Pros: Lots of power and a big 16 inch screen! Cons: None
The Sony VAIO GRV670 is powered by an Intel Pentium 4 processor of 2.6GHz with 512MB of DDR RAM and a 400 MHz Bus Speed. Combined with a 64MB DDR RAM ATI Radeon 9000 video card and a combination DVD CDR/CDRW player for less than $1600 makes this a...
Pros: Big screen
Great screen quality
512 MB RAM
Loaded with graphics and media software
Cons: Heavy
The unit tends to overheat and needs an additional cooler which I had.
I loved my Sony. when it arrived brand new in its box. All shiny and super fast. I'm talking about my Sony VAIO PCG GRV670 laptop. It was great! A 16" screen and loads of physical memory. That was in May 2003. I needed my Sony for work and I live ...
Pros: Blazing fast processor, capable video card w/64mb of DDR ram, huge 16 inch SXGA screen Cons: Heavy, no s-video connector, no usb 2.0, No fixed optical drive
I recently upgraded my laptop from a Dell Inspiron 8200 to this slick machine and I have to tell you - this is a steal for the money. I got what I thought was a great deal from Dell on my Inspiron last year for around $1500 until I recently came across...
Pros: Great 16" graphical display.
Reasonable weight for so large a machine. Cons: Overheats, no USB2, usually dead, poor sound. Terrible customer service, representatives need communication skills.
Of all of the laptops I have had for business use, this has been the only Sony and the only nightmare. I bought it simply because it looked like it had everything. It did- everything wrong with it. The machine is 18 months old, has had 3 ...
Pros: LCD is awsome, no DPs at all, ever. Cons: Sony support, cost, repair cost
My machine is 15 months old. The optical drive no longer works. It's had two motherboards and needs another. The battery only lasted for 70 charge cycles. The speakers suck. It overheats.
2500 dollar machine ends up costing nearly 5K to work right.
Everybody says don't buy Sony... by red_boats_dt3000 ,Mar 29 '03
Everybody says don't buy Sony because of the service, but nobody much reviews the machines. The 670 is a desktop replacement. 16" screen is excellent, as is 64MB vid memory. Keyboard better than avg. Not up to IBM. At 2.6GHz should seem faster. I have not benchmarked much.
8 lbs doesn't seem that heavy for an occasional traveller.
It's 4 overall cause I imagine it could be faster. On comp.sys.laptops they say 3.06 GHz Sager is best, but Sony ran 7147 3DMarks, which was a little better than the Sager 8886, so who knows.
Sony offers a straight up 30 day return, so I bought direct from Sony Style instead of slightly cheaper elsewhere.
