Pros: Sufficient for office applications and DVD movies Cons: Poor fan design and location; 24X-speed CD-ROM
The demands of e-commerce today require corporate fleet notebooks to offer more than just budget-priced computing for the corporate employee. Dell's new Latitude C600 combines the features required in a corporate notebook at a price that should make it...
Pros: Lots of RAM, lots of hard drive space, nice display. DVD. Cons: A little heavy, not as sleek as other notebooks
The Dell Latitude C600 is an excellent computer. My job just upgraded us to the LatC600s from our Compaq Armada m700. It's configured with 128MB RAM, 20 GB Harddrive, DVD, 14" display, and running Windows 2000.
Pros: Lightweight, hardware is capable... Cons: I wish I got it earlier...
The Dell Latitude C600 really is a mobile solution for those who need computing power on the road. Like myself, since I am a salesman. This is the third Dell notebook my company has provided for me in the 4 years I have been working for them, and to...
Pros: Very rugged, medium weight, nice size/weight compromise Cons: Mouse Pad is Weak. Power cord connector is bad.
If you want a good, rugged and reliable laptop, don't care much for looks and you work in a "hazardous" (to computers) environment, you can't go wrong with Dell.
The last time I checked, the Dell laptops are still the only computers to pass...
Pros: Sturdy construction--takes a hit and keeps on ticking Cons: heavy for travelers
Choosing a laptop depends on how you expect to use it. I think the Dell is great for business people who aren't using this computer for home use. Here's a quick summary of who should/should not buy a Latitude:
Working as a consultant at the computer store at one of the world's top universities have afforded me a first hand experience towards a lot of different brands of laptops and computer periphelia in general. The top brand...
Pros: Lightweight. Excellent graphics for business. Highly integrated. Cons: Sound is weak. Waking up from sleep is not clean.
I'm partial to Dell because of their excellent service and support. As a system administrator I love companies that stand behind their products and actually show up the next day to fix problems.
Pros: Great performance, keyboard, screen. Quiet. Great service and support. Cons: Expensive. Lack of ports.
I consider myself somewhat of a nerd. So when my beloved computer was stolen in September, I had to find its perfect replacement. (note: that computer was also a Dell, so my search was somewhat biased.)
Pros: light, portable, solid performance Cons: floppy drive, hard drive and graphic card don't meet the standard
This fast baby packed with latest Intel Mobil Chip with Speed Step technology. Piii-850/700. It's at 850 Mhz when it's plug and it's 700 Mhz when on the road. Of course you can disable that battery saving feature, and keep it at blazing 850 Mhz all the...
I have had a Dell laptop for a year now. My wife also has one. We ended up having it as our company provides it as a desktop replacement and we take it home almost every night. At work, we have a docking station.
Now to start with the review, my...
Pros: Rugged design, good price performance ratio and attractive feature set Cons: only 1 USB port
dual screen mode does NOT work
This machine seems and feels more rugged and robust than its predecessors of the same line which displayed an amazing consistency in their weak points.
The absence of a 2nd USB port is about the only flaw in an otherwise very attractive feature set....
Pros: Very light, fast, good price and quality components Cons: Few if any (some minor complaints - see below)
This is a nice laptop. I have very little to complain about. We just moved 130+ systems from the CPts series to these system and they are so much nicer. The plastics are so much better than the Dell Latitude CP series systems (also known as the Inspiron...
This is one piece of electronics I don't see how I lived without! I have found that it can do everything that my $2,800 desktop computer can do yet portable! I love the LCD screen which is easy on the eyes. What more can i say? I have even let my 5...
Pros: Design, 3 year warranty Cons: Price, battery life
The new Latitude X600 is the first Dell ultralight to offer a bottom-docking media slice (historically, Dell laptops have docked from the back). While the slice drives up the price of the total package, it also brings the Latitude X600 to the level...
Pros: I like the docking station that you can buy for these models Cons: Bad motherboard, bad fan, flimsy LCD
We have 100's of Latitude C600's in our company. We use it mainly for software development kind of stuff. This is the only model of Dell that has given our IT staff the biggest headaches. The newer Dell models are a lot more reliable. The most common...
This computer has never worked for me. It was one of 2 choices at my school to use. (the other was an outdated notebook) Most everyone has gone to get the computer fixed at least once. I am sorry to say, I'm there everyday.
My cursor is...
Pros: Cheap enough second hand, fairly rugged + reliable, handy as second machine. Cons: Graphics card, bad, bad power connector, could be expensive to rectify. Only 1 USB port.
I bought this laptop second hand and was very happy with it for about three months. Then it became harder and harder to get a green light when I plugged the power cord in, had to really wriggle it round and adjust it, until it stopped taking a charge ...
Pros: Dell is willing to replace parts. Long term maintenance contract. Cons: Poor LCD design, loud system fan.
I support an office that works primarily with Dell Latitude C600 laptops. I would not suggest this machine to you. In the six months I’ve been working with this model, the LCD has failed on at least half of them. Sure, Dell, once you’ve finished...
Pros: lightweight, fast many improvements over earlier latitude models. one touch internet button is great Cons: none, i wish i had gotten this computer years ago
i received my c600 as a replacement for my latitude cp which stopped operating. i had quite a few problems with the latitude cp but since i received the c600 my life has improved. the improvements to the c600 are very desirable. the pointer as well as...
Affordable and Robust Laptop for General Use by jaguarxj220i ,Jan 16 '07
Pros: Fast, Durable, Affordable, Portable, Light, Bright, XP Compatible Cons: Not suitable for gaming
I bought this laptop a few months back because of how cheap it was from eBay. The spec was average and it has the Pentium 3 Mobile technology so it wasn't too bad. It also came with a standard 256 MB RAM which is ok considering it will only be used to do work and watch videos.
I bought one of these laptop for my studies. I was so pleased with it that i even recommended my friend to buy it. It comes with a standard 20GB hard disk which is perfect for work as doc files are usually no more than 1mb.
The Laptop DVD/CD-RW can be easily removed and replaced with another battery so you can use two batteries so if one should run out, it will switch to the next. They are hot swappable therefore it can be replaced with a floppy drive (these are hardly used these days).
Windows XP runs fine with the Dell C600 and improves performance dramatically.
These laptops are perfect for browsing the internet, listening to MP3s and doing work. It is not too good for gaming but i guess that can be said even with the new laptops also.
If you think That this laptop is a great laptop Think again by hakulove214 ,Jun 30 '08
Pros: Light Cons: Contiunes To Crash Graphic card is very bad, Very Slow, Heats up quicky
I don't trust this laptop anymore we put over $700 of cash into this laptop and the laptop costed us $300 And It contiunes to crash on us and I still can't take it anymore!
We have rebooted it over 5 times now and it crashed on me under a month.
DELL - Reliability guaranteed by jtb238 ,Sep 19 '03
Pros: Light, excellent keyboard, Cons: Must keep on changing disk drive for CD drive, thick laptop,
I have owned the Dell Latitude C600 for three years, and I must say it's an excellent computer. In those three years it has never broken down. It is one of the most reliable computers out there. It is also a versatile laptop, in the sense that it runs every single program well. I have updated it from Windows 98 - Windows NT - Windows XP and all of them ran perfectly. The reason I say this is because my friends computers in college refused to functioning with new programs.
worst computer decision ever! by mess0111 ,Jun 01 '06
Pros: if you put a fan under the computer it will stay on Cons: shuts off frequently
the fan replacement is expensive and time consuming
I've had this model for about two years now, and can barely use it because of its frequent shut-off. Every model of this computer has a defect with its fan, and it will overheat after short periods of time and shut off. It's inconvenient and very frustrating.
Mine Didn't Hold Up So Well by sagrilarus ,Oct 30 '03
Pros: Ran Win2k reasonably well Cons: Runs extremely Hot, and just not rugged enough for traveling.
I had been issued a Dell CPi 233 prior to getting the C600 (750MHz). The CPi proved indestructible and served me extremely well for over two years of very hard use. The C600 has not fared so well. The latch for the lid broke, the screen would periodically go haywire, requiring a good solid slap on the back to reset, a key came off, and, believe it or not, the screws began to fall out of the bottom of it! I got replacements in time to not have the keyboard fall out, but I just can't recommend this critter to anyone. It also ran VERY hot. I generally would unplug it when I had it in my lap just so that it would not burn my legs. It did run Win2K reasonably well. I have just turned it in, and the company has chosen to replace our Dells with IBMs this time.
