonation, and playability at a very reasonable price Cons: Cosmetically quite simple, but still attractive
I am excited. Epinions has finally added Larrivee guitars to its website, meaning that I don't have to sneak reviews of Larrivee guitars into other categories by comparing them with better-known instruments from Martin, Taylor, and Guild. Larrivee ...
Pros: Solid handmade quality, CNC accuracy, the best woods in the industry, CHEAP PRICE Cons: Same exact guitar as the expensive model without the inlay and appointments
I have been playing guitar all my life and I cannot understand why I never heard of Larrivee sooner. Thank goodness I have found Larrivee. I have traditionally owned nothing but expensive guitars such as Martin, Gibson and a few others. They each have...
Pros: Beautiful Playable Heirloom Cons: Bad factory setup
I just purchased this OM-09RW00 (Rosewood with 'Dancer' headstock inlay) from Warp Drive Music in Milwaukee, WI thru eBay for $1275 plus $35 FedEx from Milwaukee, WI to Oklahoma, USA.
Pros: Guitar case works great. Cons: Company is not willing to work with a formerly satisfied customer.
I have owned my larrivee D02 guitar for about 8 years. A couple of years ago I noticed the top beginning to cave in below the pick guard, where the neck connects to the body. I had my dealer send the guitar in to larrivee. They had the guitar for ...
Yes, you heard me correctly. I bought my D-03 TWICE! I've been a guitar player since I was 12 years old.....A longtime. About 3 years ago I turned 52 years old and realized that I never have owned a real good guitar, I had been playing at Open Mics ...
Pros: Great sound, solid construction Cons: Nothing that stands out
I have been the proud owner of a D-03 for a long long time and it has not let me down. For a much lower price you can get a guitar that sounds as good or in some cases better than 2000 dollar acoustics. I'll spare the details about the actual guitar ...
Pros: TONE - equivalent (possibly better) than $2000+ Martin HD-28 Cons: very plain looking -- all business, no fluff
Tone. Fantastic. Has bite similar to a Taylor, but with rich, cohesive, complimentary overtones. Bass is tight and low. Not as woody sounding as Martins. Midrange is where it shines above the competition -- sounds are clear, coherent where others get muddy.
D-03 models come in:
-03: spruce/mahogany
-03R: spruce/rosewood
-03K: spruce/koa
I bought D-03R.
-03: slightly brigher, higher attack, slightly dissonant overtones.
-03K: very similar to -03 (mahogany), but more dissonant overtones than -03
-03R: best overall balance, especially in midrange where the -03/K models get slightly muddy. Overtones are crisp and clean and complimentary.
Fit/Finish. Excellent. Perfect.
Paid $1080 for D-03R. Included factory case.
Tone compares favorably to expensive Martin HD-28. HD-28 has slightly more "woody" sound, whereas Larrivee has cleaner sound and more sustain.
Pros: Price, sound, quality of wood, construction, sound, playability, appearance, sound... Cons: Only one strap peg at bottom, you need to tie on strap to the head
This guitar comes alive in your hands. It is very responsive, produces sweet, resonant and airy sound due to quality of wood, construction and bracing. Fingerpicking, or flat-picking, soft or loud, this guitar surpasses just about any at any price. I have the mahogany, two years old, aging nicely, top is darkening slowly. Hard to compare to new guitars that all sound and feel stiff to me in stores. You need to go to a store and try one of these out for yourself. Their entry-level OM and L models are also very, very nice. This model (Dreadnought) is the most versatile in my opinion. Does not produce the boominess that many dreadnoughts do. It rings clear, balanced and true up and down the neck. Flawless construction, easy action, well-spaced strings for finger-style or strumming.
Pros: Best quality per dollar spent. Cons: Don't know of any...
I thought I wanted a Martin guitar when I played better. That was until I found the Larrivee guitar! For the price it is just as good as any professional grade guitar for a much better cost! I upgraded from a Takamine G-530 series and it was like night and day! Not that the Takamine was a dog, but the Larrivee has such a sweet tone, and the bass e string really demonstrates its capability.
